Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 523: Chapter 497: The Uncertainties of Life

”It’s alright, we all have ID cards, the teacher’s emotions should have calmed down by now.”

Qian sent everyone out, leaving only her and Hu Meijing in the room.

After a while, Hu Meijing opened her eyes, staring emptily and despairingly at the ceiling, silently shedding tears.

She didn’t speak, and neither did Qian, who sat beside her in silence, accompanying her quietly for a full three hours until Hu Meijing finally said hoarsely.

”How could he just leave like that? We agreed to get married when he came back, how could he leave like this?”

”Yeah, life is so unpredictable, no one knows what will happen the next second.”

”I now regret why I quarreled with him. If I hadn’t argued with him, would he still be okay? It’s all my fault, it’s all my fault! If I’d just listened to him earlier and learned to control my emotions, and not vented my anger on him when something happened, it would have been so much better.”

After he left, Hu Meijing regretted it and wanted to apologize to him, but didn’t expect a goodbye that would last forever.

”I had promised to take her out, but picked up a big job and changed the schedule. She was so angry she stopped talking to me and went, in a fit of pique, to the tutoring class I enrolled her in. That was the last time I saw her. If I could have spent just a little more time with her, it would have been so much better.”

”Who are you talking about?” Hu Meijing asked in confusion, looking at Qian, but she found Qian standing by the window with her back to her, tears dropping onto the marble window sill.

”Someone very important to me, her coming into my life was unexpected, and so was her leaving. After she left, my whole life shattered. I tried hard to find a reason to keep living; I made money, won awards, did everything, but found that nothing I did could bring her back, so I understand how you feel.”

Qian’s voice sounded different, and Hu Meijing guessed that she must have been crying.

”Yeah, there are so many people in the world, why did it have to be him who left?”

”Exactly.”

”Can you understand my feelings?” Hu Meijing asked Qian.

”I can, the pain is indescribable, it’s just buried in my heart, the more you try to forget it, the clearer it becomes. Even now, I can’t completely forget her. Right after she left, I would unconsciously walk to her room in the middle of the night, wanting to see if she had kicked off the quilt, only to find she wasn’t there. Passing by the Western restaurant she loved, I would think of her laughter. To this day, I rarely eat seafood because she liked it. Sometimes when I go to the supermarket, I really want to buy seafood, but then I call the attendant only to realize, who am I buying for?”

”So you have such experiences too...” Hu Meijing seemed to find an outlet for her emotions.

”On the downside, life is a journey destined for goodbyes. From birth to the end of life, we are constantly parting from family, friends, children, and lovers. All these ties will eventually end, and we don’t know when they will dissolve.”

”That’s true, but I would rather he wanted to marry someone else than have him be gone like this. Actually, we weren’t a perfect match; I had a bad temper, and he always gave in to me. I took advantage of his love and always lost my temper with him. Every time I got mad, I couldn’t control myself, said all sorts of hurtful things, talked about breaking up so many times, and every time he came back for me. I regret it so much now. I wish we would’ve just broken up back then. Maybe if he’d found a gentle woman, he wouldn’t have died.”

As Hu Meijing spoke to this point, she was already sobbing uncontrollably, words that had been bottled up for so long.

She couldn’t forgive herself.

”Cry, I’m here with you.”

Qian’s first step was to release the pressure in Hu Meijing’s heart. After the emotions were released, she could then instill new concepts. Doing this, she also released some of her own emotions.

”The man I feel guilty about is Liu Shuang. He was a very good man, always smiling, treating me really well...”

”Would you like to tell me your story with him?”

”We met through an introduction. Honestly, my intention wasn’t very pure back then. I didn’t have a stable job, so I thought about marrying someone with a stable job. He had a stable job, so we could be stable in the future. But the first time I saw him, I felt as if I’d known him for a long time. He was wearing a white shirt that day. Though my intentions were impure, I eventually really fell in love with him...”

As Hu Meijing recalled those days, Qian stood by the window, listening patiently. She was actually multitasking, her mind filled with memories of time spent with her daughter.

Some things you think you can forget, but one day, out of the blue, they strike you, and the pain that was hidden surfaces. When she treated others, she also opened her own wounds repeatedly.

Walking through life, losing piece by piece, until reaching the end. One comes to this world alone, and when leaving, there’s only oneself.

By disappearing, those who care for you experience loss again, this cycle of passing down from generation to generation is the cruelty of life.

But after crying, one must dry the tears and continue walking the unrelenting path, so Qian’s tears were reserved for herself only.

As Qian guided Hu Meijing in her treatment, Chu Xuan watched through the glass as Hu Meijing cried in pain, his eyes full of sorrow. He knew that the woman inside, who had the same face as his wife, was not truly his Jingjin at this moment.

That was also a kind of loss.

”...That’s how the first therapeutic session went. I spent several hours guiding her feelings, and in the next step, I plan to begin formal treatment.”

Qian recounted the therapeutic process to Mr. Liu.

By this time, Mr. Liu had already been untied. She leaned against the headboard receiving an IV, with Mr. Liu standing by, holding a cup of water and occasionally checking the IV bag.

If you looked closely, you’d see two fresh scratches across Mr. Liu’s face. Realizing Qian had been staring at his injuries, Mr. Liu shot her a glare.

See, I told you! That old lady claws!

He was scratched when untied, and she aimed for the face.

Telling his coworkers back at the office tomorrow, wouldn’t they laugh at him?

Mr. Liu could easily imagine Yu Minglang leading the laughter.

Qian found Mr. Liu’s expression somewhat endearing, withdrew her emotions, and continued reporting the next steps of the treatment plan to her teacher.

”How is her health?” Mr. Liu’s concern was for the child inside Hu Meijing’s belly.

It’s crucial for pregnant women not to be overly emotional, especially in the early stages of pregnancy. Extreme joy or sorrow can cause a miscarriage.

”The doctor just checked, and so far she’s physically alright. There’s no sign of miscarriage yet, but we can’t continue like this. I’ll prioritize the mother’s health; whether the child can be kept is now up to fate.”

Qian was particularly decisive when handling such cases. As the attending physician, she couldn’t hesitate for a moment. Without the courage to take action, not to mention the child, even the mother’s survival might be uncertain. This decisiveness was truly rare.

”She doesn’t know she’s pregnant, does she?” Mr. Liu asked.
