Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 2010: 2009 Treaty

A child’s memory, sometimes, is very profound.

Zhang Minghui actually still remembers Gu Kai.

The anger in his eyes quickly dissipated, and his gaze at Gu Kai carried a hint of fear.

Gu Kai curled his lips in satisfaction, “Is fighting fun?”

“They started the fight with me first.”

“Do you know how much your medical expenses are?”

Gu Kai looked down at him from above, a trace of unnaturalness flashed across Zhang Minghui’s face. Though he was a child, he was evidently more mature than his peers.

He glanced at Jing Xiaocha beside him, seemingly displeased that she had informed Gu Kai.

“Having the guts to fight but not the ability to pay your own medical bills. If I were you, I would be embarrassed to call myself a man. You might as well be a woman.”

Zhang Minghui’s face instantly turned red with anger, and he blurted out, “Jing Xiaocha, I will repay the money for the medical expenses.”

His aggressive demeanor clearly showed his anger.

Yet he dared not lash out at Gu Kai for insulting him but vented his anger on Jing Xiaocha instead.

Jing Xiaocha raised an eyebrow, replying flatly, “I’ve just paid two thousand five hundred for you. No need for interest, just pay me back within three months.”

“You…”

Zhang Minghui looked at Jing Xiaocha incredulously; she actually wanted him to pay it back.

He was just a child, and Jing Xiaocha, that woman, indeed wasn’t kind, Zhang Minghui angrily cursed in his heart.

“There’s no need to curse me. I have no obligation to pay your medical bills for you. You yourself said I’m nothing to you. I lent you the money tonight to cover your medical costs, and you should be grateful. If it weren’t for that, you would have been kicked out of the hospital by now.”

Jing Xiaocha didn’t care how Zhang Minghui felt about her, but she also disliked a child being so rude to her.

Since Zhang Minghui didn’t view her as an elder, she had no reason to be polite to him.

So angry that his body trembled, Zhang Minghui stood there nearly shaking with rage. Gu Kai, standing by the bed, smiled and said, “Xiaocha, make him write an IOU so he can’t deny it later.”

Saying this, Gu Kai’s words paused for a second and then he added softly, “Just to be clear, you’re not allowed to steal, rob, or cheat. You must earn the money back with your own ability to repay Xiaocha. If you can’t pay it back in three months, I’ll have my loan shark friend come after you.”

“…”

Zhang Minghui’s previously red face turned pale.

Fear was clearly written in his eyes.

Perhaps after being tricked by Gu Kai before, Zhang Minghui had been afraid of him ever since. Jing Xiaocha smiled faintly, “Older Brother Gu, thank you.”

Then she pulled out paper and a pen from her bag.

Zhang Minghui cursed again in his heart, wondering why that woman carried paper and a pen in her bag.

“I can’t write.”

Previously, Zhang Minghui’s parents never sent him to kindergarten. After his parents went to jail, he attended school for a few days, but after getting into fights with classmates, he returned home.

“You can’t even write, and you think you can earn money back? Xiaocha, it seems like your money is gone.”

Gu Kai’s contempt was evident on his face, and Zhang Minghui said excitedly, “I can, I can earn money, I can collect garbage.”

Gu Kai unceremoniously mocked, “Collecting garbage? Even if you had three years, you couldn’t pay it back. Xiaocha, better give him another idea?”

Jing Xiaocha thought for a moment, “I also think it’s hard for you to pay it back. You’re over eight years old now. How about finishing the first-grade textbook in the next three months? If you can finish the first-grade textbook and pass the exam, then you don’t have to pay.”

Gu Kai laughed, “That’s a good idea. How about it, dare you?”

“I dare, why wouldn’t I dare?”

Zhang Minghui puffed his cheeks red, he wasn’t stupid. He just didn’t want to learn those things.

“Xiaocha, after he gets discharged, take him home and let him live with you. You have to take care of him.”

Zhang Minghui angrily glared at the old woman. The year and more he had spent with her were not pleasant.

After all, he was just a child? Couldn’t outsmart this old woman, being beaten, scolded, and forced to do housework every day, sometimes even sent to work on construction sites.

He looked again at Jing Xiaocha. Although this woman was annoying, she hadn’t mistreated him.

He heard she had been abroad, must be very capable. Staying with her should be better than with the old woman. “When I get discharged, I’ll live with you. I can do house cleaning and take care of myself.”

Jing Xiaocha’s eyes held a trace of surprise; she never expected Zhang Minghui to proactively say he wanted to live with her.

It seemed he was not living well at the old woman’s place.

“That will depend on your performance.”

**

In the following days, Jing Xiaocha went to the hospital every day, and on the fifth day, she took Zhang Minghui, who was discharged, to her apartment.

With one hand still wrapped in bandages, Zhang Minghui looked around the moment he entered, “Your place is much better than the old woman’s.”

“The balcony is your room.”

Jing Xiaocha pointed to the small bed on the balcony for Zhang Minghui.

“So stingy.”

Zhang Minghui ran to the balcony and looked at his ‘room’. Apart from a bed, a desk, and a few books and notebooks, there was nothing else.

And besides the bedroom, Jing Xiaocha had a study. She could be more generous and let him use the study.

Jing Xiaocha saw through Zhang Minghui’s thoughts and said calmly, “This is my home, and you should be grateful that I took you in. You’ll sign the agreement later.”

“What agreement?”

Zhang Minghui looked at Jing Xiaocha, puzzled.

Jing Xiaocha sat on the sofa, opened the drawer, and took out the agreement she had prepared, “You can’t read, so I’ll read it to you.”

“You read.”

Zhang Minghui flung himself onto the sofa, looking at Jing Xiaocha with displeasure.

“First, you must be polite. You cannot call me by my name. You must respectfully call me Aunt.”

Zhang Minghui’s mouth moved, but he didn’t dare refute.

Jing Xiaocha smiled slightly, “Second, you’re responsible for the cleanliness of the living room, kitchen, balcony, and bathroom. They must be cleaned thoroughly, and you must take out the garbage every day.”

Zhang Minghui snorted; this wouldn’t stump him.

“Third, follow the study plan I set for you. If you don’t complete the tasks for the day, you can’t eat or sleep.”

“I protest against this.”

“Protest denied, or pay me back three thousand five hundred yuan.”

“Wasn’t it two thousand five hundred yuan?”

Zhang Minghui widened his eyes.

Jing Xiaocha rolled her eyes, “That was for your first night in the hospital. You think staying a few days in the hospital doesn’t cost money?”

Zhang Minghui instantly looked deflated.

“Fourth, you must be civilized and polite, no fighting or arguing with others. If you violate any of the above rules, you must pay me back the three thousand five hundred yuan.”

Zhang Minghui exhaled sharply.

Jing Xiaocha wasn’t bothered by his reluctance, “If you don’t want to, I can send you back to your grandma right now.”

“I won’t go back, I agree.”

Hearing she would send him back, Zhang Minghui immediately objected. He didn’t want to return to that dirty place with the old woman, being disliked by the surrounding neighbors.
