Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1261: 1260 press conference

Three o’clock in the afternoon

Gu Kai held a press conference in the conference room of Kangning Hospital.

It was rare for the usually unsullied and disciplined Doctor Gu to be embroiled in scandal, let alone involving two women, which the media found very interesting.

Especially since the previous news of Gu Kai’s ‘anger for his beloved’ was suppressed, some reporters wrote articles for nothing, and this time, each of them arrived at Kangning Hospital ahead of time.

“What do you think Doctor Gu is going to announce?”

“Could it be about his romance with Miss Fang?”

“I don’t know about that, we’ll find out when Doctor Gu gets here.”

Arriving too early, these reporters, with their wild imaginations, discussed what exactly Gu Kai would be telling them later on.

“Here he comes, he’s here.”

At three o’clock sharp, the protagonist made his appearance.

Gu Kai walked in, holding a girl about two years old, with Bai Yiyi and Fang Zhiwei following behind him.

Seeing this formation, the reporters below all widened their eyes.

Some even covered their mouths, afraid to exclaim aloud, wondering what was going on?

Does Doctor Gu have a daughter? Pairs of eagle eyes moved back and forth across the faces of the two beautiful women, Fang Zhiwei and Bai Yiyi, trying to determine the parentage of the girl Gu Kai was holding.

But it was all speculation in their minds and through eye contact, as the hall was still silent as a grave.

On the stage, behind the red velvet tablecloth, Gu Kai sat down with the girl, who was possibly unaccustomed to such a formal setting, as Tongtong’s big black eyes rolled around curiously.

She stared at the unfamiliar faces below the stage with curiosity.

When they entered earlier, her parents had specifically instructed her to behave and not to speak lightly.

Therefore, despite her curious nature, Tongtong did not ask any questions.

Bai Yiyi and Fang Zhiwei sat down to the left and right of Gu Kai, respectively. Gu Kai looked down at Tongtong sitting on his lap, held her with one hand, and raised the other hand to adjust the microphone in front of him.

Everything was ready.

In the quiet hall, Gu Kai’s clear voice arose, “This morning, I told everyone that I would make an announcement this afternoon and that it would resolve your doubts.”

The gazes of everyone below the stage were locked on Gu Kai. To be honest, the one man and two women on the stage—the man was handsome and upright, elegant and noble, and the women, one graceful and dignified, the other pure and ethereal—looked compatible with any match.

Especially the female reporters below the stage were, even more, filled with envy of Bai Yiyi and Fang Zhiwei for being involved with Doctor Gu.

Gu Kai’s eyes swept over the crowd, and his voice paused slightly before he continued, “The matter I am announcing today is…”

“Daddy.”

His words were interrupted by Tongtong in his arms, whose crisp, tender voice, as pure as an angel’s, traveled through the microphone and into the ears of everyone below.

Although everyone had their suspicions, hearing the little girl call out “Daddy” still made them widen their eyes in unison.

However, such a pure voice, untainted by any impurities, made their earlier baseless speculations seem sordid.

Especially those eyes of Tongtong, black and lively.

She looked a lot like Bai Yiyi sitting to the right of Gu Kai. When Tongtong saw the uncles and aunties below the stage staring at her with wide eyes, she was not afraid at all; in fact, she giggled with laughter.

Gu Kai didn’t stop Tongtong; instead, he lowered his gaze, his smile tender and loving as he watched his precious daughter in his arms—his eyes were gentle and doting.

“Mommy.”

Tongtong giggled twice and then suddenly turned her head to call out to Bai Yiyi beside her.

Just now, her voice came through the microphone loud enough for the whole hall to hear, but as she uttered the word “Mommy,” Tongtong’s brow furrowed slightly.

The next second, she turned back, her bright big eyes staring at the microphone in front of her. She reached out her hand, trying to adjust the microphone just like her daddy just did.

Unfortunately, her arms were too short to reach. She opened her mouth and, just like before, shouted crisply into the microphone: “Mommy!”

This time, it worked.

Her voice rang out clearly in the hall.

While everyone was shocked and widened their eyes, Tongtong laughed again, giggling with contentment and joy.

Both Bai Yiyi and Gu Kai forgot to stop Tongtong. Gu Kai was proud of her newfound discovery and exploration, while Bai Yiyi’s heart softened into a lake.

There was simply no way to blame or stop Tongtong.

Since Tongtong had called out “Daddy,” there had been a gentle curve to Gu Kai’s lips. He caught Tongtong’s small hand with his large one and tightened the arm around her slightly, keeping her from squirming in his embrace. Then, he spoke again, his voice warmer than before:

“Everyone has heard, the little girl I’m holding is my daughter, Gu Zhitong.”

Below the stage, someone raised their hand.

Gu Kai glanced at the person and continued: “I know you all have many questions. Please let me finish speaking briefly, and then you can ask your questions, okay?”

Everyone nodded.

In his arms, Tongtong was fidgeting restlessly, so Gu Kai passed her to Bai Yiyi to hold.

“Tongtong is mine and Bai Yiyi’s daughter, and she will turn two next week. Three years ago, we had a brief romance, after which we broke up, and I was unaware of Tongtong’s existence.”

Bai Yiyi held Tongtong in her arms without looking at Gu Kai. She used her eyes to keep Tongtong from moving around wildly.

On the other side, Fang Zhiwei gently tilted her face, her gaze warm as she looked at Gu Kai’s handsome features.

“Last year, I accidentally learned that Tongtong is my daughter. At that time, I was dating Zhi Wei. Bai Yiyi, afraid of affecting our relationship, was unwilling to acknowledge it. It wasn’t until after a DNA test that she finally admitted it,” Gu Kai said.

“But there’s one thing I must clarify: my breakup with Zhi Wei has nothing to do with Tongtong and Bai Yiyi. I know that you might not believe me because of the report this morning, which has already prejudiced your judgment, even though it was fabricated.”

At his side, Fang Zhiwei softly called out to Gu Kai.

Gu Kai turned to look at her, indicating that she could speak.

Fang Zhiwei pursed her lips and continued where Gu Kai left off, “After the last incident, I believe everyone knows that I am Ah Kai’s ex-girlfriend, Fang Zhiwei. I’m here today just to tell you all that Ah Kai and I broke up amicably, due to our own reasons, and not as the newspapers said, because of another party’s interference.”

She paused in her speech, turned her head to look at Bai Yiyi and Tongtong, “I and Yiyi are now good friends, and also friends with Ah Kai. I hope everyone does not complicate simple matters or write about us as if we are characters in a story.”

Gu Kai turned his gaze towards Bai Yiyi, trying to find out if she wanted to make a statement.

Bai Yiyi shook her head, indicating that it was enough for him to speak.

Gu Kai made a gesture allowing for questions, and immediately someone in the audience raised their hand; once permitted to ask, they inquired: “Doctor Gu, when you were dating Miss Bai, did you know who her father was?”
