Chapter 2613: Chapter 2614: Midnight Shocking Incident (5 Chapters Update)

Bai Ruozhu glanced at Lord Da Gu again, ”Lord Da Gu, please check as well.”

Lord Da Gu seemed a bit nervous, ”Okay, okay.”

Bai Ruozhu then released the Little Furball and said to them, ”Don’t be afraid. It’s a good Poisonous Insect, the kind that protects its owner, not the kind that harms people. It won’t hurt you.”

Of course, saying it won’t hurt people is not true, but the Little Furball won’t hurt without reason. If it does, it’s to protect its master, and the one hurt is the enemy.

”Is this also a Poisonous Insect?” The Emperor was drawn to the Little Furball’s adorable appearance. ”It looks quite cute.”

Upon hearing the compliment, the Little Furball immediately performed a flip in the air and even danced, losing any high and mighty image and acting completely goofy.

The Emperor and others couldn’t help but laugh, even the Second Prince asked, ”Was it this little guy that saved me just now?”

”Yes,” Bai Ruozhu replied.

Exposing the Little Furball was not a concern, but the Golden Body absolutely must not be mentioned.

At that moment, the Little Furball flew toward the Emperor’s forehead, causing him to instinctively dodge.

”Your Majesty, only when it is close to your forehead can we determine if there is a Poisonous Insect inside your body. Otherwise, I would have checked for you previously,” Bai Ruozhu explained.

”Oh, alright, should I lie down?” The Emperor asked.

”No need, just don’t move,” Bai Ruozhu said.

This time, the Emperor didn’t move. Although he was a bit nervous, he chose to trust Bai Ruozhu.

The Little Furball gently approached his forehead and began inspecting him carefully. Soon, it flew back to Bai Ruozhu’s shoulder and started communicating with her.

”There is a Poisonous Insect in His Majesty’s body, but for some reason, it hasn’t hatched yet. It’s currently struggling with you, making you prone to fatigue,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”What!” Lord Da Gu exclaimed, ”Lord Bai, you must save His Majesty.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”Your Majesty, have you felt anything unusual these days?”

The Emperor quickly said, ”My chest feels tight.”

”Father, before my episode, I also felt tightness in my chest!” The Second Prince exclaimed.

”I thought it was due to my anxiety, so I started reciting Buddhist Scriptures and felt a bit better,” the Emperor explained.

Bai Ruozhu instantly understood why he was alright; the Poisonous Insect is an evil thing, while the Buddhist Scriptures are sacred and can restrain it, much like how the Golden Body restrains the Poisonous Insects.

Thankfully, the Emperor’s recitation of the Buddhist Scriptures for the past few days has suppressed the Poisonous Insect. Otherwise, once hatched, he, like the Second Prince, would be controlled, and who knows what he would do.

Bai Ruozhu shared her analysis with the Emperor, who suddenly understood and said, ”I’ll have Buddhist Scriptures sent to the palaces later, encouraging them to read more, which might prevent it somewhat.”

”If someone has already been poisoned, it probably won’t help. They won’t listen to you and might not even glance at the Buddhist Scriptures,” Bai Ruozhu said, ”This method can only be preventive.”

”Then could you perhaps check on others as well?” the Emperor asked.

”It’s too late today, I’ll first find a way to treat Your Majesty,” Bai Ruozhu responded.

”Alright, I appreciate it, Lord Bai.” The Emperor showed even greater respect toward her.

Bai Ruozhu was a bit troubled, the Little Furball had just told her, the Emperor’s situation was different from the Second Prince’s because the Poisonous Insect hadn’t hatched, it couldn’t be forced out by the Golden Body.

It hasn’t hatched yet, how could it escape on its own?

Forcing the Golden Body’s light to kill it would only leave the poisonous insect poison inside the Emperor.

In that case, once hatched, it becomes more convenient.

”Does Lord Bai need to prepare anything?” The Second Prince asked, probing as she hadn’t made a move.

”I’m still thinking of a way,” Bai Ruozhu sighed, ”The treatment method differs from the Second Prince as the Poisonous Insect in His Majesty hasn’t hatched; I need to consider carefully to ensure His Majesty’s safety.”

”Alright, thank you, Lord Bai,” the Second Prince hurriedly said.

Bai Ruozhu pondered for a long time but found no solution. Seeing it was quite late at night, she finally said, ”I’ll go back and arrange some things, come into the palace again tomorrow. If His Majesty shows any abnormal behavior, have people chant Buddhist Scriptures by stomping their feet.”

Lord Da Gu and the Second Prince hurriedly agreed, the Second Prince said he would stay overnight in the Emperor’s Sleeping Palace.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun left the palace, she explained her worries to Jiang Yichun, who was simple and direct, ”Tell him to stop looking at the Buddhist Scriptures and let the Poisonous Insect hatch.”

”What if it hatches and he commits suicide?” Bai Ruozhu glared at him, ”Once controlled by Song Yi, who knows what he might do?”

”If all else fails, directly kill the Poisonous Insect using the Golden Body and slowly resolve the poisonous insect poison yourself,” Jiang Yichun said indignantly, ”Stop worrying about others too much, what if you tire yourself out?”

Bai Ruozhu bitterly smiled, he cared for her but didn’t need to speak so ruthlessly.

At midnight, the Emperor suddenly sat up from bed, startling the Second Prince who had just started to doze off.

”Father, what’s wrong? Do you need water?” He hurriedly asked.

The Emperor didn’t reply; he skillfully jumped off the bed and strode toward a nearby cabinet.

His eyes widened in shock as he shouted, ”Someone, chant the Buddhist Scriptures!”

Four monks immediately rushed in and began chanting the scriptures loudly.

”Shut up, so noisy!” The Emperor roared, like an angry lion.

The Second Prince quickly realized something was wrong and urgently ordered, ”Continue chanting; don’t stop!”

The four monks had been instructed; they dared not think otherwise and desperately continued chanting. Unexpectedly, the Emperor shoved the Second Prince aside; the sheer force was terrifying. When the Second Prince fell, he hit a table, causing the teapot and cups on the table to crash to the ground and break.

Lord Da Gu rushed in with his men, hurriedly supporting the Second Prince, who, having fallen heavily, coughed up blood.

”Quick, restrain the Emperor and send someone to fetch Lord Bai,” the Second Prince managed to say.

Lord Da Gu’s face paled further, not daring to hesitate, promptly giving orders.

Soon after, the Emperor triggered a secret mechanism, opening the treasure cabinet, and darted inside.

”Your Majesty!” Lord Da Gu abandoned the Second Prince and ran over, yet it was too late, the secret passage entrance closed; he slammed into the wall.

”Quickly find the mechanism to reopen the secret passage,” the Second Prince said before coughing heavily and expelling more blood.

During the late night at the posthouse, frantic knocking woke Bai Ruozhu, hearing the Emperor’s abnormal behavior and the Second Prince’s injury, she and Jiang Yichun promptly returned to the palace, but by the time they arrived at the Emperor’s bedchamber, the Secret Passage door remained unopened. Lord Da Gu was sweating profusely, having pressed the same spot countless times and attempted myriad methods to press it, yet the entrance refused to reopen.
