Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2881: Chapter 2882: Immortal Land

”Yes, but it’s rather troublesome. It’s not something that can be cured in just a day or two,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Zhao Shuniang gritted her teeth and knelt on the ground with a thud, ”I beg you to take my son and help cure his illness.”

”But won’t the village chief disagree?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”I’ll plead with the village chief. Once my Zhao Shu is well, he’ll return,” Zhao Shuniang said. ”I believe in this child; he will surely come back.”

Zhao Shu’s eyes glimmered with tears, but they were soon replaced by his signature silly smile. He knew his mother truly cared for him and felt very guilty inside.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”Saving a life is more meritorious than building a Seven-level Pagoda. It’s good if I can help you.”

Zhao Shuniang hurriedly got up, ”I’ll go plead with the village chief now. Madam, you rest first; I’ll see you tomorrow morning.”

After saying that, she took Zhao Shu and rushed off. Zhao Shu still smiled foolishly at the wandering souls, and many of them began to discuss upon seeing this scene.

”Has she gone so mad that she trusts outsiders? What if they’re just enticing her to sell her child?”

”Are you mad? How much can a silly child be sold for?”

”Will they go out and tell others about our secrets?”

”A fool wouldn’t do that, right?”

”We mustn’t let those sanctimonious outsiders know, or they’ll come to capture us. How will we reunite with our loved ones then?”

The wandering souls were discussing when Kuai Zheng soon learned about the situation.

”No, no one can leave!” Kuai Zheng said resolutely, ”The Immortal Family has instructed, if Zhao Shu leaves, and the Immortal Family gets angry, then no one from the village will be allowed to go to the Immortal Land.”

Zhao Shuniang was displeased when she heard that, ”Village Chief, I respect you as an elder and admire your fair dealings, but how can you be so biased? It’s forbidden to leave, but how did your Kuai Xian leave? If the Immortal Family is angry, shouldn’t they be mad at Kuai Xian?”

Zhao Shuniang was formidable, standing with her hands on her hips, ”My Zhao Shu is leaving to get treatment. Once he’s well, he’ll definitely return. But your Kuai Xian fled from a wedding, who knows where she went. Even if someone brings her back, would she dare to kill people just to escape? Will she ever come back?”

Kuai Zheng’s face turned red and white from being scolded, pointing at Zhao Shuniang, ”Stop making a scene here. If you continue, the Immortal Family won’t allow you and Zhao Shu’s father to go to the Immortal Land.”

Zhao Shuniang suddenly gritted her teeth, ”I’ll go plead with the Immortal Family myself, even if they blame, I’ll bear it alone. As long as my Zhao Shu can get better, I’d even go to Hell.”

Zhao Shu couldn’t help but cry beside her, ”Mother...”

The cry startled his mother, she grabbed his hand and asked, ”Do you recognize me now?”

Before Zhao Shu could speak, she immediately exclaimed joyfully, ”The treatment from the madam has worked! My Zhao Shu can really be cured!”

Zhao Shu felt suffocated inside, longing to call his parents to leave with him, but they wouldn’t listen.

When he was little, he wanted to leave after seeing that multi-eyed demon. But his parents were determined to serve the Immortal Family, saying after death they could go to the Immortal Land and reunite with loved ones.

Once he asked, ”Then why haven’t we seen any deceased elders or ancestors from our family?”

His parents confidently answered, ”It’s a pity they didn’t serve the Immortal Family, so they didn’t make it to the Immortal Land. We must listen to the Immortal Family, then we can become Immortals.”

He was about six years old at the time, and his heart sank. He angrily said what Immortal Family, clearly they were demons.

As a result, his father slapped him, and he fell to the ground, his head hitting a table leg and fainting.

This alarmed the villagers, including the village chief. When Zhao Shu woke up, the village chief appeared very concerned, but was clearly fishing for information on where he played.

At that moment, Zhao Shu felt despair and fear, turning silent and dumb, unable to speak. Someone said, ”Isn’t this child becoming foolish?”

Suddenly, he thought he had to play dumb, he must feign foolishness.

He acted like this for almost ten years.

During this time, he repeatedly tested his parents’ attitudes, but they had unwavering faith in the Immortal Family. As he grew older, understanding the difficulty of leaving the mountain, he felt increasingly hopeless.

Until Bai Ruozhu and the others appeared.

”No way, this is absurd, I won’t agree to Zhao Shu leaving.” Kuai Zheng shouted, his voice reaching outside, startling many Wandering Souls. Bai Ruozhu, having good hearing, also heard.

She winked at the others, Kuai Zheng was held up by Zhao Shu’s mother. As long as they got past these wandering souls, they could investigate the forbidden land.

”Xiaohui, you go distract those wandering souls,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Should I let them see me?” Xiaohui pouted, ”I’m afraid I’ll scare them to death.”

Bai Ruozhu rolled her eyes, ”You think they recognize you? Hide first and make sounds to distract them.”

”Oh, okay.” Xiaohui felt very wronged, it was such a majestic Wolf Soul, yet no one recognized it?

Those were ordinary deceased villagers; how many of them had seen a Wolf Soul?

Xiaohui swiftly jumped out of the window, moved to the other side, and raised its head toward the sky, howling a call only heard by Wandering Souls.

”Aaah...”

Immediately, all the Wandering Souls were startled, searching for the source of the sound.

”How is there a wolf howling? Could it be that Immortal Treasure brought the wolves?”

”How is that possible! Nothing like this was brought over these years!”

”Could it be a deceased wolf? We’d better hurry back to the Immortal Land.”

”...”

The Wandering Souls chatted away, but some dared to seek Xiaohui. Alas, Xiaohui was too agile; they couldn’t find it at all.

Bai Ruozhu’s side had already quietly circled near the forbidden land, with Astrologer and Ao Song casting spells together, attempting to break the illusionary barriers nearby.

Unfortunately, after a long effort, they found nothing—no view-obstructing array, nor naturally formed barriers.

”Could it be the wrong location or that our skill level isn’t enough?” Ao Song asked somewhat impatiently.

Astrologer was much calmer, ”Maybe we haven’t encountered the right moment; discovering Heavenly and Earthly Phenomena often requires the right timing.”

Bai Ruozhu also called Furball and Xiaohei to roam around, but sadly, they found nothing.

”Let me try,” Jiang Yichun said, activating his merfolk abilities to condense the surrounding mist into water, ”I remember you mentioned the mist on the mountainside is unusual; maybe the problem lies in the mist.”

When he arrived here, he felt very comfortable; it was full of mist with high water content, which he could freely manipulate.

The mist was condensed into water, gradually gathering from scattered parts to form a whirlpool.

”Look!” Bai Ruozhu exclaimed joyfully, pointing to the center. Around it was a mist-formed whirlpool, but the middle was empty. Looking inside, they could see some sights: houses, streets, though it was too dark to see clearly.

”Is that the Immortal Land they talked about over there?” Jiang Yichun asked.
