Three Towers Game

Chapter 43: Chapter 36: Forming a Team

The person who answered the phone was Liu Jinsen. Under the effect of the Level 6 item ”Mysterious President Call,” the scenes around Liu Jinsen also appeared in the projection.

Liu Jinsen was the same as ever, his expression cold and meticulous.

Next to him, Sha Ruijing, just like last time, had a smile on his face, a bit flattering and sycophantic.

”Wen Xishu, I’m here to tell you to log into the Deceit Tower before 4 PM today.”

Liu Jinsen wasted no words.

Wen Xishu said:

”How can I redeem my sins? I have already, as you said, exceeded the task of exploring the Deceit Tower.”

”By rights, I should have balanced my merits and faults, right? I have also saved countless lives. Now, the Bunker Security Bureau not only refuses to commend me but also wants to risk my life?”

Liu Jinsen showed a hint of guilt, which surprised Wen Xishu somewhat.

”I’m sorry, I underestimated the higher-ups’ desire for you... or rather, for the secret you hold.”

”Currently, apart from Bureau Two and Bureau Six, the other four bureaus, including all five bureaus of the Civil Affairs Bureau, want to interrogate you and capture you.”

”With the intervention of the elderly headmaster and the efforts of the heads of Bureau Two and Bureau Six, you are currently temporarily safe.”

”You can study at the Three Towers Academy, or move around in the Bunker like a free person.”

”At the moment, no department is allowed to apply for your arrest warrant, nor do they have the authority to capture you.”

”All of this is due to your contributions to the lower tier. Sha Ruijing has also put in a lot of effort here, and the name ’Wen Xishu’ is now extremely sacred in the lower tiers.”

Liu Jinsen said this and looked at Sha Ruijing.

Wen Xishu didn’t expect Sha Ruijing could pull off something this big.

Although he didn’t know how famous he was in the lower tiers, or how Sha Ruijing managed it...

But since Liu Jinsen especially mentioned it, and this call specifically included Sha Ruijing, it was probably to let him know that Sha Ruijing was indispensable in this matter.

Wen Xishu said:

”Thank Sha Ruijing for me... oh no, Comrade Sha Ruijing. I will repay him when the opportunity arises.”

Sha Ruijing also seemed to know that Wen Xishu on the other end could see them. He waved at Wen Xishu with a bright smile.

Wen Xishu returned to the main topic:

”However, I guess whatever I did or Sha Ruijing did, it’s still not enough, right?”

Liu Jinsen nodded:

”Sorry... It’s indeed not enough.”

”What’s involved here is very complex, Wen Xishu. I can only tell you that you are now a pawn in a game of multiple forces.”

Nobody would be happy to be called a pawn. But Wen Xishu was not angry.

”Alright, Mr. Liu, tell me, what else do I need to do?”

Liu Jinsen said:

”Get stronger.”

Wen Xishu was stunned at first, then he understood. This was indeed a high-EQ remark.

Liu Jinsen continued:

”You need to keep getting stronger, but you should know the way to get stronger.”

”The Bunker Security Bureau hopes that you can periodically explore the Deceit Tower. The exact time interval is seven days.”

”Each time after exploring the Deceit Tower, you have seven days for rest and adjustment. After seven days, you will explore the Deceit Tower again.”

”Wen Xishu, I personally despise Wen Chaohua. His crimes are too numerous to write down. But I don’t dislike you. Especially since you recently saved countless lives in the lower tier.”

”If possible, I would be willing to use my career to protect you, but my words carry little weight, and I can’t do that.”

”Even if I risk everything, I can’t change the decision of the upper echelons.”

”Seven days after seven days, it is foreseeable that you will continuously fall into danger.”

”But I believe, judging by your first performance, you are definitely not an ordinary person. Maybe in the future, just in terms of tower climbing achievements... you will surpass Wen Chaohua.”

”I think, at that time, some decisions of the Security Bureau will become more cautious.”

”I hope you can become a legend of the Bunker.”

At this point, Wen Xishu glanced at the old carefree-looking Albert sipping red wine behind him.

Wen Xishu was silent for a moment, then said:

”Can you tell me what exactly Wen Chaohua did?”

Although Albert refused to answer Wen Xishu’s question not long ago, now that Wen Xishu was asking Liu Jinsen, Albert did not stop him.

The old headmaster still looked as carefree as ever.

Liu Jinsen was also silent for a moment, then said:

”Countless people... tower climbers in the Bunker, including many on the Celestial Ladder List, died because of him. He also caused nearly irreversible damage in the exploration of the Three Towers.”

”I promised the old headmaster that I couldn’t tell you more.”

Wen Xishu glanced at Albert, who smiled and waved at him.

Wen Xishu resignedly said:

”Alright, I understand. Do you have anything to add about the tower climbing this afternoon?”

Liu Jinsen hummed in agreement:

”Yes. Since you have already been to the Three Towers once, this time, after you activate the login device... you will head to the Rest Area.”

”The function of the Rest Area is...”

Wen Xishu interrupted:

”I understand the function of the Rest Area. It’s a place for trading information, preparing, and team forming.”

Liu Jinsen said:

”Alright, what I want to say is that there will be quite a few people in the Deceit Tower’s rest area this time.”

”Most of them are death row inmates or exiles. Some... well, some ’own people’ too.”

”You should know that people with the same level and task can team up in the Rest Area.”

Wen Xishu chuckled softly, roughly guessing what was going on.

Liu Jinsen said:

”If you don’t meet the teaming criteria, that’s fine. If you do... the upper echelon hopes you accept the team request.”

Wen Xishu curiously asked:

”What if I meet the criteria, but I refuse to team up... will the upper echelon know? They are not in the Rest Area.”

Liu Jinsen’s tone became serious:

”Yes, they will. There are many special items in this world, like the phone you’re using now, which belongs to the old headmaster.”

”There are also some items that can deconstruct part of the login device’s data, and... I’ve heard that in the highest function layer of the Bunker, there are rooms capable of seeing various indicators.”

”So, do not choose to defy. Wen Xishu, I know you would be reluctant, but I’m not advising you from the Security Bureau’s standpoint. Until you’re strong enough, it’s best to first adapt to the environment.”

Wen Xishu understood.

Exploring the Three Towers, to which level and area one would go, was unknown.

In the Desire Tower and Deceit Tower, one had to be in the same area with the same task to team up.

In other words, if he was the only one assigned a particular task at a certain time, he couldn’t team up with anyone.

Even if he could team up, team members might not necessarily be ”observers” arranged by the higher-ups.

But it’s always possible.

As long as the higher-ups arrange enough people, and as long as he explores the Deceit Tower enough times...

There will always be a time when he might team up with those arranged by the higher-ups.

Once teamed up, and becoming teammates, his exploration of the Deceit Tower might be recorded.

The higher-ups were determined to get the secret about Wen Chaohua.

Even if it was just a small chance, they were willing to arrange many exiles, death row inmates... even death squads to gamble.

Wen Xishu now increasingly believed that Wen Chaohua had something that the higher-ups desperately desired.

Wen Xishu said:

”If I happen to be able to team up, but I kill all my teammates in the Deceit Tower, what happens?”

This question was blunt and straightforward. The nonchalant attitude when he mentioned killing his teammates even shocked Liu Jinsen.

Liu Jinsen suddenly had the thought that perhaps both Wen brothers had demons inside them.

Albert also squinted his eyes slightly, gauging Wen Xishu.

Liu Jinsen still answered truthfully:

”Please don’t do that. Most people exploring the Deceit Tower are criminals, but there are also a few who chose to take desperate chances to change their fate. Just like you.”

”Some are innocent. Even criminals, from the moment they choose to enter the Deceit Tower, are atoning for their sins.”

”You can’t know whether those who team up with you came for you or for their freedom and wealth.”

”If it’s the latter, then they should die at the hands of the monsters in the Deceit Tower, not at the hands of their own kind.”

Wen Xishu did not refute this statement.

In fact, when Liu Jinsen said, ”please don’t do that,” his question already had an answer.

Wen Xishu definitely knew that some people shouldn’t die, but if in an environment where if they don’t die, he would, he knew he would have no mercy.

”Alright, Mr. Liu, I am a person without any violent tendencies. I won’t do that kind of thing. I haven’t used violence in the Deceit Tower.”

At least the latter half of the sentence was true. He indeed hadn’t used violence in the Deceit Tower.

He had only used it in the Desire Tower.
