Rebirth: General, Don't Mess Around!

Lieutenant Colonel Xia had never been afraid of threats. He replied with a faint smile, ”You can replace me if you want. It depends on whether I’ll let you. Also, do you really want my soldiers to go over?”

Major General Yang choked on his saliva.

If he continued to face Lieutenant Colonel Xia, Major General Yang deeply suspected that he would live a few years less!

In the past two months, Lieutenant Colonel Xia’s personality was sometimes thunderous and sometimes stormy. He had made the entire brigade of soldiers afraid. Today, he suddenly changed. During lunch, he even smiled. The special forces soldiers sitting around him were so frightened that they buried their heads in their food.

Damn it! Did the demon-like captain come up with some brutal training again?

They had to hurry up and eat their fill. They had to conserve their energy and prepare to receive the attack at any time!

However, this time, the special forces soldiers in the unit were bound to be disappointed. The captain, whom they respected and feared, carried a camouflage bag and a backpack at 5:00 am the next day. He was dressed casually and appeared to his comrades as if he was going on a holiday.

The hinterland in the deepest part of the northwest was also an important place in the country. Even satellites couldn’t detect it. The signal in the sky was completely blocked. In a base in the restricted area for all civil aviation aircraft, a camouflaged Jeep drove out from the khaki hills and headed toward Dun City.

The orderly who was driving waited for the chief engineer in the back seat to change into casual clothes before smiling. ”Chief, don’t be anxious. It’s a seven-hour drive from our base to Dun City. It’s only 5:30 am now. I promise to send you to the train station on time.”

The chief engineer, Mr. Fu, wiped the sweat off his forehead as he hurriedly changed his clothes. He couldn’t help but smile at the orderly happily. ”I’m in a hurry to fetch my daughter. That’s why I’m a little anxious.

”There’s no hurry. Let’s drive steadily. My daughter won’t reach Dun City until four in the afternoon. Seven hours is enough.”

The orderly could tell how happy Engineer Fu was just by listening to his voice. His smile deepened. ”This is the first time you’re picking up your family.”

”Yes, it’s my first time picking up my daughter,” Mr. Fu emphasized his daughter.

After wiping his sweat, the camouflage uniform with military ranks on his epaulet was neatly folded. Mr. Fu smiled until there were crow’s feet at the corners of his eyes. ”I haven’t seen her for hundreds of days. Now, she’s also assigned to our northwest. I can finally take the opportunity to meet her.”

’Hundreds of days’ was the term used in the base. Even if they hadn’t return home for ten years, they would still say ’hundreds of days’.

The soldiers in the base knew that all the engineers in the base had not returned home for a few years. It was normal for them not to see their families. For soldiers like them, the military unit would specially give them half a month of leave to visit their families every two years.

Sometimes, when they thought about it, their hearts ached for the engineers’ families.

Ye Jian, who had already entered the northwest region, didn’t expect to be pleasantly surprised. There wasn’t just one surprise but two.

Of course, the two surprises were for Ye Jian.

They would come as a shock to Xia Jinyuan.

To Mr. Fu… the sudden appearance of another person was really annoying!

Commander Xia knew that Xia Jinyuan had been invited to be an instructor too. He sat in the office and brewed a pot of tea to calm himself down.

”Yuan and Little Ye did suffer a little this time. Coincidentally, there’s a shortage of people over there. I thought that I might as well find another way to compensate them.

”The two of them will go to the same place. One will train the female soldiers while the other will train the male soldiers. They can take care of each other in work and life. Also, with Yuan around, Little Ye will be able to learn faster and she’ll be quicker to yield results. It’s like killing two birds with one stone.”
