Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1203: Chapter 1205 Clue: Wang_1

Wang Shun happened to know about this matter, as the Eight Academy Competition was tainted with examination fraud, the Emperor was extremely angry. In the Imperial Study Room, he called in several officials for questioning one after another, and even dealt with a good number of people, allowing Wang Shun to know the details very clearly.

Therefore, at that time, Wang Shun had a great admiration for the female scholar Bai Ruozhu. So later on when Bai Ruozhu entered the palace and encountered Wang Shun, he was always very polite and took good care of her, only he himself never mentioned it.

Wang Shun spoke in detail, and Elder Jiang Ge wore a dissatisfied look, having no shortage of glares for Wang Shun, feeling that Wang Shun had been bought over by Bai Ruozhu.

”Humph, as they say, ’a beauty brings trouble.’ If it weren’t for her, that stinking boy wouldn’t have used military forces on his own, which is a clear violation of military regulations,” said Elder Jiang Ge, still abiding by his own strictures in speaking.

Wang Shun said with a smile, ”I personally feel that what Lord Jiang did was not wrong. It’s true that Lady Jiang is Lord Jiang’s wife, but she is also a member of the Beiyu Academy’s delegation. Lord Jiang is responsible for escorting and protecting the Beiyu Academy delegation. Logically, he should not allow members of the Beiyu Academy to be slandered and the Beiyu Academy to be shamed, right?”

”In the end, it’s her fault for not abiding by the women’s code and creating rumors by treating a man outside the family,” Elder Jiang Ge continued to pick faults.

Wang Shun sighed and said, ”Elder Jiang Ge, have you forgotten how crucial it was that Tu Bai was saved? At that time, it was Virtuous King’s scheme to force Tu Lie to join him, in the matter of Virtuous King’s rebellion. Lady Jiang also made a merit then.”

Elder Jiang Ge wanted to say more, but they had already reached the Palace Gate. Although Wang Shun cursed Elder Jiang Ge in his heart as an obstinate old man, he still greeted them with a cheerful smile, saying, ”My Lord, Elder Jiang Ge, please take care. I will take my leave here.”

The Virtuous King waved his hand to indicate that Wang Shun could go back, while Elder Jiang Ge gave a cold huff, clearly including Wang Shun in his displeasure.

Once both of them got on the horse carriage and left the Palace, Elder Jiang Ge snorted again through his nose and said, ”I don’t know what benefits the Bai Family has given Wang Shun that he’s even speaking up for her.”

The Virtuous King frowned slightly and said, ”Wang Shun once served the Former Emperor and is now with the Emperor. I know his character well; he definitely wouldn’t fabricate praise for the Bai Family. It seems that the Bai Family truly has a talented woman.”

Elder Jiang Ge scoffed and said, ”What talented woman? What kind of talented woman can come from an Agricultural Family?”

”That is where you err. In Danliang Country, there are many Agricultural and Scholarly Families. Even our nation’s founding Emperor came from a farm. A teacher should not look down upon farmers,” the Virtuous King said with a hint of displeasure in his voice.

Elder Jiang Ge was at a loss for words from the rebuke, but he still didn’t believe that a girl like Bai Ruozhu from an Agricultural Family had any real abilities. It was all just Jiang Yichun creating momentum for her. He didn’t know what kind of love potions she had given that brat.

Seeing that Elder Jiang Ge was still disgruntled, the Virtuous King knew in his heart that he hadn’t really listened. The Virtuous King sighed inwardly at that moment, his teacher was indeed upright and honest, but had become somewhat overly stubborn with age.

...

Not long after Bai Ruozhu and her husband returned home, a dark guard came to the Bai Family to report that Chu Hai had woken up.

”Good, let’s go over and check on him quickly,” said Bai Ruozhu, eager to go.

Jiang Yichun’s face grew longer by several degrees. In his view, his wife’s concern for Chu Hai was a bit too much. But as she was currently worried about Diao Yao, he didn’t have the heart to say more. He would have to remind her sternly later that she must not get nervous for another man again.

Both of them rode quickly to the Bai Residence. Upon entering, they headed straight for the yard where Chu Hai was staying. Lin Ping’er and Bai Yihong were already guarding there, but both still had faces full of worry.

”Ruozhu, Chu Hai has fainted again. You should check on him quickly to see if it’s serious, whether there could be a risk to his life,” said Lin Ping’er anxiously.

Bai Ruozhu’s heart skipped a beat. He had fainted again? Wasn’t that after he woke up?

She hurried into the room, grasped Chu Hai’s thin wrist to take his pulse, and after a long moment, she let go and said, ”Thankfully, the situation hasn’t worsened, but he needs time to recover.”

”Daughter, just after Chu Hai woke up, he told the maid serving him that Diao Yao had been captured, and mentioned something about ’Wang.’” Bai Yihong spoke from the side.

Bai Ruozhu almost slapped her own head, feeling agitated, how could she forget that even if she hadn’t come, Chu Hai could have still spoken a few words to those present.

The maid nearby hurriedly stepped forward to bow and said respectfully, ”Master Chu Hai told me to find you to save Diao Yao, he said someone called Wang had captured her; ’Wang’ was all I heard clearly, then Master Chu Hai passed out again before he could say anything else, no matter how I asked.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded and gave the maid a reward, ”Pay close attention to him, and if he wakes up and says anything, be sure to note it down.”

”Yes, I will remember,” the maid hurriedly bowed.

After leaving Chu Hai’s room, Bai Ruozhu turned to Jiang Yichun and asked, ”Are there many prominent families with the surname Wang in the capital? And are there any consorts with that surname in the palace?”

Jiang Yichun frowned deeply, ”Wang is a common surname, there are indeed quite a few; I’ll send someone to investigate each one. As for the palace, I’m not very familiar with it, I’ll get back to you with information later.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”Arrange for your subordinates to handle it, you’re still wounded.”

”Alright,” Jiang Yichun’s eyes and brows softened again with a smile, after all, his wife cared about him the most.

At dinner, Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun went back to the Jiang family. At the dinner table, Dou Yun’s mother began to mock and scorn once again, Bai Ruozhu was already irritated and simply put down her chopsticks to say, ”I’m going to see how Grandpa is.”

After saying that, she walked out, and Jiang Yichun also stood up and followed her without bothering to offer any explanation.

Dou Yun’s mother was so angry that her face reddened as she said, ”I am still their elder, after all. Is this any way to treat an elder? Can’t an elder even reprimand them a little?”

Dou Yun hurriedly tugged at her mother’s sleeve, looking afraid of causing trouble, while on the other side, Dou Xingde remarked indifferently, ”Why is big brother always following his wife? Shouldn’t the man be in charge at home?”

Dou Yun’s mother sneered, ”What’s so hard to understand about that? Hasn’t your big brother said himself that he married into her family?”

”Enough!” Jiang Xuexiang couldn’t bear it any longer, his face stern as he said, ”When a family gathers, let’s be harmonious. Yichun has his own duties to attend to, and Ruozhu has business to handle; from now on, whatever they do when they go out, don’t ask too many questions. These kids haven’t had it easy these past years, we elders haven’t helped them one bit, so what right do we have to scold them now?”

”Big brother, that’s not right to say. It’s understandable that Yichun has duties, but Ruozhu is a woman and should stay at home to support her husband and instruct her children. Is it really appropriate for her to always be running back to her mother’s house?” Dou Yun’s mother said without concern.

Dou Ning gave her a sharp look, signaling her not to talk too much, and it was then that she begrudgingly continued her meal.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun went to check on Elder Jiang Ge, then returned to their own courtyard. That night, someone from the Bai Residence came knocking on the Jiang Family’s main gate...

(The following content is free of charge) Yesterday at noon, the teacher from Mouka’s son’s kindergarten suddenly called to say he was suspected of having hand, foot, and mouth disease and asked me to take him home to the hospital for a check-up. Mouka was shocked, there were no children with hand, foot, and mouth disease around here, right? It has been cold these days, and we didn’t go anywhere else after school. It was only then that the teacher mentioned that two other children in the class had come down with hand, foot, and mouth disease. I asked why she hadn’t informed us parents? She even told me it wasn’t a big issue and that it would heal on its own. But even if it’s not a major issue, it shouldn’t be hidden. Later, it was confirmed at the hospital that he had been infected with hand, foot, and mouth disease. I alerted the mothers I’d been playing with our children together, advising them to be observant. Not long after, the teacher called, her tone blaming me for telling others, implying that I was creating panic. Three babies in the class simultaneously having hand, foot, and mouth disease should be a sign to take action, whether it means halting classes or disinfecting. Are we not even allowed to talk about it? I initially had a good impression of this private kindergarten, but now it’s diminished. Even if this contagious disease can be cured quickly, who wouldn’t want to avoid it if possible? The babies suffer from painful blisters in their mouths due to hand, foot, and mouth disease. Knowing the risk, why not avoid it and spare the children the pain?

I’ll have to take care of the child for the next half a month. I’ll do my best with updates. Sigh.
