Three Towers Game

Chapter 30: Chapter 23: The Futures of the Academy

Bunker Second Level.

The functionality layer is relatively empty, as no residential buildings can be built here.

However, for the people on the lower levels, they are not picky; finding a place to lie down anywhere is considered a place to stay.

Humans are social animals.

Even if there are many open spaces in the functionality layer, everyone will spontaneously gather together.

Outside the six-level hospital, a long queue had formed.

This is the fourth hour since the six-level hospital arrived. Wen Xishu’s story is still being passed down.

A portion of people have already started to recover after taking the six-level medication.

Even if the medication is insufficient, the devices in the six-level hospital are mastered by bunker’s top medical scientists in the shortest time.

Solving this pandemic crisis, and any future pandemic crises, is only a matter of time.

In an open field outside the hospital, a boy around the same age as Wen Xishu was supporting a middle-aged woman.

That was his mother, her face haggard, and her voice very soft.

But after taking the medication, she began to slowly regain her color.

The miraculous effect of the medication left the boy in awe.

He lowered his head:

”I thought my qualifications were excellent. In the Slaughter Tower Academy selection test, I got full marks in both the cultural and physical tests...”

”Even the teachers at the Three Towers Academy said my talent was rare...”

The boy’s mother, with some effort, raised her hand to caress the boy’s chin:

”Child... you are indeed outstanding. To your mother, you are the best in the world.”

The boy shook his head:

”No, mother, that’s not it. I now realize that talent is just the key to the door. Mr. Wen Xishu showed me that there’s always someone better.”

”I need to work harder. I cannot slack off because of my talent. I cannot allow my endpoint to be someone else’s starting point!”

The boy’s name was Yue Yun, soon to become a new student at the Three Towers Academy. He was also a promising talent highly regarded by the academy.

In the simulation exercises, Yue Yun’s courage and bravery, techniques and physical abilities, all received full marks, even in the cultural subjects.

In terms of scores, he was the top prospective student. If nurtured properly, his future achievements would be significant.

Perhaps upon graduation, he would be sought after by the Bunker Security Bureau and given important duties.

Although Yue Yun came from a humble background, he had managed to change his fate through his talent.

At a young age, being recognized by the Slaughter Tower Academy of the Three Towers Academy naturally made him somewhat proud.

He had also thought about competing with people like Xun Hui and Wenren Mirror one day, becoming a prominent figure in the bunker.

But life doesn’t always go smoothly.

Not long ago, Yue Yun’s mother contracted the disease. Yue Yun knew very well what it meant to take care of her.

It meant he might get infected, that his physical abilities could be damaged. His talent might not come to fruition.

Just like in football, talent is important, but only those who remain injury-free through countless long seasons can become true legends. And this is rarer than talent itself.

Yue Yun was in a dilemma, but the young boy did not choose to abandon his mother. He continued to care for her, even as he began to cough himself.

Originally, Yue Yun thought he would really miss out on the Slaughter Tower Academy this time...

But unexpectedly, Wen Xishu’s medication turned out to be a six-level drug that could treat all viral diseases.

Wen Xishu’s deeds were constantly spreading among the bunker’s lower-level people, becoming more and more exaggerated.

Eighteen years old. From the lower levels. Not yet in the academy, first time climbing the tower, Deceit Tower, six-level completion.

These words combined together, creating a great shock in Yue Yun’s heart.

He was extremely grateful for Wen Xishu’s medication, grateful to Wen Xishu for giving him another chance to return to the academy.

But his pride also took a huge hit.

There’s such a genius out there, while you thought achieving first place in the academy simulation made you one.

Unbeknownst to you, someone saved most people, including you, in much tougher real-world situations.

”I will strive to be like him. I wonder if the academy will find him. If they do, I will definitely find a chance during my time at the academy to repay him.”

Yue Yun’s mother was very gratified. She knew her son had a just and upright nature and knew to repay kindness.

”Good boy, mother is happy for you.”

Mother and son embraced each other, happy to have survived the pandemic.

...

Such stories were numerous.

Not far away, a sister who had taken the medicine brought by her brother began to gradually recover.

Unlike Yue Yun, the siblings Jianghe and Jiang Xue attracted a lot of attention. People would always come up and ask if they needed help.

The reason was simple, Jiang Xue’s features were exceedingly beautiful.

If not for Jianghe being tall and strong, and having a lot of experience in protecting his sister, Jiang Xue would have likely been harassed many times.

”Bro, this medicine really works... I’m getting better, it’s unbelievable!”

Jiang Xue’s face showed a bit more color, her eyes were full of energy, and the smile on her lips became more noticeable.

Jianghe just smiled without saying a word.

Jiang Xue noticed Jianghe’s expression and sighed softly:

”Bro... I’m better now, you should be happy for me. Today is a day worth celebrating for everyone on the first and second levels.”

Jianghe shook his head slightly:

”Sister, you’re better now, and you’ll be going to Desire Tower Academy again, right?”

Jiang Xue hesitated for a second but still nodded.

Not long ago, the epidemic made her think she might never get a chance to become a new student at Desire Tower Academy in the Three Towers Academy.

Unlike Slaughter Tower Academy, everyone wants to go to Desire Tower, so there’s a lot of connections in Desire Tower Academy.

Jiang Xue is very beautiful, she could be described as having a city-toppling beauty.

But the epidemic would make her wither quickly. To compete with those with connections, Jiang Xue had to be in the best condition.

Beauty is also a kind of wealth, which is particularly prominent in Desire Tower Academy. Ordinary people wanting to enter Desire Tower Academy must meet the external requirements.

Jiang Xue knew well that if she caught the epidemic, her sickly appearance would make it difficult for her to stand out, not to mention whether she could recover or not.

Originally, she thought that Heaven had blocked that path for her.

Jianghe said:

”Little sister, I can risk my life at Slaughter Tower Academy, I can support you for a lifetime!”

”I was not selected this time, but it doesn’t mean I won’t be selected next time! I will keep training my body, I believe I can get into Slaughter Tower Academy next time. Promise me, don’t go to Desire Tower Academy, okay?”

”That place... is really not good.”

Jianghe really cared, tears welled up in his eyes from the urgency.

Jiang Xue lowered her head, her voice soft but undeniable:

”Yes, I know my brother would risk his life for me. I also know that place is bad.”

”What can girls learn at Desire Tower Academy anyway? How to seduce, how to please, how to attract people?”

”Desire Tower Academy is full of nobles, a girl with just looks and no family background who goes there... who knows what might happen to her.”

”Maybe it could be more dangerous than Desire Tower itself?”

”And even after graduation, ha, they might arrange for us to go to some... special institutions at the top.”

”Brother, I know, I know all of this, I know it all.”

”But our family... we’re poor!”

Jiang Xue slowly raised her head, the young girl who was always gentle, now had eyes filled with harshness, Jianghe felt his sister’s hand gripping tight:

”We are the lower class, our lives are insignificant, we are the existence that the people above want to stay away from at all costs. If it weren’t for Wen Xishu, our siblings might have already... quietly laid on the ground, dying in pain at some point.”

”We wander, we gather, we shout for resistance, hoping the higher-ups would come to save us... but they closed the passage.”

”We are the ones who can be abandoned at any time! In their eyes, we are nothing!”

”Brother, I don’t want this! I can endure all the humiliation, but I don’t want to grasp nothing after being humiliated.”

”Whether I’m insulted or bullied, to accept their ridicule is fine, even... giving more is okay, I want to climb up!”

Tears glistened in Jiang Xue’s eyes.

She thought of the beatings and humiliations her brother endured to protect her over the years.

How much oppression he suffered to survive. How many hardships he went through to provide for her education.

Children from poor families grow up early, and Jiang Xue realized early on that just having beauty is a burden instead.

”I want to climb to the top of the Bunker! I want to trample those who bullied me under my feet! I want to do everything I can to become someone who can stand on her own. One day, no one will dare to talk about my past humiliations.”

”Brother, I also want to protect you, I won’t let go of anyone who hurt you. I want power and authority, even if I have to do the most degrading tasks!”

Jiang Xue spoke every word lightly, but each one was filled with boundless hatred, gritted with teeth clenched.

Jianghe’s tears fell, he knew he couldn’t persuade his sister, he could only hold her in his arms.

He could only pray for his sister’s smooth career.

...

Countless people were embracing, countless people were crying.

Wen Xishu didn’t know how many people’s lives he had changed.

He only knew... if no one came to save him, his fate would probably end today.

On the fourth level of the Bunker, Wen Xishu’s interrogation was still ongoing.

Xie Changfeng beat Wen Xishu for a long time.

Wen Xishu’s consciousness was already a bit blurry, the drugs hadn’t been used on him yet, but he estimated...

if he passed out, Xie Changfeng would use the drugs.

The effect of enraging Xie Changfeng was diminishing.

Especially... he was really weak, so weak that he couldn’t think of any sharp insults in his mind.
