Chapter 1210: Chapter 1212 Let’s Make Everything Clear_1

Bai Ruozhu felt that the most urgent task was to find Chu Hai to clarify things, and then ask him what his plans were, as Diao Yao’s situation had become even more dangerous.

At that moment, a court lady by her side exclaimed, ”Princess? The princess has awakened!”

The Emperor and the Empress Dowager rushed to see Princess Diao Bin, and Bai Ruozhu hurriedly followed.

Indeed, Princess Diao Bin had regained consciousness, and although she appeared nearly as old as the Empress Dowager, her mind was clear.

”Diao Bin, do you feel better?” the Empress Dowager rushed over and grabbed her hand.

When Diao Bin’s hand was lifted, she looked down at the dry skin and the wrinkles that had formed, and her eyes immediately reddened.

”How have I become like this?” Diao Bin, after all, was a young girl. In a panic, she said to the court lady next to her, ”Bring me a mirror quickly, bring me a mirror!”

The Empress Dowager burst into tears and, gripping Diao Bin’s hand, said, ”Don’t look. Your royal brother will cure you, he has already found the National Master, and there is a way.”

The Emperor also hastily approached and said, ”As long as the curse that’s upon you is lifted, you will return to your original appearance. Everything will get better. You must believe in your royal brother.”

Princess Diao Bin’s emotions stabilized somewhat. She withdrew her hand that had reached out for the mirror and nodded, ”I’ve worried mother and the royal brother. I’m not afraid; I believe in the royal brother.”

A look of determination flashed in the Emperor’s eyes. He knew that Diao Bin trusted him the most, and he would definitely find a way to cure her.

Bai Ruozhu stood at the back and didn’t rashly come forward. Right now, her mind was in turmoil. Did the Emperor really consider her the key to solving the problem? And how would the situation between Chu Hai and Diao Yao be resolved?

”Diao Bin, the National Master said that as long as we find the person who cast the curse and they lift it, there will be no problem. He also predicted that the Bai Family is the key, capable of helping you find the one who cast the curse,” the Emperor consoled Princess Diao Bin in a soft voice, devoid of his previous gloomy demeanor.

Diao Bin turned to look at Bai Ruozhu, her mouth twitched into a smile, and she said, ”I knew you were my benefactor, and I believe in you too.”

Bai Ruozhu felt as if a great mountain was pressing down on her shoulders. Sometimes being trusted by others can also be a tremendous pressure.

Princess Diao Bin spoke a while, but then she seemed a bit weary, and everyone withdrew, leaving only the Empress Dowager, who was worried, to accompany her in the room.

”Your Majesty, please allow your servant to leave the palace. I have some acquaintances in the Commerce Association; perhaps they will have some clues,” Bai Ruozhu made an excuse.

A look of disdain flashed in the Emperor’s eyes. If he couldn’t find what he was looking for, could the Commerce Association?

Nevertheless, since the National Master had determined she was the key, perhaps she would have an unusual opportunity. Thinking this, the Emperor nodded and said, ”You may go. I will arrange for Lü and the others to follow your orders.”

”Thank you, Your Majesty.” Bai Ruozhu thanked him, but her heart was terribly heavy. With Lü and the others tagging along, she would have to be even more careful.

Bai Ruozhu left the Imperial Palace and went directly to the Commerce Association before returning to the Bai Residence. Jiang Yichun had already been waiting for her at the Bai Residence for half the day. Although the news of Princess Diao Bin’s illness was sealed, Jiang Yichun still found a way to know.

”Achun, I will talk to you in detail later, I need to see Chu Hai first,” Bai Ruozhu said anxiously. She didn’t know when the Emperor and the Empress Dowager would summon her to the palace again, and she feared missing the opportunity to communicate with Chu Hai.

Jiang Yichun’s eyebrows were deeply furrowed as he looked at her and said, ”I won’t stop you from getting involved, but don’t get in over your head.”

Bai Ruozhu shook her head helplessly, ”Did you know? Today at the Astrology Tower, the National Master suddenly said I am a person with ascending purple Qi. He calculated that I am the one who can unravel Princess Diao Bin’s curse; now I can’t even withdraw if I wanted to.”

”What exactly did the National Master calculate?” Jiang Yichun asked.

”I don’t know; I always feel he is unfathomable,” Bai Ruozhu said as she walked towards Chu Hai’s yard.

This time she did not send anyone to announce her arrival but went straight into Chu Hai’s room. Chu Hai’s internal injuries had improved slightly, and he was no longer unconscious most of the time.

But just then, the sleeping Chu Hai was suddenly awakened by Bai Ruozhu. He was a bit grumpy upon waking but seeing Bai Ruozhu’s furious appearance, his face soured even more.

”Fifteen years ago, the Former Emperor and the Empress Dowager were both cursed. The curse was cast by someone at the level of a Witch King or a Holy Maiden. Now the curse has transferred to Princess Diao Bin, and the matter has been dug up again. You don’t have to hide any longer, it was your mother who cast it, wasn’t it?” Bai Ruozhu got straight to the point.

Chu Hai’s gaze flickered. He didn’t want to admit it, but Bai Ruozhu was so certain and knew so much in detail... could it be...

”Alright, your denial is useless. The National Master has already said so, and he even told the Emperor that I am the one to solve the curse. Diao Yao is now confined in the palace. Do you know what the person behind the scenes wants to do? Diao Yao will soon be found by the Empress Dowager. With these matters surfacing, how do you think Diao Yao will be treated?” Bai Ruozhu glared at him as she spoke.

Jiang Yichun, just outside the room, heard every word Bai Ruozhu said clearly, and his worry deepened. This affair really did involve Ruozhu.

”I...” Chu Hai opened his mouth but found his throat dry, ”If the matter is exposed, I will come forward and explain everything. Diao Yao knows nothing, and I will not implicate you or the Bai Residence.”

”Nonsense!” Bai Ruozhu shouted. ”You have been staying in the Bai Residence these days; I saved you when you were seriously injured. Do you think I can avoid being involved? Your mother cursing the Former Emperor and the Empress Dowager is a grave crime warranting the execution of nine generations of kin. Do you think just you taking responsibility is going to keep Diao Yao out of trouble?”

Chu Hai wilted under Bai Ruozhu’s shouting, clutching his head in agony, ”I didn’t want this... We should never have stayed in the Capital City. It was my greed; I thought we could find the poisoner and obtain an antidote for my mother, but I didn’t expect this would endanger Xiaoyao.”

Bai Ruozhu slapped him on the head, saying irritably, ”Don’t give me this do-or-die attitude. At this point, tell me everything you know so I can figure out how to help you. Even if you’re ready to die, don’t drag Diao Yao down with you!”

Stunned by the slap, Chu Hai snapped out of it and hesitated no longer as he began to speak.

”You already know about Diao Yao’s background. Just when Diao Yao was born for a little over five months, the Former Emperor of Danliang Country learned somehow that Diao Yao was his flesh and blood. He wanted to send people to bring Diao Yao back to Danliang Country, which my mother naturally refused. What good life could Diao Yao have there? Her birth could never be mentioned. But it was at that moment that my mother was suddenly poisoned.”

Chu Hai’s features twisted with pain, ”My mother was a Holy Maiden of the Holy Hall, and she had some abilities, but she could only temporarily resist the Reincarnation Poison, unable to cure it. Our home was suddenly raided, my father died a violent death, and my mother fought to save only me and Diao Yao.”
