Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2630: Chapter 2631: To Be Your Beast of Burden

”Let’s deal with Song Yi first; this person is quite troublesome,” Jiang Yichun said with some emotion.

Bai Ruozhu suddenly slapped her head and got up to leave, ”I remembered something I need to ask Ning Yu.”

Seeing her rush out like a whirlwind, Jiang Yichun had no choice but to follow her.

Bai Ruozhu stormed into Ning Yu’s room, startling Gao Zhou, Tang Feng, and the others nearby. They thought something had happened, but when they arrived, they saw Bai Ruozhu questioning Ning Yu.

”Senior brother, I remember the Astrology Tower has a book that records many strange poisonous insects, with lifelike illustrations. I felt nauseous and didn’t read it at the time. Have you seen it?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Ning Yu nodded, ”I’ve seen it, but many only described the basics without specific cultivation methods.”

Bai Ruozhu became excited, ”Is there a special mother poisonous insect that can place sub-poisonous insects on others, especially pregnant women, and use them to nurture the sub-poisonous insects, then use the sub-poisonous insects to control people? Even if the sub-insect is discovered, it’s hard to trace back to the mother insect. If the sub-insect dies, it won’t harm its master.”

Ning Yu thought carefully for a moment before saying, ”There is indeed such a thing, but it’s a very sinister method. The book records it as the Yin Po Mother Insect because its sub-insects need to be raised with a fetus, and the mother insect can control the sub-insects, thus the name Yin Po.”

”Moreover, these sub-insects only devour fetuses less than three months old. The sub-insect then bursts out from the pregnant woman’s body, creating the illusion of a miscarriage. If unaware of such poisonous insects, the victim might think it was just an unstable fetus causing the miscarriage. Regarding sub-insects controlling people, the book didn’t detail much, saying that the death of the sub-insect doesn’t harm the master of the mother insect, and the sub-insects are quite formidable.”

Bai Ruozhu’s expression turned serious, ”This must be it. Have someone investigate how many women in Kyoto have suddenly and unexpectedly miscarried recently. I have a bad feeling about this. We previously thought the poisonous insects were limited, and Song Yi only controlled important people. But now it seems he can use the mother insect to produce more sub-insects. Even if the sub-insects die, he won’t be harmed, so naturally, he can release many sub-insects. It’s too unscientific.”

Gao Zhou responded, ”The stronger something is, the more limitations it usually has. Song Yi can’t be allowed to be so carefree.”

”It’s a pity we can’t find him. Otherwise, we might discover his weakness,” Ning Yu said.

”He’s like a bug now, hiding underground and refusing to show himself. Everything is done by the people he controls, and even if they get caught, it doesn’t affect him much,” Bai Ruozhu said.

She thought carefully again, He Zi was just under three months pregnant. So why did Song Yi have Chi Song and He Zi capture Fangzi and Yaxi?

They’re not pregnant and can’t nurture poisonous insects. Could it be just to use them to threaten her?

But their rescue was too easy, wasn’t it?

Thinking of this, she looked at Yizi, who had just arrived, and whispered, ”Keep an eye on Yaxi over the next few days. I’m not doubting her, just worried Song Yi might’ve done something we haven’t discovered.”

”Understood, my master. If anything happens, I’ll report to you immediately,” Yizi said.

In the following two days, Kyoto seemed calm on the surface, but everyone knew it was the calm before the storm.

No troubling events occurred. The Emperor was furious when he learned Chi Song’s men had injured numerous Imperial Court officials, but there was little he could do about Chi Song.

Luckily, Chi Song calmed down afterward and didn’t cause trouble for anyone else.

Yaxi’s condition also gradually improved, but Bai Ruozhu and Yizi often stayed with her, worried Song Yi might have done something to her.

On the third day, Sa Tian and Xinye suddenly showed up.

”Lord Bai, I believe Lord Luzhi must be under someone’s control. Please save him,” Xinye said, performing a grand salute as soon as he saw Bai Ruozhu, kneeling on one knee, ”As long as you save Lord Luzhi, I am willing to serve you for the rest of my life, doing whatever you command.”

Before Bai Ruozhu could speak, Jiang Yichun said coldly, ”We don’t need guards, nor do we need someone to serve as an ox or horse. You can go back.”

What a ridiculous request, serving as an ox or horse and following future orders from the master, wouldn’t that mean lingering around his wife?

Did they really think he couldn’t see through Xinye’s little ploy? If he hadn’t been perceptive, how could he have pursued his wife?

Bai Ruozhu also spoke up, ”I can’t save Luzhi; it’s difficult even to approach him, and I don’t need you to serve me. Find someone else to help him.”

Xinye remained kneeling, ”Lord Bai, I don’t trust anyone else. I beg you.”

Sa Tian couldn’t bear it, ”Lord Bai, Lord Luzhi has an upright nature, but he’s been acting very strange recently. Xinye suspects he has been affected by a poisonous insect, and if left unchecked, he might be controlled to do things that could harm you.”

”I face each challenge as it comes. I’m not a saint; I can’t save everyone,” Bai Ruozhu replied indifferently and turned to leave for the hall.

She would help people, but it depended on who they were. Luzhi had never been friendly to her, and given that he was the top samurai of Fusang, what if she failed to remove the poisonous insect, and he turned on her instead?

Ever since Wu Yunfeng had his acupoints sealed, was forced to take her poison and still managed to break free and injure her, she no longer dared to assume acupoint sealing was all-powerful.

Sa Tian also went into the room but hesitated to say much. He didn’t understand why he was so afraid of Lord Bai when he wasn’t a fierce person.

Xinye didn’t follow inside; he stubbornly knelt in the yard with his head down, hoping Bai Ruozhu would change her mind.

Bai Ruozhu calmly drank tea and asked about the information Mo Beishan had found but paid no heed to Xinye in the yard.

After half an hour, Sa Tian got anxious and cautiously said, ”Lord Bai, Xinye’s legs haven’t fully healed. Could kneeling for long leave a health problem?”

Bai Ruozhu replied coolly, ”Being lame would be fine by me; I wouldn’t want a lame person as a guard.”

Sa Tian quickly turned to tell Xinye in the yard, ”Did you hear that? If you’re lame, you can’t be a guard for Lord Bai. You should get up.”

Xinye’s expression changed, but he eventually stood up. His legs were sore and numb from kneeling, and he almost fell when he got up.

He managed to steady himself and walked awkwardly into the hall.

”Lord Bai, please save Lord Luzhi. I’m willing to agree to any condition you set,” Xinye said.

Bai Ruozhu took a sip of tea, ”How can I save him? If he doesn’t want to be saved, I might get hurt in the process, and I’m not willing to take that risk. If you insist on my help, bring him to the posthouse.”

Shouldn’t saving someone mean bringing them to her territory?

Xinye’s face changed a bit, then he said, ”Alright, I’ll find a way to bring Lord Luzhi.”

Bai Ruozhu casually acknowledged, thinking if it were that easy, it wouldn’t hurt to help. It would be a nice treat for Furball.
