Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 2610: Chapter 2611: Beating the Servant

The astrologer chuckled, ”In any case, she’ll sooner or later be your sister-in-law.”

Diao Bin’s face turned even redder, and quickly said, ”Let’s eat first, everyone’s waiting.”

The group gathered together and had a lively meal, completely ignoring the chaos outside.

Pondering over the fact that the star chart the astrologer found was fake, Song Yi became more vigilant; after all, he wasn’t one of Wu Yunfeng’s people.

After the meal, Teng Ya and Yizi cleaned up the dishes, while Fo Lanying called Bai Ruozhu aside to speak privately.

”What’s up, being all mysterious,” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Fo Lanying lowered her voice and said, ”It’s about that system, remember you told me to be cautious when I brought it up?”

”What’s the matter?” Bai Ruozhu said with a laugh, wondering why the delay.

”I discovered that inside it, there’s medicine that can treat Diao Bin’s white hair. It even states that if the White-Haired Witch eats it, she can turn her hair black. I don’t know who the White-Haired Witch is, but it seems useful for Diao Bin, right?” Fo Lanying said.

Hearing this, Bai Ruozhu was delighted, ”It’s worth a try, this is good news. Why the secrecy?”

Fo Lanying chuckled awkwardly, ”But the points needed are extraordinarily high, even more than for the medicine I need, which already requires a long time of saving. So, I can definitely only buy one at a time.”

”Focus on your own needs first. Your ailment is frequently bothersome, quite torturous. Diao Bin is somewhat accustomed to her white hair, and there’s no rush.” Bai Ruozhu realized her concerns, ”Don’t mention it for now, wait until you’re close to exchanging for it, or else they’ll grow impatient waiting.”

Fo Lanying nodded, ”That’s what I’m thinking too, but I’m afraid you’ll think I’m selfish.”

Bai Ruozhu rolled her eyes at her, ”Thinking like that isn’t wrong, it’s not called selfish. Otherwise, you’d truly be a saint.”

”How can I earn money quickly to accumulate points?” Fo Lanying asked worriedly, scratching her head, ”I’m not at all cut out for business.”

”Let me think for you; the system awards points as long as you have income, regardless of how much money is left on hand, right?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Fo Lanying stayed silent for a while before saying, ”Yes, I just asked it.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”That makes it easier. Money can generate more money.”

If Fo Lanying had to accumulate wealth, it would be challenging; but if she used A to earn B, invested B to earn C, and continued investing, the system would only calculate income for points.

”I’ll follow your lead then, don’t leave me hanging,” Fo Lanying said, taking out a stack of silver banknotes from her bosom, ”These are my saved funds, and Tangfen Restaurant considers me a shareholder; I can’t take dividends without investing.”

Bai Ruozhu thought for a moment and received it without ceremony. Fo Lanying was quite at ease, not showing reluctance.

Investing this money in other businesses would help multiply it for her.

In the afternoon, the astrologer left shortly before someone from the Palace arrived. This time, it wasn’t Da Gu but a servant from the Second Prince’s side.

”Master Bai, the Second Prince wishes to see you, please enter the Palace,” the servant said.

Bai Ruozhu looked at him indifferently, ”I’m entangled in a murder case lately, it’s inconvenient to visit the Palace, let the Second Prince know.”

If he wishes to see her, he should visit; summoning her to the Palace set quite a grand stage.

”The Second Prince says it’s urgent; he’s unwell and can’t leave the Palace, or he would have come personally,” the servant hastily said.

”Precisely because the Second Prince is unwell, it’s inappropriate for me to visit now. If any trouble arises, I can’t bear it,” Bai Ruozhu replied with a hint of sarcasm, unsure whether her mention of ”trouble” referred to Empress Yazi, assassins targeting the Second Prince, or something else.

The servant was somewhat distressed, ”Master Bai, I’m just relaying a message; if you don’t enter the Palace, the Second Prince might punish me. Please have mercy.”

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but roll her eyes, ”When did the Second Prince become so tyrannical? If he punishes you for this, you should report to the Emperor. Well, I sustained an internal injury recently and need rest, take your leave for now.”

Once she finished speaking, the servant wanted to continue pleading but was forced out by Jianqi.

”Master, please appeal to Master Bai for me. I’m not exaggerating; the Second Prince’s temper has been especially bad lately, punishing us servants over minor things. Look, I’ve got marks on my arm,” the servant said to Jianqi, pulling back his sleeve to show bloodstains on his arm, from a rattan stick, with seven or eight marks.

Jianqi frowned slightly, ”Report truthfully upon your return, and if you fear being punished, find the Emperor.”

After speaking, Jianqi turned back to the room and shut the main gate.

It’s not that he wasn’t sympathetic towards the servant; there are many deserving compassion in this world, but if you sympathize with each one, how much time and energy would you have?

Nonetheless, Jianqi reported the situation to Bai Ruozhu, Jiang Yichun overheard and said coldly, ”He’s never been a good person; not going was the right choice.”

He didn’t want his wife to meet the Second Prince.

Bai Ruozhu furrowed her brow, pondering, though the Second Prince was less gentlemanly than the Crown Prince and initially quite disagreeable; from her observations over time, he never mistreated servants, so why the sudden change recently?

”Something feels off; maybe I should find some time to check things out,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Jiang Yichun disagreed, ”It could be a Decoy Strategy.”

”Don’t you find the Imperial Palace incredibly strange? Not investigating leaves me uneasy. While intending not to meddle in the Fusang matter anymore, I don’t wish to be played by Song Yi,” Bai Ruozhu said.

Seeing her resolve, Jiang Yichun sighed, ”Then I’ll accompany you.”

Bai Ruozhu didn’t oppose; he didn’t wish for her to meet the Second Prince alone, and preventing him would only make him sulky for a long time.

By now it was dusk; the two decided to eat dinner before entering the Palace, bringing Jianqi and Yizi along.

Soon, arriving at the Second Prince’s palace, the servant who had fetched them earlier immediately displayed a smile.

”Master Bai, you’ve come, thank you so much,” he said, looking at Bai Ruozhu with genuine gratitude, not feigned.

”Did the Second Prince punish you?” Bai Ruozhu asked casually.

The servant’s expression changed slightly but quickly covered up with forced calm, ”No, no, hurry inside.”

Bai Ruozhu sniffed, detecting a faint smell of blood; the servant was injured, and it wasn’t the marks shown to Jianqi earlier, those were swollen and bruised. But the smell of blood indicated fresh wounds.

This subtle hint of blood meant the wound was recent.
