Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2643: Chapter 2644: There Is Always a Reason

It’s unclear whether it was because Yaxi suddenly sat up, or because she shouted so loudly, but the Poisonous Insect that had just climbed onto the bed fell to the ground, causing the still-dazed Yaxi to scream again in fright.

The Poisonous Insect was her nightmare, and now it truly appeared right before her eyes!

Don’t ask her how she knew it was a Poisonous Insect and not an ordinary bug—her eyes could recognize a Poisonous Insect.

Her scream immediately startled the maid outside, who hurriedly asked, ”Miss, what’s wrong? Did you have a nightmare?”

”Quickly call the guards, there are Poisonous Insects! Poisonous Insects!” Yaxi cried out.

The maid was so scared that her knees weakened; though she had never seen a Poisonous Insect, she knew they were formidable. She immediately shouted to those outside, ”Poisonous Insect attack on the Miss, come protect her now!”

Yaxi’s yard wasn’t very large, and combined with the deep silence of the night, Yaxi’s cries of terror and the maid’s pleas for help instantly awakened many people.

In the room at this moment, the Poisonous Insect flapped its wings and attacked Yaxi. Gathering courage from nowhere, Yaxi suddenly grabbed a pillow and blocked the attack. The Poisonous Insect hit the pillow, almost falling to the ground again.

Thinking quickly, Yaxi hurried and wrapped herself tightly with the blanket, hiding her entire body inside it, and pressing down tightly around herself so the Poisonous Insect couldn’t find a way in.

But this made her even more fearful—trapped in the dark space, unable to see anything, not knowing what’s happening outside, and uncertain whether the Poisonous Insect could pierce through the blanket.

Moreover, with the blanket’s heat and stagnant air, she could only hear her increasingly heavy breathing...

Fortunately, the protector had already arrived, and Yaxi’s parents rushed over as well.

The protector charged into the room; unsure how to deal with the Poisonous Insect, they could only swing their swords at it.

A flying Poisonous Insect isn’t easily struck by swords, but at least their actions angered the Poisonous Insect enough to abandon its attack on Yaxi.

Yaxi’s mother, pale with fear, braved her nerves, rushed to the bedside, saying, ”Yaxi, it’s okay now, the guards have stopped the Poisonous Insect.”

Shivering, Yaxi let go of the blanket and threw herself into her mother’s arms, crying.

Just then, one of the protectors cried out in pain and suddenly fell to the ground.

”He was bitten by the Poisonous Insect!” shouted the other protectors.

Yaxi’s eyes widened, and indeed she saw a black spot on the protector’s throat—the Poisonous Insect was on his throat!

”Quickly, take him to the Posthouse to ask Bai for help!” Yaxi’s father reacted swiftly, immediately ordering people to carry the protector onto the horse carriage, while he and Yaxi’s mother followed closely behind, heading straight to the Posthouse.

”Why would Poisonous Insects attack you? Is Song Yi unwilling to let you go?” Along the way, Yaxi’s mother rambled, her face full of terror.

Yaxi, on the contrary, calmed down. Seeing her parents so frightened made her feel deeply guilty.

”I think it’s because I suddenly can see whether others are attacked by Poisonous Insects; he wants to kill me to silence me,” Yaxi said.

Yaxi’s parents looked at her in shock, and she had no choice but to explain, ”I don’t know why, but ever since a Poisonous Insect entered my body, after I got better I could see Poisonous Insects hidden in others’ bodies, including exactly where they are.”

”How did Song Yi find out? Can’t you pretend you can’t see it?” Yaxi’s mother quickly said.

”I guess there’s some connection; pretending won’t work,” Yaxi sighed.

Yaxi’s mother suddenly embraced her and started crying, ”My poor daughter, how could you go through all this!”

Yaxi’s father, however, was much calmer. Seriously, he said, ”Let’s send our daughter to be Bai’s maid; only with Bai can Yaxi safely live on, I’m afraid we can’t completely protect her.”

”Dad!” Yaxi called out urgently.

Yaxi’s father patted her hand, ”I know you’ll miss us, but only if you live safely, can we be at peace.”

By this time, the horse carriage had arrived at the gate of the Posthouse; Yaxi’s mother hurriedly dried her tears, ”Yes, as long as our daughter’s safe, that’s enough.”

Bai Ruozhu was once again awakened in the middle of the night; Song Yi always acted at night, half of the ten nights she couldn’t get a decent night’s sleep.

Learning of Yaxi’s situation, she quickly checked Yaxi, finding that she hadn’t been touched by the Poisonous Insect.

But when she was about to treat the protector, he suddenly stopped breathing.

She released Xiaomao, and at that moment, the Poisonous Insect burst out from the protector’s throat; Xiaomao flew over and directly bit it to death.

Witnessing the sudden events, Yaxi’s mother, frightened, went limp and fell to the ground.

If her daughter hadn’t awakened now, it would probably have been Yaxi lying there.

”He suffered on my behalf, dad, mom, please aid his family,” Yaxi cried, devastated. Previously her maid had died because of her, and now the protector died saving her. Her heart filled with self-reproach.

Bai Ruozhu wrapped an arm around her shoulder, comforting her a bit before sighing, ”Yaxi is likely targeted by Song Yi. Better for her to stay at the Posthouse.”

Yaxi’s father showed gratitude, ”Bai, we beg you to take Yaxi as your maid!”

He said, bowing deeply, and Yaxi’s mother hastily rose to join him in bowing.

Bai Ruozhu hurriedly helped them up, ”Yaxi is my friend; if you’re willing, let her follow me. We’ll call each other sisters; she doesn’t need to be my maid.”

”Willing, willing.” Yaxi’s mother was reduced to tears. She was utterly unwilling, but had to be.

With the commotion, it had gotten late; Bai Ruozhu simply asked Teng Ya to prepare another Guest room for Yaxi’s parents for the night, while Yaxi stayed in the room she previously used.

Finishing all arrangements, Tang Feng suddenly called out to Bai Ruozhu.

”Ruozhu, have you considered why Yaxi alone gained this ability after removing the Poisonous Insect, and why Song Yi is specifically targeting her?”

Bai Ruozhu’s heart tightened, ”I’ll find time to talk with Yaxi’s parents tomorrow.”

Tang Feng nodded, ”Every event has a cause; there’s surely something special about it.”

Bai Ruozhu glanced at him again, ”You seem quite concerned about Yaxi’s situation.”

”What are you implying?” Tang Feng’s lip twitched, ”Right now, my heart is as calm as still water; don’t go messing with the Red Line.”

Bai Ruozhu chuckled, ”I haven’t said anything; why so nervous? Could it be that you already have plans? Or else why mention the Red Line? I haven’t done anything.”

Tang Feng’s face flushed a bit, annoyed he said, ”You of all people know my situation. Don’t mess around with things like that.”

Finished speaking, he turned to leave, but Bai Ruozhu called after him.

”Tang Feng, I think your body is fine, but perhaps you bear a psychological shadow, or you’re stuck at a hurdle. If someone can accompany you through it, everything will be different,” Bai Ruozhu stated.
