Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1220: Chapter 1222 Fengshui Treasure Land_1

”Oh, so Elder Jiang Ge has graced us with his presence for a meal with everyone; truly a rare sight.”

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun exchanged glances and immediately perceived each other’s suspicions.

It seems Elder Jiang Ge is targeting them again.

”Yichun, Ruozhu, come sit down quickly. We’ve been waiting just for the two of you,” Jiang Xuexiang greeted them warmly.

Jiang Yichun and Bai Ruozhu stepped forward to pay respects to the elders before taking their seats.

This time, Lady Dou did not spout her usual sarcastic remarks, which Bai Ruozhu found rather unusual, but she soon understood why.

Elder Jiang Ge slammed his cup down on the table with displeasure, saying, ”In just a few days of my absence, the rules in this household are really being neglected. The younger generation makes the elders wait. Never mind the lack of morning and evening greetings, but you can’t even come to dinner on time. You all really carry yourselves with quite the air.”

Jiang Yichun gave him a sharp look and said coolly, ”The emperor kept me in the Imperial Study Room to talk, so I was late coming back. My official duties should take precedence as they concern the matters of the Imperial Court. Ruozhu was dealing with the affairs of the Astrology Tower and only managed to rush back in her spare time. It’s not as if we were idly sleeping in at home and not coming over on time, is it?”

These words turned Elder Jiang Ge’s face various shades of blue and white. After all, wasn’t he the one resting at home, sleeping comfortably?

Of course, there were others who felt very displeased upon hearing this, such as Dou Ning and his wife, who were well-known idlers within the residence. Jiang Xuebin was somewhat better, being in charge of some of the residence’s affairs.

”I speak one word and you talk back; are there no rules in this house anymore?” Elder Jiang Ge raised his voice.

”Grandpa, don’t get agitated so easily. It’s not easy for your health to have recently improved a bit. You shouldn’t always be at odds with yourself,” Bai Ruozhu reminded him indifferently.

Elder Jiang Ge’s gaze suddenly fell on Bai Ruozhu, ”Don’t change the subject; tell me actually if you were the disciple the National Master truly wanted to take on his deathbed? Or have you played some sort of trick again? You women are the most cunning.”

Bai Ruozhu struggled to suppress the urge to roll her eyes. Elder Jiang Ge seemed to think too highly of her capabilities.

”It is indeed true. Who would dare to falsely transmit the National Master’s final words? Are they not afraid of divine punishment?” Bai Ruozhu deliberately spoke in a mysterious tone, ”The National Master was no ordinary person. It’s said that he ascended to immortality upon his death. If I dared concoct a story about this, would he let me off?”

Elder Jiang Ge snorted, his tone suggesting that he didn’t quite believe Bai Ruozhu.

”Since you claim it’s true, then find me a plot of feng shui treasure land for a burial site. As a disciple of the National Master, you wouldn’t be ignorant of even this bit of Feng Shui Art, would you?” Elder Jiang Ge challenged.

”I really don’t know, Grandpa. Aren’t you putting me in a difficult position? Everyone knows that the National Master met me for the first time right before his death and then said he wanted to take me as his disciple, but I haven’t even started learning any real skills. Besides, the art of Feng Shui cannot be learned in a day or two. I can’t manage what you’re asking,” Bai Ruozhu said, her heart cold with laughter. She wasn’t sure if Elder Jiang Ge wanted to trouble her with this task or genuinely wanted to find a good piece of land for burial. This sudden demand took her by surprise.

”Just as I thought, nothing but a hollow straw effigy!” Elder Jiang Ge muttered discontentedly.

Jiang Yichun wouldn’t stand for such words. He cast a sidelong glance at Elder Jiang Ge and said, ”Can a straw effigy cure your illness? You might not put others in your eyes, but don’t offend the entire Imperial Medical Bureau with a single comment.”

All the Imperial Doctors at the Imperial Medical Bureau praise Bai Ruozhu’s medical skills, which I was just mentioning. One hiccup, an unpleasant glare shot towards Jiang Yichun, and they said, ”Her medical skills are good, but with her knowing nothing else, she doesn’t deserve to be the disciple of the National Master, so as not to tarnish his prestigious name.”

”Who the National Master chooses to take as a disciple is his own decision. What kind of person is the National Master? He naturally has his reasons, and it’s not your place to question him!” Jiang Yichun retorted unceremoniously.

For a moment, the atmosphere inside the room became tense as both got ready to lash out at each other.

Jiang Xuexiang coughed a couple of times and said in a low voice, ”Dad, you are still in good health, there’s no need to rush the selection of your burial site.”

”I will be at ease once it’s settled. I thought someone capable had emerged from our family, but it turns out to be nothing more than an embroidered pillow,” Elder Jiang Ge said even more rudely.

Bai Ruozhu gave Jiang Yichun a look, asking why bother with him. This man is like a rabid dog, the more you pay attention to him, the more energized he becomes.

At that moment, Madam Dou, who was sitting not far from Bai Ruozhu, suddenly said with a laugh, ”Since the elder is worried about this, Ruozhu, as the younger generation, should also offer your help to the elder. You may not know Feng Shui, but surely your senior brother does, right? Aren’t you in good terms with him? Ask him to help take a look.”

With a snap, the chopsticks in Jiang Yichun’s hand broke cleanly. He had simply applied pressure with his fingers to break them, showing how strong his grip was.

Anger had already built up in Jiang Yichun’s eyes. Did Madam Dou think her words would be lost on him? As if his wife could be humiliated by them!

At this thought, Jiang Yichun suddenly flicked his hand, and the half-stick of the chopstick flew out, thunking into the table right beside Madam Dou’s hand, barely grazing the skin of her hand.

Madam Dou screamed in fright, and upon closer examination, saw that the half piece of chopstick had deeply embedded itself into the table. Had it hit her hand, wouldn’t it have pierced right through?

Thinking this, Madam Dou felt a chill down her spine, but she quickly regained her composure and yelled, ”Yichun, what are you doing? I am still your aunt by marriage, do you want to kill me?”

”I was merely killing a noisy mosquito,” Jiang Yichun said indifferently. ”If my aunt doesn’t believe me, just take a look for yourself.”

Madam Dou, not convinced, reached out to pull out the chopstick. She didn’t believe there was actually a mosquito - where would a mosquito come from in the dead of winter?

Unfortunately, even with all her might, Madam Dou couldn’t pull the chopstick out. Everyone was frightened by Jiang Yichun’s stern face and dared not assist her.

Dou Ning, at the men’s table, naturally felt too embarrassed to rush over and help his wife. Instead, it was their elder son, Dou Xingde, who came over to help, but he was equally unsuccessful.

Bai Ruozhu watched with a stifled laugh, giving Jiang Yichun an appreciative look with her bright, shining eyes. This move was just beautiful.

Elder Jiang Ge, seeing Dou Xingde turning red with effort, was livid with anger, and said to Bai Ruozhu, ”Since you aren’t capable, find Ning Yu to have a look for me.”

Bai Ruozhu inwardly scoffed but kept a neutral expression and said, ”A person who has achieved Dao has many rules and their own pride. Whether Ning Yu is willing to help is his own affair; I, being a latecomer to the discipleship, really can’t say much. If Grandpa is truly in a hurry, why not ask the Virtuous King to request an imperial decree on your behalf? With an order from the emperor, Ning Yu naturally won’t refuse.” She said with a snicker, ”After all, it isn’t the first time Grandpa has troubled the Virtuous King.”
