Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1274: Tongtong can’t rely on daddy all the time

Upon hearing the words, Gu Kai’s handsome brows instantly clouded over, his thin lips pressing into a rigid straight line, “Dad, I don’t agree with giving that kind of woman, Wei Jingshan, any chances. Why is Mayor Chen so interested in her?”

If he remembered correctly, it was also Mayor Chen’s idea to let the interns enter Kangning Hospital in the first place.

“Ah Kai, don’t rush, listen to me,” Gu Yan said soothingly, “Because this group of interns was recommended to our hospital by Mayor Chen. Naturally, he takes it seriously when issues arise. His concern for Wei Jingshan also has its reasons.”

“What reasons?”

Gu Kai could not hide his displeasure.

Gu Yan explained, “Wei Jingshan is an orphan. The old lady who adopted her was a distant aunt of Mayor Chen. After the old lady passed away, Mayor Chen sponsored Wei Jingshan’s education…”

“So you’re saying, you agreed to him.”

After hearing Gu Yan’s words, Gu Kai’s facial features slightly hardened.

He disliked these kinds of relationships the most, even though their Gu Family is a century-old medical family, and he was born into such a family, seen by outsiders as a silver-spoon kid.

Yet, in truth, Gu Kai’s accomplishments today were achieved through his own efforts.

As the best young surgeon, it wasn’t because of his looks or family background, but because of the surgical knife in his hands and the records he continually broke in the operating room.

Although Wei Jingshan’s professional knowledge is commendable, because of this relationship, Gu Kai could only feel even more repulsed by her.

“Ah Kai, when Wei Jingshan returns to the hospital, you won’t have to lead her, I will have Qiu Wei take her. Mayor Chen has already requested, we can’t totally disregard his face. Just see how Wei Jingshan performs. If she makes another mistake, Mayor Chen won’t be pleading on her behalf anymore.”

“Since you’ve decided, then I have no right or meaning to oppose. Dad, if there’s nothing else, I’m going up to sleep.”

Gu Kai stood up, walked out from the sofa area, heading towards the staircase.

“…”

Gu Yan opened his mouth wanting to say something more, but upon seeing the handsome back figure of Gu Kai, he swallowed back his words.

The next morning, Bai Yiyi was awakened by Tongtong.

“Mommy, good morning.”

Upon opening her eyes, she saw Tongtong’s distinctively black and white large eyes and her face, delicate and radiant with a bright smile.

Seeing Bai Yiyi awake, Tongtong immediately pounced on her, her short arms embracing her, “Mommy.”

“Baby, good morning.”

“Mommy, good morning.”

Tongtong had progressed from two-word phrases to three-word ones, albeit spoken slowly and still somewhat improperly.

Bai Yiyi kissed her cheek, got out of bed, and carried Tongtong to find clothes.

The past few days were getting colder, Bai Yiyi opened the closet with thick clothes, letting Tongtong choose.

Tongtong picked a pink cape dress, a white base sweater, furry pants, a pair of pretty short boots, and also chose a dress for Bai Yiyi that matched hers for a mommy-daughter style.

The mother and daughter dressed up and then washed up together.

After tying up little braids, Tongtong pointed at her mother’s hair and said, “Mommy, braid.”

“Mommy won’t braid her hair today, Tongtong, Mommy is taking you shopping at the mall today, how about we play all day?”

Because it was Saturday and she didn’t have to work, Bai Yiyi had given their caretaker the day off the night before, asking her to come back on Monday morning.

Gently holding Tongtong’s hand as they descended the stairs, Bai Yiyi asked, “Tongtong, tell Mommy, what do you want for breakfast? Mommy will make it for you.”

“Daddy sent it.”

Tongtong looked up at Bai Yiyi, her smile radiant.

Bai Yiyi slightly frowned and softly said, “Tongtong, Daddy has to go to work and can’t deliver breakfast to you every day. You can’t be clinging to Daddy every day either. How about Mommy makes you fried eggs, okay?”

Being so young, Tongtong didn’t understand why her mom and dad had to live separately, or why she couldn’t see her dad every day like her younger siblings.

But she seemed to sense her mom’s unhappiness; whenever she asked to see her dad, her mom would make that expression.

She pursed her lips, blinked her eyes, and then reluctantly said, “Mommy, Tongtong loves eating, Egg.”

Bai Yiyi, warmed by Tongtong’s sensible words, couldn’t help but embrace her with aching affection.

Pressing their foreheads together, she softly said, “Tongtong, Mommy loves you.”

“Love Mommy.”

Tongtong hugged her mom back, her small mouth stretched into a pure and bright smile.

Bai Yiyi carried Tongtong into the kitchen; the pots and pans were all cleaned, and even the trash had been taken out by Gu Kai last night.

She fried an egg and made soy milk, then sat with Tongtong at the dining table to eat breakfast. When the phone rang, Tongtong’s eyes lit up and she excitedly called out, “Daddy.”

“Tongtong, it’s Auntie.”

Bai Yiyi took out her phone, smiling as she explained to Tongtong. Although Tongtong happily called out ‘Auntie’, she was still a bit disappointed.

“Yiyi, do you and Tongtong have any plans for today?”

Over the phone, Wen Ran’s gentle voice came through. Bai Yiyi grabbed a paper towel to wipe her mouth and cheerfully replied, “I plan to take Tongtong shopping and then to the zoo.”

“Okay, Momo has a bit of a fever, so I won’t join you. I’ll have Qing Yang come to pick you up.”

“Ranran, how did Momo get a fever? How high is it?”

Bai Yiyi’s tone immediately became worried upon hearing that Momo had a fever. Yesterday at Ranran’s house, Momo was fine.

“Thirty-nine degrees. I’m planning to take Momo to the hospital.”

“Okay, then you should quickly take Momo to the hospital. Do Xin Xin and Ziyi have a fever too?”

“They’re fine, just Momo by herself, so I’m going to take her to the hospital. Gotta reduce the fever quickly, it would be bad if it spread to Xin Xin and Ziyi.”

Along with Wen Ran’s voice, the sound of Momo’s crying could be heard, as well as Mo Xiuchen’s soothing voice.

“Ranran, don’t worry about me and Tongtong, I can drive Tongtong there myself.”

“I’m doing this as a favor to someone. Qing Yang will be there soon, and not just for today. For the next few days, Qing Yang will be your and Tongtong’s driver, so don’t hesitate to ask him to take you wherever you need.”

Upon hearing this, Bai Yiyi was silent for a few seconds.

The favor Wen Ran mentioned, without a doubt, was from Gu Kai.

Last night, Gu Kai had agreed to keep his distance. Although he can be annoying, he keeps his word. Once he promises, he won’t show up in front of her again.

So, he arranged for Qing Yang to drive for her.

Hearing her silence, Wen Ran added, “Yiyi, my brother worries about Tongtong, he feels obligated towards her, and what he does for her he should rightly do. You shouldn’t feel burdened, just instruct Qing Yang as needed.”

“Okay, thank you, Ranran.”

“Why be so formal with me? If you really want to thank someone, thank my brother, or thank Tongtong. Alright, I need to take Momo to the hospital now, won’t talk longer. I hope you and Tongtong have a fun day.”
