Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2893: Chapter 2894: Clues

”No impression, I was having a magic duel with someone.” Ao Song said reluctantly.

”Yes, yes, magic duel, you won.” Bai Ruozhu laughed mischievously.

Ao Song ignored her, picked up the Hangover Soup, and drank it with a frown.

”You go ahead, I need to bathe.” Last night, the maid helped her wash, but she still felt uncomfortable and needed a good scrub.

”Okay, I’m going to chat with the astrologer.” Bai Ruozhu grinned wickedly as she walked out.

Ao Song was embarrassed and annoyed, ”Go find your man!”

”Jealous, jealous, oh yeah.” Bai Ruozhu said and dashed away.

She didn’t really go to the astrologer; she was just teasing Ao Song. She wasn’t particularly familiar with the astrologer either.

Jianqi had been investigating all night and found some clues.

”Master, the Sun Residence recently bought two new maids, and the new addition is the dancing girl. We haven’t found anything else yet.” Jianqi reported.

”Dancing girl?” Bai Ruozhu squinted. She had seen that naked dancing girl face to face, truly beautiful enough to make someone drool. Even she found it hard to control herself, let alone men.

However, the dancing girl wasn’t carrying anything suspicious at the time and had no inner strength, appearing just as a regular person, so she let the dancing girl leave.

But after discovering a problem, she couldn’t find the dancing girl.

The issue most likely lies with the dancing girl.

”Did you find anyone in the Sun Family?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”No, we’ve looked inside and out, and someone mentioned she escaped to find a lover.” Jianqi replied.

Bai Ruozhu pondered for a moment, ”It seems the poison wasn’t recent; she probably fled long ago, making her hard to find.”

”Master, perhaps we should wait and see?” Jianqi suggested.

”Wait and see?” Bai Ruozhu smiled, ”That’s a good idea, let’s do that.”

In the distance, hurried footsteps approached, and a guard rushed over.

”Master Bai, Madam Sun brought people to make a fuss, saying they want you to come out. His Majesty has already arranged for someone to persuade them, requesting you not to go out today.” The guard said.

”Alright, please thank His Majesty for me.”

Sun Zhou died suddenly, everyone saw Bai Ruozhu poke him with a needle, yet the emperor didn’t punish Bai Ruozhu, not even detaining her, making the Sun Family furious.

Madam Sun, the daughter of a martial family, was bolder than ordinary women, and with some relatives in tow, stirred up trouble at the Guest Palace, saying she wanted to file an Imperial Decree.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t rush back to the room; she didn’t want to tell Jiang Yichun about this, as he was still recovering from injuries, and she didn’t want him to worry.

She sighed, wishing she hadn’t been so impulsive at the time, but if she could do it again, she would still deal with Sun Zhou. She wouldn’t allow anyone to disturb her while detoxifying Achun.

”Master, what should we do now? Should we use that incident to scare her a bit?” Jianqi asked.

The incident referred to was the affair between Sun Zhou’s illegitimate son Kong Er and Madam Sun.

”Not yet, check who Madam Sun trusts the most around her?” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Yes.”

Jianqi indeed acted swiftly, by the time Bai Ruozhu finished preparing some medicine, Jianqi had already found out.

”Master, it’s the wet nurse Ding Mama with Madam Sun.” Jianqi said.

Bai Ruozhu wiped her hands and said, ”Ding Mama should be very loyal, right? Arrange for someone to meet Ding Mama, remind her if the matter about Madam Sun goes public, the circumstances around Sun Zhou’s death will be open to speculation.”

”Yes.” Jianqi responded.

”Also, keep an eye on that Kong Er, see if there’s anything suspicious about him.” Bai Ruozhu added.

This Kong Er, saved by his father in a substitute for the prince plot, should know his own background, yet managed to infiltrate the Sun Residence, and even seduced Madam Sun under his father’s nose. Quite extraordinary indeed.

Not long after Jianqi left, someone announced from outside that Gao De and the officer requested an audience.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t want to see anyone at this time, as explanations were exhausting, but Gao De was considered an old friend who had always diligently reported to her, not meeting him wouldn’t be fair.

Besides, she was somewhat interested in meeting the officer.

Gao De soon brought the officer inside, whose surname was Niu, and he looked younger than Gao De.

”Greetings to Master Bai.” Officer Niu saluted solemnly, Bai Ruozhu’s rank was much higher than his.

”No need for formalities. You’re here to question me, right? About Sun Zhou’s incident?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Officer Niu hesitated, seemingly pondering how to start.

Bai Ruozhu smiled, ”Speak freely.”

”I’ve recently encountered some trouble. Madam Sun sent a dancing girl to my residence; my wife is a jealous type and immediately sold her off. Then...” He paused, ”I found someone secretly investigating the whereabouts of the dancing girl near my home and discovered it was one of Master Bai’s people.”

Hey, this Officer Niu is quite perceptive; Jianqi wasn’t present now. If he were, he’d be embarrassed for sure.

Their dark guards investigating were discovered by the other party, despite her instructing them not to alert anyone.

”It was my mishandling, I came specifically to ask for Master Bai’s forgiveness.” Officer Niu said, bowing respectfully again.

”No harm done, it’s not a big matter.” Bai Ruozhu invited them to sit, instructing a servant to serve them tea.

Once the servant had just left, Officer Niu’s expression changed to one of unusual seriousness.

”Master Bai, I’ve discovered something peculiar about that dancing girl.” He lowered his voice.

”Oh? What’s peculiar?” Bai Ruozhu’s heart tightened; this could be a lead.

”The dancing girl is extremely beautiful, as a man I couldn’t help but look at her a few times...” He had just started speaking when he suddenly thought of the rumors outside, his face flushed. This dancing girl had been sent to Master Bai’s husband’s side, reportedly thrown out naked. Would talking about this anger Master Bai?

Gao De sensed his thoughts and quickly said, ”Hurry up and speak, don’t delay the matter.”

”Alright, alright.” Officer Niu’s face turned red, ”I noticed she was extremely beautiful when she first arrived, but at night, she suddenly seemed in great pain, as if her whole body hurt. I thought my wife gave her something out of jealousy, fearing it might lead to a death and wanting to find a doctor, but then she fell to the ground, and appeared weak, then something seemed to come out of her body, and she wasn’t as in pain as before, yet she changed completely.”

”Changed into what?” Bai Ruozhu asked urgently.

”I’m good at observing people, quite accurate at reading them. She looked the same, but her aura and expression were different from before. Also, her skin was snow-white before, with a pearly sheen, yet while she remained white, she seemed lifeless.”

Officer Niu sighed, ”I stared at her frequently, my wife thought I harbored intentions and tricked me into leaving by claiming urgent business at the Government Office. By the time I returned, she had already been sold off.”
