Chapter 516: Chapter 490: Qian’s Grand Gift (1,450 Monthly Votes + Update)

”Mom, what’s wrong? Is there a rat?” Chen Zilong came in wielding a slipper, looking at his mom holding a box and shouting.

”Who put this—Qian’er!”

Jia Xiufang, surprised, immediately thought of her daughter. Qian leaned against the door frame.

”Try it on, see if it fits your chubby little neck.”

”Nonsense, your mom’s only 140 pounds, how did I become chubby? Where did this come from?”

Inside the box was a gold chain, estimated to weigh at least 20 grams.

”Actually, I wanted to buy you a diamond, but considering your tacky taste and your identity as a junk dealer-turned-property tycoon, wearing this out probably makes more sense to intimidate others.”

”Where did you get the money? How come you didn’t consult me on such an expensive purchase, child you really...”

”I earned it, who else would I spend money on if not my family? Let me put it on you, see if my plump yet charming mom can wear it. Look at how you’ve been living, making money but not buying any jewelry for yourself.”

Qian helped Jia Xiufang put on the chain, Xiufang touching her neck in the mirror, still a bit uneasy.

”Where did you get the money? It’s not from Minglang, is it? Don’t use someone else’s money to buy me things, tell me how much and I’ll reimburse you.”

”Vulgar! Can’t I earn it myself? It still fits, you’re not too chubby yet, but being this chubby can be dangerous. Here, take this, exercise when you have time.”

Qian pulled out a gym card from her pocket, also arranged in the morning, afraid her mom would procrastinate if she brought her along.

”Why spend money on this, I don’t have time... can it be refunded?” Jia Xiufang, now having met many people, had some understanding of the city’s high-end clubs. The gym card Qian arranged wasn’t cheap, reportedly only catering to wealthy ladies.

”Once arranged, it can’t be refunded. I got you a one-year membership, just attend aerobics classes and yoga when you’re free. Squeeze in some time from watching mindless TV series, make a few friends, don’t stay cooped up at home. Next time I’ll choose a beauty club for you, your economy’s up but your lifestyle’s not improving, that’s really a shame.”

Qian set aside some of the money made from fleecing wealthy clients for property investments, and some to spend on her closest people.

”I was just trying to save up for you and your brother. Your brother hasn’t married yet, in the future—”

”He’ll have to rely on himself in the future! Chen Zilong, remember that mom’s earning is hers alone, it has nothing to do with us, don’t harbor the thought of unearned gains. If you don’t study hard and amount to nothing, even if you beg, I won’t let mom give you money!”

Qian interrupted Jia Xiufang, speaking seriously to Chen Zilong.

”I didn’t say anything, sister. You bought mom a chain, what did you buy for me?” Chen Zilong was still a child, not thinking far ahead. Qian just took precautions, afraid he’d turn out like his past life, relying on family for everything.

”Your gift is on the bedside table in my room, go take it.”

”Sis, I love you so much!” Chen Zilong bounced away to get it.

Jia Xiufang fondly touched the jewelry her daughter bought, feeling happy yet sorry for her daughter. Such an expensive item, how could a student afford it?

”Don’t worry about it, you’ve worked hard for the first half of your life, it’s time to enjoy yourself. Money is earned to improve life, Dragon and I have our own lives, don’t constantly think about saving money for us. My mom doesn’t need to live so frugally, spend when necessary.”

Jia Xiufang felt instantly warm-hearted, having a daughter was truly comforting, Qian was so sweet.

”Ah!” From Qian’s room, came Chen Zilong’s scream.

Hearing her son’s scream, Jia Xiufang confusedly asked Qian.

”Qian’er, you didn’t buy him a chain too, did you? Why is your brother screaming?”

”What I bought him is much better than a chain.”

”Don’t splurge, it isn’t easy to earn money—Qian’er, what did you buy for him?”

Jia Xiufang’s question was quickly answered as Chen Zilong hugged a stack of reference books and came in, throwing them on the floor, on the verge of tears.

”Sis, what are you doing!”

Qian pulled out a piece of paper from her pocket, unfolded and spread it out in front of Chen Zilong.

”It’s the study plan your sister made for you. You must strictly follow the schedule to do your exercises daily. I’ll check when I return, and don’t think you can have someone else do it. I will compare the handwriting line by line, if I find out you have a ghostwriter—”

Qian pushed up her glasses, leaving Chen Zilong shivering.

”Sis, there’s no way I can finish all this, and I don’t know how...”

”Don’t worry, sister’s now financially stable, sister will hire you a tutor to guide you for 2 hours daily. I see your leisure life is quite rich, even daring to spend hours in game halls playing games, huh.”

”You’re not my real sister!!!”

Chen Zilong cried out in anguish.

This time, without Qian’s intervention, Jia Xiufang directly walked over and smacked him on the head.

”If she wasn’t your real sister, would she be so concerned! Who do you think she’s doing this for? You expect those books to be picked easily? She’s even made you a study plan, and you ungrateful thing, not even thanking your sister.”

”Sis, thank you. Can you take these things back? Give me back my sparkling childhood, please?”

”Your childhood’s too long, sister. Only after dealing with someone with a gigantic ego did I figure it out, problematic behaviors need correcting from a young age, being lenient now means being irresponsible for your future!”

Qian smiled gently, ”It’s okay if you can’t finish, I won’t hit you.”

”Oh, then I’m relieved.”

”I’ll remotely control your brother Lang, who’s in this city. Though he’s busy at work, he can still spare some time. I heard he could smash several bricks with his bare hands, but I wonder how many bones he’ll break if he punches someone directly? Mom, if Lang hurts Dragon, will you be mad?”

”Mad about what! This troublemaker should’ve been disciplined long ago, wandering everywhere after school and not coming home! Dragon, if you don’t behave, your brother Lang will beat you up!”

Jia Xiufang cooperated with what Qian said.

Chen Zilong was on the verge of tears.

Feeling his life was very dim.

Qian pointed to the pile of reference books, ”I’ll leave the study plan with mom. Though she doesn’t understand academic courses, I’ll have her check daily to see if you complete your work. I’ll call daily to supervise you. Miss a day, and I’ll have brother Lang punch you once, with your small physique—”

Qian looked Chen Zilong up and down, shaking her head, ”If you slack for a week, mom could prepare a wheelchair and diapers for you, your latter days will pass in paralysis.”

Utter shock, Chen Zilong felt his life really bleak, how had sister changed so much after just a day out?
