Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2887: Chapter 2888: I Don’t Know You

Ao Song also laughed, ”Why bother each other as women? It’s clearly Sun Zhou’s fault.”

”I’ll go to the Commerce Association to check on this Sun Zhou and then make a plan,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Okay, I’ll go with you,” Ao Song said.

Gao De stood up to leave, ”Then I’ll go back to work, please don’t hesitate to instruct me if there’s anything, Master Bai.”

”Remember to place the talisman in a safe spot at your house so no one can take it,” Ao Song reminded again.

”Okay, okay.”

After Gao De left, Bai Ruozhu and Ao Song also went out and took a horse carriage towards the Commerce Association in Xunyang City.

”What kind of talisman did you give him?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”It’s for the peace of his home. His house is in a bad location with a bit of heavy Yin energy,” Ao Song said.

Bai Ruozhu nodded. Gao De lived close to the Luo Family, where quite a few wandering souls were staying.

”You’re just so kind-hearted,” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.

”I really appreciated what he said about his wife being good. Why look at other people’s wives?” Ao Song said.

Bai Ruozhu also appreciated Gao De’s character, thinking that one’s own wife is the best. That’s what a good man should think.

”And what about you? Did you poison Sun Zhou?” Ao Song asked.

Bai Ruozhu raised an eyebrow, ”Guess!”

”I won’t guess, no need to upset me,” Ao Song pouted.

”Of course I did, he sent someone to climb into my man’s bed, and even went to the Emperor to report against me. If I don’t deal with him, am I still Bai Ruozhu?” Bai Ruozhu said.

Ao Song laughed heartily, ”Well done!”

The two chatted and laughed, and soon they arrived at the Commerce Association of Xunyang City. Bai Ruozhu retrieved her identity token and quickly pulled out Sun Zhou’s dossier from the Commerce Association.

These dossiers are not something that just anyone can view. In fact, many people don’t even know they exist, as it is illegal for the Commerce Association to investigate Imperial Court officials.

But with so many changes in the business field, the Commerce Association can’t help but make some plans for itself.

The steward took out a sealed wooden box and handed it to Bai Ruozhu, not knowing what was inside. Although he was curious, he still followed the rules and withdrew.

Bai Ruozhu used a method known only to the elders of the Commerce Association to slowly open the wooden box, revealing a few sheets of paper as thin as a cicada’s wings.

Some were yellowed with age, having been archived long ago.

One looked quite new, likely recorded recently.

This place doesn’t record trivial matters. Anything recorded here is related to significant events about people, except those the Commerce Association couldn’t investigate.

”In the tenth year of Wen’an, Sun Zhou redeemed Ruyue, a songstress from the brothel, and settled her outside the Residence. Later, she gave birth to a son. When Mrs. Sun found out, she arranged for someone to poison Ruyue and her son. Sun Zhou stole a child from the commoner Wu Family to cover up, making Mrs. Sun think the trouble was eliminated.”

”In the fifteenth year of Wen’an, Sun Zhou was responsible for transporting grain to the North Pass, embezzling three-tenths of it to fill his Private Storage Room. He then used old grain and rotten rice as a substitute. When the matter was exposed, he used his position to frame the grain supplier, the Li family, causing the Li family’s male members to be exiled beyond the pass.”

”In the third year of Xinwu, Ruyue’s son, Kong Er, infiltrated the Sun Residence as a servant and had an affair with Mrs. Sun...”

Reading the last entry, Bai Ruozhu burst into laughter.

”Karma, it’s absolute karma!” Ao Song couldn’t help but curse after seeing it clearly, ”Such a shameless person deserves to be cuckolded, and by his own son, haha.”

Bai Ruozhu noticed an issue. The records here did not mention anything about the Sun family’s Clinic, possibly because there wasn’t any important handle on it, or the Sun family’s Clinic wasn’t directly managed by Sun Zhou and still retained the ancestral rules passed down.

Then why was he giving her trouble because the Clinic wasn’t doing well?

Or perhaps because the Clinic was about to fall into his hands, and he thought he was getting a piece of fat meat, only to find out it barely makes any money now, causing his furious frustration.

Bai Ruozhu sealed and stored the dossier before leaving the Commerce Association.

”Jianqi, send a dark guard to investigate Sun Zhou’s mistress, Ruyue. Also, see if Sun Zhou hasn’t been visiting the brothel recently or getting cozy with any woman,” Bai Ruozhu ordered.

”Yes.”

”Just kill him already, and if your Emperor complains, you can come with me to the Western Regions. There are not so many rules there,” Ao Song said impatiently.

”I still have family and friends in Danliang. How can I just break the law and kill someone?” Bai Ruozhu disagreed.

Ao Song was helpless, ”Alright, I won’t worry about it anymore. Anyway, you can still easily deal with him.”

After saying that, she pulled Bai Ruozhu to find a restaurant, but from afar came the cry of a woman: ”Help, help me!”

A woman was being chased by two strong men, and she was about to be caught.

”Isn’t that someone from the Yicui Building? Another one trying to escape.” Someone on the roadside recognized the two strong men and whispered.

”She can’t get away. She’ll surely get beaten once she’s caught and will obediently entertain guests after a while,” someone beside her chuckled, ”Looks like a chick. Let’s go watch the show by then.”

”Watch what? Can we afford it?”

”That’s why I said watch the show. Who told you to buy her first night?”

The woman’s face was stained with tears and snot, her eyes full of despair. She knew she couldn’t escape.

Suddenly, she saw Bai Ruozhu and rushed towards Bai Ruozhu and Ao Song.

Bai Ruozhu pulled Ao Song back a step, avoiding the woman’s body, and the woman fell heavily to the ground.

”It’s you, help me, I’m Kuai Xian!” Kuai Xian thought of her pitiful state right now, quickly reaching out to fix her hair and wipe her face, ”We met on the mountain, I’m begging you to save me, they’re tricking me into the brothel and want me to sleep with people.”

She said this as she burst into tears, looking very pitiful.

The strong men chasing her stopped in front and saw Bai Ruozhu and Ao Song’s luxurious clothes and secretly speculated their identity, pondering whether this woman was worth provoking.

”Do we know each other?” Bai Ruozhu looked down at Kuai Xian and asked.

Kuai Xian’s eyes were filled with surprise, but she quickly realized and pleaded through tears, ”Madam, I know I was wrong, I shouldn’t have pushed that person, but I really don’t want to go back, please save me one more time, I’ll do anything in return.”

Bai Ruozhu sighed, ”Miss, you must be mistaken. I sympathize with your situation, but I really don’t know you. My family’s situation is unique, and I can’t take in people of unknown origin, I’m sorry.”

After saying that, she pulled Ao Song, bypassing Kuai Xian, and walked away.

”How can you be so heartless? We’re both women, and you just watch me being taken away by them? My grandpa won’t let you go if he finds out!” Kuai Xian yelled angrily, trying to rush at Bai Ruozhu again, but the two strong men grabbed her and lifted her up from both sides.

Bai Ruozhu stopped and slowly turned back, ”These days, helping others depends on capacity. I’ve never heard of being scolded for being unable to help someone.”
