Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1252: 1251 Scandal

After going downstairs, Bai Yiyi picked up Tongtong, and the three of them came to the sofa. Mo Xiuchen immediately stood up and gave up his seat next to Qin Mu for An Lin.

“Mommy.”

Momo stretched out her arms, wanting Wen Ran to hold her.

Wen Ran picked up Momo, and was authoritatively requested by Mo Xiuchen to sit with him.

“An Lin, I heard you slept all afternoon.”

Gu Kai teased as he asked.

An Lin nodded, smiling as she said, “I only arrived in G City this afternoon, there’s no way I could have slept the whole afternoon.”

“Daddy hold.” Tongtong, held by Bai Yiyi, wanted to go to Gu Kai.

“Yiyi, you sit here.”

Wen Jin, who was originally sitting next to Gu Kai, stood up and gave up her seat for Bai Yiyi. Bai Yiyi wanted to refuse, but Wen Jin’s phone just happened to ring.

“You sit, I am going to take a call outside.”

Wen Jin handed Xin Xin to Mo Xiuchen, glanced at her phone, and walked away from the sofa to answer the call outside.

Qin Mu poured a glass of water for An Lin and handed it to her, whispering, “Have some water.”

An Lin didn’t look at him, silently took the glass, drank the water he poured, put the glass back on the table, and Qin Mu’s voice rang again in her ear: “Want more?”

“No more.”

An Lin’s tone was somewhat brusque, feeling awkward no matter what.

Wen Ran noticed An Lin’s unease and turned to glance at Mo Xiuchen, who understood her intention without her having to speak, and said with a smile, “Let’s eat first, we can talk after the meal.”

“Ah Jin is still outside on the phone.”

An Lin looked up in the direction of the door.

Wen Ran also stood up holding Momo, smiling, “It’s fine, my brother will come in after he finishes his call. I’ll go see if Nanny Zhang is ready in the kitchen.”

“Put Momo down, don’t carry her. She has gotten heavier recently.”

Mo Xiuchen was famously devoted to his wife.

Wen Ran chuckled, agreed, and let Momo sit on the sofa by herself. Mo Xiuchen also placed Xin Xin on the sofa, and on the other side, Ziyi and Tongtong wanted to come over as well, seeing this.

Early in the morning, just as Bai Yiyi opened her eyes, her phone rang.

Seeing the caller was Gu Kai, she frowned slightly, pressed the answer key, and her voice, carrying a trace of sleepiness, spilled from her lips: “Hello?”

“Open the door.”

“Oh.”

Bai Yiyi yawned, glanced at Tongtong who still hadn’t woken up beside her, got out of bed, and went to open the door.

Outside, Gu Kai stood holding a newspaper, his expression cool and his mood didn’t seem very good.

Bai Yiyi’s eyes swept over the newspaper in his hand and she asked in surprise, “What are you doing at my place so early in the morning?”

Gu Kai entered the house, closed the door, and strode over to the bed, glanced at Tongtong who was still asleep, “Hasn’t Tongtong woken up yet?”

“No, still sleeping, it’s only seven o’clock.”

Bai Yiyi walked over, gave him a look, and then said, “You go downstairs first, I need to change clothes.”

Gu Kai frowned, handed the newspaper to her, “Read this first, don’t change clothes yet, I’ve already called Ah Jin, you rest at home today.”

“Why?”

Bai Yiyi looked at Gu Kai in shock.

Gu Kai remained silent, his slightly pursed lips exuding a hint of coldness. Bai Yiyi lowered her eyes and took the newspaper from his hand.

As she unfolded the newspaper and saw the photographs and eye-catching headlines on the front page, her complexion suddenly changed.

“This…”

Gu Kai took a deep breath, his voice as calmly composed as possible: “The photos were taken at lunch the day before yesterday and at the airport yesterday. They didn’t expose Tongtong; they just wrote about you and me.”

Bai Yiyi quickly scanned through the paper, her grip on it tightening unconsciously.

The headline read “The Mistress Responsible for Young Master Gu of Kangning Hospital and his Fiancée Fang Zhiwei’s Breakup”, the word ‘mistress’ glaring especially painfully in Bai Yiyi’s eyes.

“Not long ago, the breakup of Young Master Gu and Fang Zhiwei was exposed…”

Seeing Bai Yiyi’s face turn a shade paler, Gu Kai took the newspaper from her hands and said indifferently, “Since things have turned out this way, I’m planning to hold a press conference this afternoon to clear things up. I’ve already checked; the article was written by a newcomer at the newspaper. Later, I will go to the newspaper office. You don’t need to go to work today.”

“How do you plan to explain it?”

Bai Yiyi asked stiffly.

“If they can find out about our relationship, they can also find out about Tongtong. For Tongtong’s sake, it’s better for us to appear in front of the media as lovers.”

“Gu Kai, you’re still acting?”

Bai Yiyi glared at him angrily, “Last time you had me pretend to be your girlfriend, Fang Zhiwei misunderstood because of me, and now you want me to continue this charade.”

“Don’t be angry just yet.” Gu Kai explained gently, “I’m doing this for you and Tongtong. You surely don’t want them to say Tongtong is an illegitimate child. Also, how would you explain Tongtong’s existence to them? Would you say that you were drugged and had a one-night stand with me…?”

Bai Yiyi’s complexion turned even paler.

Seeing this, Gu Kai sighed softly, looked at her, and said lightly, “Forget it, I won’t force you. I’ll just tell the media we were in a relationship before, and that Tongtong was born after our breakup. You stay at home and rest for a couple of days; I’ll handle this.”

Gu Kai looked at Bai Yiyi as if seeking her opinion.

Bai Yiyi didn’t speak or look at him, her gaze merely fixed on her own toes.

After a long pause, Gu Kai added, “I brought some breakfast. Go wash up, come downstairs to eat, and if anything comes up, call me.”

With those words, Gu Kai turned and left her room.

Bai Yiyi’s slender frame stood still, her eyes following the direction of the door until the sound of footsteps in the corridor faded away. Only then did she turn around to change her clothes.

**

“Ranran, come quick and look at the newspaper.”

As Wen Ran carried Momo downstairs and sat on the living room sofa, An Lin waved her over with a strange expression on her face.

Wen Ran blinked, holding Momo as she approached the sofa, and asked with a smile, “What news has got you so excited?”

“It’s a scandal involving Ah Kai and Yiyi. Huh, where’s Mo Xiuchen? Hasn’t he gotten up yet? Doesn’t he have to work?”

An Lin had stayed at their place last night. Originally, Qin Mu wanted her to go home with him, but she refused.

Wen Ran kindly offered to let her stay.

Hearing her words, Wen Ran immediately disregarded An Lin’s latter comment, placed Momo on the sofa, grabbed the newspaper, and her brows furrowed as soon as she saw the photos, “These reporters really, they make up stories and embellish the truth just to grab people’s attention, completely disregarding ethics.”

“It’s an exclusive story. If this reporter didn’t embellish it like a love novel, how would she live up to the exclusivity?”

An Lin’s tone carried a hint of sarcasm. Not every reporter is dedicated to factual reporting—many of them write sensational stories just for circulation.

“To misuse the term ‘mistress’ like this. The person who wrote this article seems more like a mistress themselves,” Wen Ran grew angrier the more she read. She paused, then looked up at An Lin, “An Lin, do you think the reporter found this out on their own? Otherwise, how would she know Yiyi’s father is Fu Jingyi?”
