Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2639: Chapter 2640: A Man Gets Pregnant

When Shanhu woke up, it was as if only a moment had passed. She heard Bai Ruozhu say, ”It’s done, everything is fine.”

”Has the poisonous insect been expelled?” Shanhu asked with surprise.

”It has been expelled, but you need to take good care of yourself in the coming days, otherwise it won’t be good for the child.” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Alright, alright, I’ll definitely be more careful.” Shanhu hurriedly agreed.

She was not talking about whether to keep this child, but rather that she should be more cautious and protect the child well.

This is motherly love, even if initially there is much reluctance, deep down there is always love for the child.

Bai Ruozhu instructed Shanhu to rest well, then left the room.

She then found Jiang Yichun and Gao Zhou to discuss the situation, both were surprised, not expecting that the poisonous insect had already entered the posthouse.

”I fear Song Yi left it here earlier. He likely sowed seed poisonous insects, the offspring of the Mother Poisonous Insect, in many places. These seed insects mostly remain dormant, waking only when sensing the presence of a pregnant woman and thereby seeking every possible means to enter her body.” Bai Ruozhu shared her speculation.

”I’m not sure if there are more in the posthouse. It’s best to conduct a thorough check.” Gao Zhou said.

Bai Ruozhu nodded, took out some drug powder, ”I’m planning to spread this powder everywhere to expel the poisonous insects, just as an extra precaution.”

”That’s a good idea.” Gao Zhou replied.

Bai Ruozhu glanced at his face, ”Father, won’t you remove your human skin mask?”

Gao Zhou was somewhat embarrassed, ”Ahem, I’ve just gotten used to wearing it. Since I said I wouldn’t wear it, I’ll avoid it unless something special happens.”

Some people are like this, accustomed to using a fake face, uncomfortable revealing their true appearance, feeling bare without their human skin mask.

Gao Zhou tapped certain spots on his face and quickly removed a thin human skin mask, revealing his true appearance.

Bai Ruozhu noticed his complexion was slightly pale, clearly due to long coverage, and his features were just as imagined, resembling Achun in appearance.

This was precisely why he had refused to remove his human skin mask, as anyone seeing his face could guess his relationship with Jiang Yichun.

Feeling a bit shy under the gaze of his son and daughter-in-law, he subconsciously touched his chin and noticed his beard was gone, adding another layer of awkwardness.

His human skin mask had attached facial hair, but he had to shave cleanly underneath it, otherwise, the mask would not fit well.

”Father, you look younger without a beard.” Jiang Yichun said with a smile.

Bai Ruozhu discreetly shot him a look, thinking that perhaps saying nothing would be better.

Gao Zhou snorted, ”I’m just not used to it. Go back and rest, don’t keep bothering me.”

Bai Ruozhu pulled Jiang Yichun away, and as soon as they returned to the room she said, ”Your father is stubborn, and you just had to mention the beard.”

”I didn’t say anything unpleasant, just the truth.” Jiang Yichun responded.

”Alright then, I understand, you’re sharp with words but not doing it on purpose, you just love speaking the truth.” Bai Ruozhu said helplessly.

Jiang Yichun laughed, ”Anyway, it’s late, let’s rest.”

He hugged his wife’s slender waist, intending to share a tender moment, but then a knock at the door interrupted them.

Jiang Yichun suddenly became very annoyed, wondering why someone kept knocking at their door at night lately, when would it end!

”Sir Jiang, Sir Bai, there’s an urgent matter, an urgent matter!” Lord Da Gu’s voice came from outside.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun exchanged a glance, both saw impatience in each other’s eyes.

This Fusang Royal Family, won’t they ever stop bothering them.

”Master, should we open the door?” Jianqi asked in a low voice outside.

”No!” Jiang Yichun said decisively.

Bai Ruozhu tugged at him, and told Jianqi, ”Open it, let’s see what’s happening.”

”Alright.”

Jianqi went to open the door, only to see Lord Da Gu with an unpleasant expression and beads of sweat on his forehead.

”Lord Da Gu, what’s happening?” Jianqi asked.

”I urgently need to see Sir Bai, it’s a serious matter.” Lord Da Gu whispered, evidently some words need to remain discreet.

Bai Ruozhu had already come out from within the room, went over and asked, ”Speak, what’s happening in the Imperial Palace now?”

”Prince Wen De has been found, but he remembers nothing, and...” Lord Da Gu stretched out his words with a conflicted expression, paused before saying, ”He’s pregnant.”

”Pff...” Jiang Yichun couldn’t help but burst out laughing, ”Can men get pregnant too? Isn’t it true that Wen De has been disguising himself as a man all along?”

Men can’t become pregnant, yet his belly swelled; the Emperor had Imperial Doctors check his pulse, and it was indeed a pregnancy pulse, though he remembers nothing of any incident, nor how he got pregnant.” Lord Da Gu’s expression became even stranger, as though he had seen a ghost.

”Later, somehow the Emperor suddenly felt nausea; the Imperial Doctors immediately checked his pulse, and they said...”

Bai Ruozhu’s eyes widened, ”They said the Emperor also had a pregnancy pulse?”

Lord Da Gu quickly nodded, ”At that time, both the Emperor and I thought the Imperial Doctors were mistaken, so we summoned all Imperial Doctors in the palace, and nearly every one of them confirmed the pregnancy pulse, only two were unsure, noting that it wasn’t possible for a man to be pregnant.”

”Could it be that they were affected by a poisonous insect, creating the pulse of pregnancy?” Bai Ruozhu frowned, this was truly baffling.

”Yet the Emperor feels nauseous, just like a pregnant woman.” Lord Da Gu added.

Bai Ruozhu felt puzzled, thought for a moment and then said to Jianqi, ”Go get my medical box, I should visit the palace.”

Jianqi immediately went to fetch the medical box, while Gao Zhou tidied up and proposed, ”I’ll accompany you to take a look, we can discuss it together.”

”Thanks for your hard work, Father.” Bai Ruozhu nodded and said.

At this moment, Yuchen Palace’s door suddenly opened, and Lord Xu Chenzi strode out, ”I’ll go with you to take a look.”

Lord Da Gu was surprised to see a stranger at the posthouse and quickly asked, ”This gentleman is...?”

”I’m Lord Xu Chenzi from Yuchen Palace.” Lord Xu Chenzi showed her badge.

Lord Da Gu immediately showed great respect, ”Oh, an elder from Yuchen Palace, forgive my rudeness.”

Bai Ruozhu pondered a bit; like the Jiuli Clan, Yuchen Palace holds a mysterious status but is distinguished in Zhongyuan and treated with courtesy by the royal family.

”No matter, let’s set off.” Lord Xu Chenzi maintained a cold expression, akin to an Exterminator figure.

Yet, when she looked up and saw Gao Zhou, her expression changed momentarily; someone so cold actually seemed startled to see him, clearly, she knew Gao Zhou.

Gao Zhou met her gaze and asked, ”Doesn’t Lord Xu Chenzi think I resemble someone?”

”Not at all, just surprised that you no longer wear a human skin mask.” Lord Xu Chenzi explained, but this explanation seemed uncharacteristic, even Shanhu who came out of her room, glanced at her in surprise.
