Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2774: Chapter 2775: Misfortune Curse

Can he truly let go of his inner demons? Is she someone he can really trust?

Bai Ruozhu went to find Yaxi, who was practicing weaving. Yaxi was very interested in Bai Ruozhu’s weaving technique and had learned a lot from Teng Ya.

”You’re awake? You must be exhausted,” Yaxi said as she put aside her work.

Bai Ruozhu found a chair to sit on, took Yaxi’s work and looked at it, giving her some pointers.

”When we return to the Capital, Yizi and Jianqi are getting married, and you can make her a gift,” Bai Ruozhu purposely said.

”Yizi and Jianqi are getting married?” Yaxi was surprised.

Bai Ruozhu laughed, ”Didn’t you know they were a couple?”

She laughed as she recounted their embarrassing stories: one being shy, the other serious and cold, and yet they ended up with a cliff-jumping incident.

Yaxi couldn’t help but laugh, feeling much better; it turned out she had misunderstood, and there was nothing between Yizi and Tang Feng.

Gathering her courage, she asked, ”Now that others are getting married, does Mr. Tang have a marriage arrangement?”

”You finally brought it up; I thought you were holding it in,” Bai Ruozhu bluntly pointed out.

Yaxi’s face flushed red, ”Sister Ruozhu!”

”Alright, let me be honest with you. Tang Feng is like a brother to me, and I’ve always wanted him to be happy, but his luck hasn’t been great.” She slowly continued, ”The Emperor of Danliang Country once arranged a marriage for him, to marry a princess from Chengshui Country.”

Yaxi’s face fell, her heart clenched tightly. Bai Ruozhu couldn’t bear to tease her and quickly continued with the story.

The story was long, and it took them nearly two hours to finish talking it through.

”Mr. Tang is so pitiful,” Yaxi couldn’t help but cry.

”Don’t cry; otherwise, your parents might think I’m bullying you,” Bai Ruozhu hurriedly helped her wipe her tears.

Yaxi smiled through her tears, ”Even if you bully me, they wouldn’t help me but scold me for bothering you.”

”Impossible.” Bai Ruozhu laughed, ”Actually, Tang Feng has some shadows in his heart, can’t forget the past, and doesn’t dare to accept love easily. But who doesn’t want happiness? Plus, he’s not very healthy; unless a woman truly loves him and cares for him, she can’t possibly understand and tend to his feelings. None of us want him to endure heartbreak again.”

Yaxi was stunned; she wanted to say she was sincere, would never betray him, and wouldn’t disappoint him. But what right did she have to say such things?

Her parents would always return to Fusang; could she just ignore her parents?

If she were to return with them, wouldn’t that hurt Tang Feng again?

Bai Ruozhu saw her worry and thought for a moment before saying, ”In the future, Fusang and Danliang will engage in trade, and Fusang will certainly need officials stationed in Danliang, just like how countries stationed ambassadors where I lived before. Your father could request such a position, allowing him to reside in the Capital.”

”Can it really be done this way?” Yaxi asked.

”Better to check if you like the place first, if it suits you,” Bai Ruozhu said with a smile.

Yaxi and Tang Feng liked each other, but not deeply in love yet; they shouldn’t rush it—it’s better to let things unfold naturally.

She only needed to ensure Yaxi didn’t mind Tang Feng’s past.

”Sister Ruozhu, I don’t know what to say to him. If possible, could you tell him that the past wasn’t his fault, he shouldn’t be burdened by it, I understand his pain, and I don’t mind his past, I just...”

Her face flushed, ”I just feel sorry for him.”

”Alright, I’ll definitely convey your message.” Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but laugh.

Yaxi quickly grabbed her, ”Wait, maybe don’t say it, it’s too straightforward, he might look down on me. Isn’t it said that Zhongyuan men don’t like women being too proactive?”

”Don’t worry, you need to be proactive with him; he’s not a conservative person,” Bai Ruozhu said.

After Bai Ruozhu left, a shy smile appeared on Yaxi’s face; maybe she and Tang Feng could really be together. But whether he liked her or not was something else.

She began searching in her cabinet, having just made Zhongyuan-style clothes, planning to wear them for dinner.

At dinner, when Tang Feng saw Yaxi in Zhongyuan attire, he smiled at her, saying, ”Looks nice.”

Yaxi’s heart jumped with joy, thinking she’d wear such clothes from now on.

Soon everyone gathered for dinner, and Bai Ruozhu secretly observed the two, laughing inwardly as she thought her matchmaking efforts might succeed again.

”I checked Ling Bo’s situation this afternoon; it’s very likely he’s been cursed with bad luck, the kind of curse only ancient sorcerers in Fusang could cast,” the Astrologer spoke up, ”I need to rest and perform a ritual tomorrow to understand it fully.”

Yuan Licheng exclaimed, ”Not tomorrow, do it tonight; who knows what might happen overnight. I haven’t slept well for nights.”

Everyone couldn’t help but laugh; Ling Bo truly brought endless trouble, especially at night.

”Astrologer, I’ll accompany you, let’s solve it tonight; helping him will also spare us some trouble,” Ning Yu said.

”Alright, once I’m full, we’ll start,” the Astrologer agreed.

Unexpectedly, just as dinner began, trouble struck again; the mast inexplicably broke.

This is Harmony, sturdier than the other two ships, how could the mast break?

”It must be because of those Birdmen sleeping atop the mast!” Fo Lanying gritted his teeth.

Bai Ruozhu was speechless too; Bei Gui and his crew obediently stood on the deck now, without any inclination to stay high.

”Mrs. Bai, we’re really sorry; we’ll help you fix it,” Bei Gui said quickly.

”Luckily, no one was hurt; we’ll deal with repairs later, let’s first solve Ling Bo’s issue,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Bei Gui and the others were suddenly anxious, ”No way! Ling Bo is our kin as well.”

Bai Ruozhu noticed their misunderstanding and couldn’t help but laugh, ”I meant solving his troubles, not eliminating him!”

Bei Gui hesitated, then burst into laughter, ”Oh, we misunderstood; though we have thought about eliminating him, his curses are terrifying.”

Bai Ruozhu laughed even harder, ”No wonder he’s always so scared; he’s probably aware of your thoughts.”

Bei Gui shook his head with a smile, ”We’re kin, would we really kill him? Our Golden Wings Clan is diminishing, we cherish each member dearly.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, admitting that the Golden Wings Clan was indeed very united, much more than the Merfolk.

Bai Ruozhu explained Ling Bo’s situation to Bei Gui and his crew, leaving them stunned, ”Such a serious curse, and he’s lived alone for years, lasting this long? Even away from home, it affects him?”
