Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1271: 1270 Stop talking

”Bro, why did you drop off Yiyi and just leave? Where are you now?”

Wen Ran placed Tongtong on the sofa, and they answered the phone together, while Bai Yiyi glanced at them before going to play paper airplanes with the three little ones.

”I bought some food and toys for Tongtong, some are frozen and can’t be left out for too long.”

”So, you went home to put things away?” Wen Ran’s face lit up with a smile as she looked towards Bai Yiyi, who was squatting on the ground picking up airplanes.

Bai Yiyi, hearing Gu Kai’s words, also looked up in astonishment.

Meeting Wen Ran’s gaze, she blinked innocently.

”Yeah, I have a night shift later and need to return to the hospital, so I won’t be picking up Tongtong.”

Gu Kai explained on the phone, and Wen Ran, with a smile, said, ”Tell that to Tongtong, she’s fussing to see you right now.”

Wen Ran handed the phone to Tongtong to hold.

Tongtong called out once more: ”Daddy.”

”Tongtong, daddy has to go back to the hospital to see patients. I’ll come to see you after my shift. Be a good girl and listen to mommy.”

Gu Kai’s tone became even softer while talking to Tongtong.

***

Bai Yiyi and Tongtong had dinner at Wen Ran’s home.

Wen Ran invited her to spend the weekend at the countryside villa to celebrate Tongtong’s birthday.

As it was Tongtong’s birthday, Bai Yiyi did not refuse. After all, it wasn’t just her and Gu Kai; Wen Jin, An Lin, and Qin Mu would be there too.

Around eight in the evening, Bai Yiyi took Tongtong home, bathed her, told her a story, and put her to bed.

After Tongtong fell asleep, Bai Yiyi went to take a shower herself.

Ever since her mother went on a trip, Bai Yiyi had Tongtong move from her child’s room into her room to sleep together.

The purpose was to be immediately aware if Tongtong cried in the middle of the night.

Even though there was a nanny living at home, she still tried to do everything herself as much as possible, not letting the nanny take over any tasks she could do herself.

Bai Yiyi dried her hair, read for a bit, and when the clock struck ten, she put down the book and went to sleep.

Drifting in and out of sleep, the ringing of the phone on the nightstand started to vibrate, and Bai Yiyi barely opened her eyes, her groping hand found the phone through the grogginess.

Seeing the caller ID immediately ignited a surge of anger from the bottom of her heart.

”Can you not disturb someone’s good dreams in the middle of the night?”

”I just got off my shift. Can you make a bowl of noodles for me? Remember to add meat. I’ll be home soon.”)

Over the phone, Gu Kai’s voice was low, magnetic, and carried an undeniable assertiveness, which, upon reaching Bai Yiyi’s ears, sent her anger soaring, wiping away all traces of sleepiness.

She sat up in bed, glanced at Tongtong sleeping beside her, and said through gritted teeth, ”Gu Kai, are you sick? Why should I make noodles for you? If you want to eat, go out or go back to your place and have your aunt cook for you.”

Really!

She’s not his nanny. She made noodles for him once last night, and now he’s hooked.

”You make delicious noodles. Didn’t you see I put the groceries I bought this afternoon in your house? There’s meat in the fridge, and pig trotters too. Just heat it up in the microwave. Bai Yiyi, I won’t take your cooking for granted; if you have anything to say, we can talk when I get back.”

That bastard, he hung up the phone just like that.

Bai Yiyi opened her mouth, staring at the disconnected call, gasping heavily.

”Cluck, cluck!”

Next to her, Tongtong was having some sweet dream, her little mouth slightly opened with a happy smile, but she did not wake up.

Listening to Tongtong’s giggles, the anger in Wen Ran’s heart dissipated all at once.

She watched the sleeping Tongtong, staring at her features that resembled Gu Kai’s for a long while, took a deep breath, and told herself to get up and make noodles for that man one more time.

She, of course, knew that Gu Kai left the things he bought in the afternoon at her home. That evening, when she returned with Tongtong, the babysitter immediately informed her.

Bai Yiyi had also gone into the kitchen to check, even inspecting the fridge once more.

She got up, went downstairs, entered the kitchen, opened the fridge to heat up the cooked pig’s trotters, and then sliced some raw meat to make him shredded pork noodles.

Half-past eleven.

Gu Kai arrived home (of course, the ’home’ he mentioned on the phone was not acknowledged by Bai Yiyi; although she was a tenant, she paid the rent, so it was her home, which had nothing to do with that jerk Gu Kai.)

It was unclear whether it was the effect of Bai Yiyi’s words from last night, but Gu Kai didn’t ask her to open the door, instead entering the living room by himself.

A faint fragrance wafted from the kitchen, and Gu Kai’s gaze shifted to the familiar figure inside. A satisfied smile curved up at the corner of his lips as he quickly strode into the kitchen, joyfully saying, ”Smells good, Bai Yiyi, I must say, your cooking skills are quite impressive.”

Bai Yiyi huffed and did not turn around.

Gu Kai’s mood seemed to be much better than that afternoon. He came up to Bai Yiyi, smiling as he looked at her; after a moment, he unclasped the keychain from his waist and stretched it towards Bai Yiyi’s mouth.

”What’s wrong with you?”

Bai Yiyi stepped back, glaring at him with furrowed brows.

Gu Kai chuckled, his handsome eyebrows arching: ”You could hang a keychain on your mouth, Bai Yiyi. It’s just a bowl of noodles, I’m doing this for your sake.”

”For my sake, are you sick in the head?”

Bai Yiyi had just stir-fried the meat.

She didn’t immediately boil the water for the noodles; instead, she started to do so when she estimated he would be arriving shortly.

Just now, as Gu Kai entered the house, she was boiling the water, placing the noodles into the pot.

”Here, take the chopsticks and boil it yourself.”

Bai Yiyi thrust the chopsticks into Gu Kai’s hand and turned to leave.

Gu Kai wouldn’t let her go; he reached out and clutched her wrist. As Bai Yiyi turned around, he pulled her back toward him. The force he used was a little strong, and she couldn’t stop her momentum, plunging directly into his arms.

Her forehead bumped against his thin lips, and that rascal of a man not only did not let go but also wrapped his other arm around her.

Bai Yiyi’s face flushed with anger as she struggled: ”Let me go.”

Too close for comfort, their breaths entangled, her heartbeat once again irregularly quickened.

The depth in Gu Kai’s gaze intensified as he stared at her flushed face, a ripple of emotion within him. His sexy Adam’s apple moved up and down, his voice slightly husky: ”Bai Yiyi.”

Bai Yiyi stiffened, her eyes warily fixed on him, ”Let go of me!”

”Can’t you be gentle?”

Gu Kai’s good-looking brows slightly knitted, his eyes sweeping over her lips. Under the light, her lips were fresh and rosy, stimulated by the unique fragrance emanating from her body, stirring something uncontrollably within him.

”Gu Kai.”

Bai Yiyi’s heart fluttered with panic as she struggled desperately, but the strength of the man before her made her feel as if his grip on her waist was not a hand, but a pair of iron pincers.

His husky and deep voice lingered in her ear; ”Don’t speak.”

Bai Yiyi blinked, a hint of bewilderment on her face; in the next second, the handsome features of the man before her loomed closer, his thin lips slowly pressing down...
