Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1294: 1293 I will not shirk responsibility

Mo Xiuchen stepped out of the living room, Qing Feng and Qing Yang were already in the car, waiting at the front gate.

In such a season, with a large temperature difference between morning and evening, he wore only a shirt and a suit, feeling a slight chill.

Even the words that slipped from his thin lips seemed to carry a trace of the season’s coolness: “Ah Mu, are you talking about Li En?”

“Do you suspect him too?”

Qin Mu’s voice contained a hint of surprise as well as years of understanding between brothers.

“Yes, the specifics, we’ll talk when I pick you up. But for now, you can call him to say hello first.”

Mo Xiuchen paused slightly; this suspicion was not without reason.

“I’ve already made the call, whether it’s him or not, since we suspect it, we might as well check it out.”

In the depth of Qin Mu’s voice, there was a sense of certainty.

Mo Xiuchen hummed in response, then changed the subject: “Is An Lin up yet? I asked Little Liu to pick her up, to help Ranran take care of the kids.”

“She’s up. She’d go to accompany Ranran even without you asking. You don’t have to worry too much; Ranran has been through her share of trials and tribulations.”

“It’s different now, she’s been home for over a year, and I don’t want her involved. That’s also what Ah Jin means; he’s prepared for the worst.”

Mo Xiuchen walked to the door, where Qing Feng had already opened the car door, waiting for him to get in.

He got into the car, still hearing Qin Mu’s ongoing words: “What worst-case scenario is he preparing for? Ah Jin doesn’t think of giving up his life for this, does he? It’s only been two days; clearing things up will definitely take time. As long as the drugs themselves are not the issue, he doesn’t need to pay even for a human life.”

“The current situation is not optimistic,” Mo Xiuchen replied, his brow furrowed in concern, as they all believed it wasn’t Wen’s Phamaceutical Factory’s fault, not Wen Jin’s responsibility.

But an incident had occurred, and all fingers were pointing at Wen Jin.

Their only way to help was to find evidence proving that the drugs had been tampered with, leading to the patient’s death — there were no other shortcuts.

Ten minutes later, Mo Xiuchen arrived at Qin Mu’s house, where he and An Lin were already waiting by the roadside.

“An Lin, Ranran’s mood isn’t great, so please help look after those little ones. If she hasn’t picked up Tongtong, you can go and do it,” Mo Xiuchen instructed An Lin before letting Qing Feng drive off.

Continuing the earlier conversation, Qin Mu said: “Mo Xiuchen, do you want Bai Yiyi to go see Li En?”

“I’m considering it, I will ask Ah Kai and Ah Jin’s opinions when we get to the hospital,” Mo Xiuchen pondered, wondering if Ah Kai had made any progress after pulling an all-nighter, hoping for a breakthrough. Otherwise, the news of patient deaths alone would be enough to ruin Wen’s Phamaceutical Factory, to destroy Wen Jin.

The hospital’s doors were blocked by the deceased’s relatives and their assembled crowd.

From a distance, through a layer of thin mist, Wen Jin saw the people blocking the hospital entrance and the long strips of cloth stretched out with glaring, blood-red characters written on them; his gaze gradually darkened.

“President Wen, should we wait for Officer Lu to arrive before we all get out of the car?”

The driver was startled by the scene at the hospital entrance and turned to ask Wen Jin. Although the four bodyguards were still with him from yesterday, they probably wouldn’t be able to hold off such a formation.

Clearly, the death of their loved one had pushed their anger to the extreme.

Wen Jin hesitated for a moment and was about to speak when his phone rang. It was a call from Lu Zhiyan.

“Ah Jin, I just received a call. The victim’s family brought people with them and have blocked the entrance of the hospital. If you’ve arrived, don’t get out of the car. I’ll be there in ten minutes.”

“Okay, I’ll wait for you.” Wen Jin calmly promised.

“Don’t go over there yet.” After hanging up, Wen Ran instructed the driver, “Zhixing will arrive in a moment, wait for them and we’ll get off the car together.”

Several people were holding weapons in their hands, each one of them extremely grief-stricken. Of course, their hatred was not only towards Wen’s Pharmaceutical Factory, but also Kangning Hospital.

Because the death occurred in the hospital, their resentment was transferred to Wen Jin, but that was only because the hospital had shifted the blame to the drugs produced by Wen’s Pharmaceutical Factory.

When Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi arrived, Lu Zhiyan had just gotten there too. Wen Jin got out of the car with him, followed by bodyguards and a squad of police officers.

As they got out of the car, the victim’s family and the families of two other patients were tussling with the surgeons and the Hospital Director, refusing to let them leave and demanding an explanation.

It was unclear what the surgeon said that enraged the victim’s family, but the several people with weapons charged up and started hitting the Hospital Director and the surgeon.

Seeing the situation turn, Lu Zhiyan planned to get Wen Jin back into the car first.

But journalists had already spotted them, as had the family members, and saw Wen Jin, their rage instantly igniting towards them.

Before Wen Jin could respond to Lu Zhiyan’s question, someone with an iron rod charged at him, angrily shouting, ‘Beat this heartless profiteer to death.’

“Stop it right now.” Seeing what was about to happen, Lu Zhiyan unhesitatingly pushed Wen Jin aside and stepped forward, seizing the iron rod from that person’s hand. The police officers behind him also responded and stepped up to prevent the group from assaulting the doctors and the Hospital Director.

Wen Jin’s expression changed as he watched Lu Zhiyan take the iron rods from those three people’s hands and loudly called for a stop. He pursed his lips and said to a mourning woman beside him, “Continuing in this manner will only complicate things further without resolving them. Tell them to stop or if they openly attack the police, the consequences are more than you can bear. As for the drug issue, I will definitely give you an explanation. If it’s our pharmaceutical factory’s fault, I, Wen Jin, will not evade responsibility.”

“My father is gone, you’re still denying responsibility—who would believe you?”

The woman said while crying and in great anger.

“You heartless profiteers, for the sake of money, disregard human life…”

The fierce man beside her charged over, “If we don’t get an explanation today, not even the heavens and the earth can help you.”

“Ah Jin, go into the hospital first.”

Up front, Lu Zhiyan glanced at the man and made a gesture to Wen Jin to get him to enter the hospital first.

Before Wen Jin could leave, the woman from before suddenly pulled out a knife from her body. She wasn’t attacking Wen Jin but instead placed it against her own neck, glaring hatefully at Wen Jin, “If you don’t give us an explanation today, then I’ll make you bear another life lost.”

“Sister, don’t be rash.”

Wen Jin’s handsome face changed, he quickly spoke out to stop her: “From the moment I received the call until now, investigations haven’t stopped for even a moment. I understand the pain of losing a loved one. Like I said just now, if it truly is an issue with our pharmaceuticals, I won’t dodge the responsibility.”

On the other side, Bai Yiyi saw Gu Kai slowing down the car and pulling over to the side of the road. Without thinking, she reached out to open the car door to get out, but her wrist was caught by Gu Kai from the driver’s seat, his deep voice sternly ringing in her ear, “Stay in the car, you’re not allowed to get out.”
