Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1272: I won’t bother you anymore after 1271.

Just as the four lips were about to touch, a sudden urgent ringtone burst from Gu Kai’s pocket.

In this quiet and ambiguous deep night, it was exceptionally clear.

Gu Kai’s movements halted, the deep heat in his eyes dissipating like a cloud of mist in an instant.

The ringing startled Bai Yiyi, causing her heartbeat to pause for half a second, and in panic, she pushed Gu Kai away.

At the disturbance of the ringtone, the hand he had placed around her waist loosened its grip.

With that push, Bai Yiyi managed to push him away as she wished.

The originally subtle atmosphere turned awkward due to this untimely phone call.

Seeing the water and noodles boiling in the pot beside her, Bai Yiyi couldn’t possibly turn around and leave at this moment. She pursed her lips, added some cold water to the pot, and took another pair of chopsticks to stir the noodles.

Gu Kai glanced at her, then stepped out of the kitchen to take the call in the living room outside.

The call was from Mo Xiuchen. Gu Kai had never despised this guy like he did now, calling in the dead of night.

“Hello!”

After sitting down on the sofa, he pressed the answer key and started speaking with a displeased tone.

On the phone, Mo Xiuchen’s low laughter came through, “Ah Kai, what’s with you? You sound like someone owes you a fortune, why such a temper so late at night?”

“Speak your mind.”

Gu Kai’s handsome eyebrows furrowed, a shadow looming over his handsome face.

“When I came back just now, I saw your car outside Bai Yiyi’s house. Why are you still at her place in the middle of the night? The rumor just spread yesterday, aren’t you afraid of reporters catching you entering her house at midnight?”

Listening to Mo Xiuchen’s tone, there didn’t seem to be anything important.

It was just him returning home in the middle of the night, saw his car, then made a call to chat casually.

Maybe it wasn’t just casual talk; it was Mo Xiuchen, that overly happy man, wanting to gloat.

“I came to see Tongtong. Tongtong called this afternoon saying she missed me.”

Gu Kai stretched his long legs straight, one leg propped up on the coffee table, the other extended beneath it, his body lazily leaning into the leather sofa.

“Does Tongtong stay up late?”

Mo Xiuchen teased from the other end of the phone.

Gu Kai countered, “Do you also not sleep at night? You just said you saw my car when returning home. Mo Xiuchen, why are you coming home so late, could it be you’ve grown too interested in the outside world after being married to Ranran for so long, reluctant to go home?”

“Ah Kai, I was kindly concerned about you, and you actually try to drive a wedge, that’s not very brotherly of you. Going to a single woman’s house in the middle of the night, and so irritable, you weren’t planning something indecent and got rejected, were you?”

Over the phone, it seemed as if Mo Xiuchen could see Gu Kai’s frustrated and gloomy handsome face.

Gu Kai cursed angrily, “If you have nothing else, go to sleep, I’m hanging up.”

“Ah Kai…”

Mo Xiuchen’s voice was cut off by the hang up.

Gu Kai set the phone to vibrate, put it on the coffee table, and looked up to see Bai Yiyi coming out of the kitchen with a large pot of noodles.

Gu Kai stood up and followed her into the dining room.

Bai Yiyi placed the noodles on the table, turned around, and went back to the kitchen to get the pig’s feet he wanted to eat.

Gu Kai glanced at the stainless steel pot of noodles and shouted to Bai Yiyi leaving the dining room, “Bring another pair of bowls and chopsticks.”

Bai Yiyi did not respond and did not bring another pair of bowls and chopsticks.

After placing the pig’s feet on the table, she coldly dropped a sentence: “I’m going to sleep.”

She turned and walked away.

“Yiyi, wait a minute.”

Gu Kai frowned, his eyes squinting at Bai Yiyi.

Her face was cold and indifferent, the flush on her cheeks had faded away. She treated him like a complete stranger, cold and distant as if separated by a thousand miles.

His voice was deep: “Sit down, I have something to tell you.”

“Let’s talk tomorrow, I’m very tired.”

Bai Yiyi refused, she did not want to face him any longer, just now in the kitchen, if his phone hadn’t suddenly rung, she didn’t know if he really would have kissed her.

Previously, it was an accident.

That led to Tongtong, and now both of them were sober, and just yesterday, they made the front page headlines, accused of being a homewrecker.

Bai Yiyi didn’t want to have any unclear relations with Gu Kai anymore.

Their gazes locked, Gu Kai’s eyes deep and somber, Bai Yiyi’s gaze cold and icy.

Compared to the subtle ambiguity in the kitchen just moments ago, it was worlds apart.

Gu Kai pressed his lips together, stood up from his seat, and strode out of the dining room.

Bai Yiyi blinked in confusion, turned her head, and saw Gu Kai entered the kitchen, her brows slightly furrowing again.

Gu Kai returned with bowls and chopsticks, Bai Yiyi indifferently said, “You don’t need to pick them out, I’m not eating.”

Gu Kai didn’t speak, picked some noodles into the bowl, deliberately adding some strips of meat, then poured soup.

Finally, he said to Bai Yiyi who was still standing there: “Are you going to sit down, or should I pull you down.”

“Gu Kai, what exactly do you want?”

Bai Yiyi pursed her lips, asking coldly and firmly.

“Sit down and eat the noodles. I said I wouldn’t let you cook for nothing,” Gu Kai stared at her indifferent eyes for a few seconds, his eyes’ emotions receding like a tide, his tone suddenly becoming light and breezy.

Compared to her extreme coldness, Gu Kai was distant.

Bai Yiyi sensed the aloofness in his words, she hesitated, saw Gu Kai lower his head and began to eat his noodles, so she pulled out a chair and sat down.

“This afternoon, my mom called me.”

As Bai Yiyi spoke, Gu Kai’s action of lifting noodles to his mouth paused slightly, he looked up at her, “Is Aunt Bai enjoying her time outside?”

“It should be okay, my mom learned about yesterday’s incident.”

Bai Yiyi blinked, somewhat unclear about Gu Kai’s unpredictable moods.

Although he didn’t show it obviously, Bai Yiyi could clearly feel it, he called her, asking her to cook noodles for him, there was a feeling similar to a husband instructing his wife to prepare a late-night snack, he’ll come home to eat soon.

Just now, he entered the house with his own password, as if he was coming home.

Naturally, he went into the kitchen and jokingly said her cooking was good.

This is definitely not the interaction model that unrelated men and women should have, later, he grabbed her, preventing her from leaving, and pulled her into his arms by her waist.

That moment, the atmosphere between them became ambiguous.

If he had really kissed her, what their relationship would turn into, Bai Yiyi had no idea.

She frowned slightly, telling herself not to overthink, it’s impossible between her and Gu Kai, “I told her, Fang Zhiwei stepped forward and cleared things up for me. My mom is very thankful to Fang Zhiwei, and also said, for my reputation and Tongtong’s sake, to keep my distance from you.”

“Is that so?”

Gu Kai raised an eyebrow, looking at Bai Yiyi with a questioning gaze.

Bai Yiyi nodded, “Of course.”

Gu Kai lowered his eyes, speaking calmly: “Okay, I won’t bother you anymore. Since you live close to Ranran’s house, in the future, if I want to see Tongtong, I will go to Ranran’s house.”
