Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Bunker and Three Towers

With a sense of respect, the staff immediately said:

”No wonder Mr. Liu specially asked to take care of you; you truly always think of the people.”

Wen Xishu could tell that Mr. Liu held a considerable position in the bunker.

He suddenly felt a bit puzzled:

”You should know who I am, right?”

The staff member continued to speak warmly:

”Although this information is kept somewhat confidential, I know you are the brother of the most notorious criminal in bunker history.”

”But what does it matter? In this world, there are no villains; villains are simply the result of power struggles gone wrong among those at the top.”

”Maybe your brother committed grievous crimes, but since even Liu Jinsen stepped in... I wouldn’t be surprised if you became a hero one day.”

Villains are simply the result of power struggles gone wrong among those at the top.

This statement impressed Wen Xishu deeply.

Judging by the person’s attitude, this guy was indeed a natural in the political arena.

In his original world, this guy would definitely be a seasoned Shandong native.

”What’s your name?”

”Sha Ruijing.”

”Good name. If you were in Handong Province, someone would build you a basketball court. Keep it up; you may have even more good fortune than Liu Jinsen.”

”Haha, I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare.”

Sha Ruijing laughed and waved his hand, not caring about where Handong Province was.

After all, the second young master of the Wen Family often said crazy things.

He quickly got back to the main topic:

”Actually, climbing the tower is easy. Once the paperwork is done, you can climb up at any time. You haven’t climbed the tower before, have you?”

While talking, Sha Ruijing took out a strangely shaped watch.

With a black leather strap and numerous tiny ”holes” along it, the watch face resembled a DNA double helix structure, predominantly black in color.

Wen Xishu noticed that his watch face also had a black number: zero.

”This thing is called a login device, a tool for tower climbing. Managed by the bunker’s birth office, it’s bound with your identification code.”

”The black watch is for the Deceit Tower, the red watch is for the Slaughter Tower, and the white watch is for the Desire Tower.”

Wen Xishu discovered that these three colors corresponded to the colors of the three dice in his mind.

With a strong adaptive ability, he wasn’t too surprised and just asked:

”Via a teleporter? I thought... it was through some kind of lift device, leaving the bunker, then entering the three giant towers?”

Sha Ruijing laughed:

”Hahaha... you’re very humorous. The bunker has no exit; we can’t leave the bunker.”

This statement made Wen Xishu even more surprised:

”Does that mean the bunker’s exit is blocked?”

”No, the bunker simply has no exit.”

Based on the second young master’s past issues, Sha Ruijing thought, asking such absurd or common-sense questions was normal.

”The bunker is completely sealed; there’s a saying that the bunker is alive.”

”At first, the bunker only had two layers: a functional layer and a residential layer.”

”But as humans continued to explore the Three Towers, the bunker became larger, with more functional and residential layers.”

Wen Xishu fell silent. This world was crazier than his mind.

If the bunker couldn’t be left, then Wen Chaohua’s words ”We’ll meet outside the bunker”...

...felt eerie.

He continued to ask:

”Since we can’t leave the bunker, how did humans enter the bunker?”

Sha Ruijing shook his head, saying:

”Who knows? Maybe you’ll find the answer in the Three-Tower game.”

”Some speculate that the essence of exploring the Three Towers is moving them, making the bunker larger and higher until...it reaches the surface.”

Wen Xishu pondered this idea; it seemed somewhat reasonable.

He asked again:

”Does that mean you’ve never seen the sky? Are there plants and animals in the bunker?”

Sha Ruijing still kept his kind smile:

”Plants and animals are in the functional layers; the bunker even has a zoo.”

”As for the sky and sea, you can see those in the Three Towers.”

Wen Xishu remembered that Mr. Liu said exploring the Three Towers could yield material rewards, as well as technology or facility rewards.

So the zoo is considered a kind of facility?

Suddenly, he became curious—could he bring back a foot bath shop?

If he could bring it back and include foot baths in medical insurance, he might even run for Bunker Commander.

Wen Xishu’s desire to climb the tower soared; the foot bath wasn’t important—what mattered was contributing to the people.

Sha Ruijing returned to the main topic:

”Press the button next to the watch face, and you’ll enter the Three-Tower World.”

Wen Xishu nodded and asked:

”Am I not eligible to use other colored login devices?”

Sha Ruijing nodded, speaking gently:

”You are currently under control. You can only use the black login device to enter the Deceit Tower.”

”Even normal bunker citizens must wait at least six months to switch towers.”

”The total number of login devices corresponds to the adult population of the bunker.”

”But everyone wants to go to the Desire Tower, so its entry requirements have become higher and higher.”

”Previously, a specialized degree was enough; now, even undergraduates must excel physically. Without a good background, they have to go to the Slaughter Tower.”

Wen Xishu understood.

In the Three Towers, the Desire Tower had the lowest survival difficulty.

Besides, the process of challenging the Desire Tower might not only be painless but enjoyable.

That’s why everyone wanted to become a Climber of the Desire Tower.

It was almost like becoming...those people in his past life with easy jobs and good pay.

For instance, someone like Qing Peijia, who played games daily but never updated novels.

Sha Ruijing added:

”Of course, as we discussed earlier, this world also has gifted individuals meant for the Desire Tower...”

”For them, we can relax the requirements and let them enter the Desire Tower.”

”This is to prevent those suited for the Desire Tower from dying in the Slaughter Tower; or those suited for the Slaughter Tower from indulging in the Desire Tower—”

”The bunker has established numerous institutions.”

”Three Towers Academy, Three Towers Research Bureau, Three Towers Game Distribution Office...”

”These institutions systematically and objectively allocate everyone to the appropriate tower systems.”

”To prevent everyone from flocking to the Desire Tower.”

Wen Xishu nodded, recognizing the scientific nature of this system:

”But the Deceit Tower is an exception?”

Sha Ruijing sighed:

”To be honest, the monsters in the Deceit Tower aren’t as strong as those in the Slaughter Tower.”

”But the Deceit Tower is chaotic and irrational; many who enter there die inexplicably.”

”Moreover, experienced high-level individuals from the Slaughter Tower or Desire Tower must start from scratch in the Deceit Tower.”

”So the authorities believe that newcomers should explore the Deceit Tower instead of transferring veterans from the other towers.”

Wen Xishu completely agreed.

Losing newcomers is better than losing experts.

”Actually, just exploring the Slaughter and Desire Towers can fulfill the bunker’s current survival needs.”

”This is why the Deceit Tower has remained unexplored.”

”But recently, the Co-exploration Hypothesis for the Three Towers has been preliminarily confirmed, bringing various policy benefits for exploring the Deceit Tower.”

Sha Ruijing stood up and patted Wen Xishu on the shoulder:

”Little brother, hang in there! Take this opportunity and come back alive!”

...

After completing the tower-climbing procedures, Wen Xishu returned to his prison cell.

His unique status granted him a separate cell, isolated from other prisoners.

Having asked all his questions, Wen Xishu didn’t delay any further; he directly activated the login device.

The black watch instantly tightened, as if something had firmly grasped his wrist.

Something emerged from those tiny ”holes” on the strap and pierced Wen Xishu’s skin.

The double helix pattern on the watch face began to rotate, faster and faster.

Everything in Wen Xishu’s vision became blurred, accompanied by a trembling sensation.

He suddenly saw a vast world shattering; space and time were sliced into countless fragments.

Fragments from various time points piled up in layers, ultimately forming three gigantic towers.

Some fragments even seemed familiar to Wen Xishu, somewhat similar to his own world.

Then, the climbing information appeared in Wen Xishu’s mind.
