Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2896: Chapter 2897: The Luo Family’s Choice

”Master, are you talking about that Dream Demon?” Jianqi was startled.

”Isn’t it so? Think about it, the Dancing Girls have already been sent away, the Dream Demon has left her body, and after that, nobody knows where the Dancing Girls have been sold to. But if the Dream Demon wants to continue causing trouble at Sun Residence, she naturally has to choose a new target.”

Bai Ruozhu smiled, ”This person has to be convenient for her to target, yet not an officer.”

”An officer?” Jianqi seemed puzzled.

”I’ve heard that those monsters cannot possess an officer, at least, if their abilities aren’t enough. Otherwise, wouldn’t that disrupt the imperial order?” Bai Ruozhu explained.

Jianqi had roughly heard about this and nodded, ”Shall we go capture Kong Er now?”

”No need, the Dream Demon must have escaped after succeeding; Aosong and the Astrologer were pressing her too tightly before, and she was also scared.” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Alright, I’ll have someone keep an eye on Kong Er.” Jianqi said.

”Good.”

After Jianqi left, Diao Shengyan checked on Jiang Yichun’s condition. Having been detoxified, his body felt weak, and his arm was in pain, resulting in more sleep now.

She instructed Muyu to take good care of Jiang Yichun and then went to find Aosong to go out.

”Where are we headed? To deal with that Sun lady?” Aosong seemed eager, almost more impatient than Bai Ruozhu herself.

Bai Ruozhu laughed, ”Why deal with her? We’re going to check on the Luo Family.”

”Oh.” Feeling uninterested, Aosong couldn’t help but ask again, ”Do you really think it’s okay to leave Luo Family unchecked? She’s not suited to stay in the city for long.”

”I’m also worried, but right now she can’t make any moves,” Bai Ruozhu pursed her lips, ”If we could transfer those Wandering Souls to Cliff Village so they can’t return to Xunyang City, it might be much better.”

”There’s a phenomenon there that can transfer them back. This matter also reveals that the Thousand-eyed Monster has been here for twenty years, lurking really deep.” Aosong squinted her eyes, ”Ruozhu, we all need to be careful about this; even teaming up with the Astrologer, we might not be a match for him.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”In a few days, we’ll be leaving. Having hidden for so long, he likely won’t venture into the city to cause chaos. We will plan to deal with him later.”

It’s not sensible to risk our lives when we can’t defeat him.

”You better protect your Emperor; he’s the most dangerous one after all.” Aosong said, yet her tone showed complete disregard; she didn’t care about Tang Yin’s fate at all.

The two boarded the horse carriage and soon reached the Luo Family.

Before entering, they heard crying from inside, and Bai Ruozhu felt a tightness in her heart. She had interacted with Luo Family numerous times, knowing Luo Family to be either asleep or looking sickly, but she had never witnessed Luo Family crying like this...something was off.

She tugged Aosong, signaling her to be cautious before entering the room.

The room was in a mess; tables and chairs had fallen, and shards of bowls and dishes were scattered everywhere, as if a fierce struggle had just occurred.

Fang Qing sat to one side, while Aluo lay on the floor, unsure of what happened.

Luo Family’s hair was disheveled, her face covered as she cried in deep sorrow.

”Auntie, what’s wrong?” Not wanting to startle her, Bai Ruozhu spoke softly as she slowly approached.

Upon hearing her voice, Luo Family looked up, revealing her swollen red eyes, ”Ruozhu, they’re all gone!”

After speaking, she embraced Bai Ruozhu’s waist and broke out into tears, seemingly needing to release all her emotions.

Bai Ruozhu felt a pang in her heart, gently stroking her hair, and soothingly reassured her, ”It’s okay, everything will be alright.”

Aosong went over and squatted for a closer look, her expression changing subtly, she signaled to Bai Ruozhu and mouthed: ”Turned into wooden figures.”

Bai Ruozhu’s eyes widened, realizing it wasn’t that they had turned into wooden figures, but that they were wooden figures all along!

The opposing party was likely angry with her for disobedience or perceived her as no longer useful, thus taking back ”Fang Qing” and ”Aluo.”

Looking at the lifeless ”Aluo” on the ground, Bai Ruozhu felt choked up. Although she knew they were merely wax figures, having interacted with Aluo before, he was like a child slightly older than her Xiaosi, kind-hearted with a warm disposition.

”I know they’re all fake, not real people, yet I can’t help but feel sad. Alone in the cold, at least they returned to keep me company, but it was all false.” Luo Family said amidst her sobs.

Bai Ruozhu held her, ”Aunt, come with us. My mother has arrived; she’s your brother’s sister, and you would want to meet her, wouldn’t you?”

”Chushuang?” Luo Family raised her head to look at Bai Ruozhu, ”Aqing in his dying breath was talking about his sister, apologizing for not protecting her well, but alas, now Aqing can no longer see.”

This statement made her even sadder, tears flowing uninterrupted.

”They can still come back to life,” Aosong suddenly said.

Bai Ruozhu turned to her, ”Do you have a way?”

”They were made from the previous year’s Hao Mu; the larger one is problematic, but the smaller one has developed intelligence, which is what people often refer to as becoming animate, so there’s hope for saving them.” Aosong looked at Luo Family, ”It just depends if you want to save them.”

Luo Family was stunned, and after a while, looked at Bai Ruozhu, asking, ”If they come back, will they continue to be controlled by that person? Will they hurt you?”

Bai Ruozhu’s heart trembled; even amidst her sorrow and longing for companionship, desperate to escape loneliness, her immediate concern was for Bai Ruozhu’s safety. Luo Family truly was a kind soul, which was why Fang Qing had given her his blood before he died, knowing she wouldn’t use the Merfolk’s special abilities to harm anyone.

”I can’t say for sure; they should be creations of the Thousand-eyed Monster, and the possibility of future control is unknown.” Aosong said.

Luo Family hastily shook her head, ”No, I won’t risk harming Ruozhu for my own benefit, besides, they’re not really Fang Qing or Aluo, I’ve been deceiving myself all along.”

With that, her eyes reddened again.

”Aluo has some spirit; I couldn’t bear it either.” Bai Ruozhu said, looking at the small figure lying on the ground.

”This time, let’s not be soft-hearted.” Aosong thought a while and suggested, ”Or you could take these two pieces of wood with you, observe for a period, and if there’s no problem, then find a way to revive them.”

This was a compromise, at least in Luo Family’s mind, she wouldn’t directly feel abandoning them, and it might provide some relief.

”Alright, I’ll take them with me.” Bai Ruozhu said.

Luo Family wiped her eyes and tried to gather herself, ”You all should go back; it’s not safe here, but I’ll take care of myself.”

”Aunt, come with me.” Bai Ruozhu said, ”She’s helping me take care of the children; my eldest son is adorable too. Don’t you want to meet them?”

Luo Family was somewhat swayed, ”But if I leave, what about everyone here...”

”Have you considered that they are already dead? They should go where they should; you shouldn’t be dragged down by this for so long. I believe your brother would hope for you to go out and see the world.” Bai Ruozhu said.
