Three Towers Game

Chapter 21: Chapter 15 A Minor Incident in Slaughter Tower

Slaughter Tower, twenty-first floor.

Most people from Desire Tower usually linger below the top twenty floors. Once they go beyond the twentieth floor, it becomes difficult to satisfy certain targets.

But Slaughter Tower is different.

The exploration of Deceit Tower has only just begun, and people have little understanding of it. But explorations of Slaughter Tower have been going on for years.

There is no such thing as safety in Slaughter Tower; every floor holds the risk of death.

Because of the monsters.

These monsters aren’t entirely impossible to communicate with, but their hatred for humans is extremely strong.

They almost refuse all contact, killing on sight, attacking as soon as they appear.

The twenty-first floor of Slaughter Tower is already regarded as a deadly high ground by everyone.

Besides the teachers and students of the Slaughter Tower Academy, scarcely any Bunker Wanderers would come to such a high level.

”Damn it... I’m seventy tasks short of the target. But if I don’t find a place to light a bonfire and lower my Slaughter Value, I will turn into a monster.”

The tall, blood-covered second-year senior from Slaughter Tower Academy said.

His name is Zhang Wei, one of the prominent figures in the second year at Slaughter Tower Academy. Not long ago, on the seventeenth floor of Slaughter Tower, he obtained the powerful Slaughter Sequence 244 · Armed Bone.

At the same time, he also had Slaughter Sequence 303 · Butchering Will which he rented from a teacher.

Equipped with two full sequence slots, he thought he could show off to the freshmen, and so he recklessly ventured to the twenty-first floor.

With the intention of leading the juniors to successfully clear the twenty-first floor, returning to Slaughter Tower Academy would surely be very glamorous.

The ideal was grand, but reality was harsh.

In Mo’en City within Slaughter Tower, mutant creatures were everywhere.

This prominent second-year student had been killing for a full four hours here...

And all he’d been killing were one type of monster, rats.

It was said that someone once saw an area on the twenty-first floor of Desire Tower covered with warning signs saying ”Beware of Rats.”

But that was in Desire Tower, and people in Slaughter Tower did not care.

But these rats in Slaughter Tower were far more terrifying than the elite monsters below the tenth floor.

Zhang Wei had a solid foundation, constantly fending off the rats’ attacks. But he could only fend them off.

”S-senior, are we going to die here?” a new student from the class of 2061 said, trembling, filled with regret.

This freshman had noticed that the expression on his senior’s face was off; the side effects of Butchering Will were starting to show.

With his Slaughter Value too high, Zhang Wei was already straining to suppress his inner desire to kill with reason.

He knew very well that if he didn’t find a place to light a bonfire and decrease his Slaughter Value now...

He would become a part of Slaughter Tower.

Zhang Wei regretted it; he shouldn’t have underestimated Mo’en City. Just because Xun Hui could come here, didn’t mean he could.

But right now, he couldn’t shake off these incredibly fast rats.

And that wasn’t the worst part.

He felt a terrifying presence. Not far away, a gigantic rat was slowly approaching.

He couldn’t even check the rat’s stats... it was a monster entirely out of his league at this stage.

Unable to fight and with no place to hide, these two students from Slaughter Tower Academy were likely going to pay the price for their recklessness today.

Unless... they entered that building.

Jack’s Deceit Building.

Zhang Wei noticed that the rats didn’t even dare to get close to the building not far behind them.

During the battle, he had unknowingly neared this building.

But he had heard some rumors; some levels had hidden monsters that absolutely shouldn’t be provoked.

These monsters had their own territory, different from those constantly roaming the city.

As long as tower climbers didn’t approach this area, they wouldn’t trigger a battle with these monsters.

But once they got close, it would be a boss fight with very little chance of winning.

Zhang Wei was an elite in the second year and would undoubtedly become one of humanity’s strong fighters in the future.

But he knew very well that in that building, there was something that even the teachers at Slaughter Tower Academy dared not provoke.

Suddenly... Zhang Wei and the freshman’s eyes widened.

The old building made a noise. The groups of rats around them suddenly retreated several meters.

The door of the old building actually opened.

A young girl walked out from the shadows of the old building, looking completely different from the scary monster Zhang Wei had imagined.

She looked... almost like a girl from Desire Tower Academy, no, even purer than them.

Even so, Zhang Wei suddenly became alert.

Because even the enormous rat he absolutely couldn’t match fled in fear.

Zhang Wei stood in front of the freshman to guard him, taking up a defensive stance. He knew he had no chance of winning.

But he had no choice; as the senior, he couldn’t just let a junior with no sequence go to his death.

But the girl showed no intention of fighting. She just said calmly:

”Do you want to come in and rest for a while? We can allow you to stay for a bit today. I have some questions I want to ask you.”

The freshman was terrified, not understanding the situation, but he had heard one thing...

The monsters in Slaughter Tower are all enemies of humanity, so don’t try to communicate with them.

The girl looked a bit lazy:

”While you are still human, you can come in and take shelter.”

”If you don’t want to come in, you can stay out there. I am not interested in whether you live or die, but I need to ask you about someone.”

”You seem to have the same complexion as him.”

Zhang Wei was confused.

He was actually more shocked than the freshman. The more experience one had with exploring Slaughter Tower, the more they understood how absurd this situation was.

Boss-like creatures usually wouldn’t interact with humans. They would kill humans as soon as they detected them.

But the girl at the doorway of the old building seemed really to have no intention of killing. If she wanted to attack, he probably wouldn’t be able to fend her off.

Could it be that killing rats triggered a hidden task?

Zhang Wei could never have imagined that a certain death row inmate far away in Deceit Tower had completed a task that ended up saving him in Slaughter Tower.

”Who... who do you want to ask about?” Zhang Wei decided to try to communicate.

The girl slowly spoke:

”Do you know Wen Xishu?”

...

...

The frequent switching of spaces causing dizziness and blurred consciousness, Wen Xishu found it rather comforting.

It felt like a sedated patient on an operating table.

A moment ago, he was still inside Jack’s old building, but the next moment, opening his eyes, he found himself in a strange room.

This room was filled with clocks and doors.

Wristwatches, pocket watches, wall clocks, sundials, hourglasses...

Wooden doors, iron doors, crooked doors, straight doors...

These elements were everywhere around him, making Wen Xishu, who was already fuzzy-headed, even more bewildered, but when he looked at the figure in front of him—

Instantly, the dizziness and drowsiness disappeared, and he became fully alert.

In front of him stood a figure with three heads.

The guide of the Three Towers.

Everyone who completed their first tower journey would meet it here.

But Wen Xishu didn’t expect the guide to look so bizarre.

But the guide was also curious. From Wen Xishu’s pupils, it could see the peculiarity.

”Interesting, who was the last one that saw our three heads?”

”It was that killer, right?”

”Oh~ I like that killer. He killed so many people. But the third head took him away!”

The three different heads started a conversation.

What surprised Wen Xishu was that the content of the conversation seemed to indicate—

Not everyone can see the guide’s three heads.

”Welcome, newbie suitable for all three types of towers. I am the guide, the one who will lead you to the top of the three towers.”

All three heads spoke simultaneously.
