Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 513: Chapter 487: The Best of Both Worlds

”How much?!”

”20,000 per hour, which is 5.55 per second.”

”Why don’t you just rob a bank?”

”Robbing is illegal, but practicing medicine isn’t. Free market economy, free trade, no one is holding a knife to your throat making you come to me. This is the price. I don’t care if you want to see me or not. Does your son’s future mean less than a few bags to you?”

There’s really no other way, his aunt can’t find anyone else.

If Mr. Liu knew Qian dared to charge this much, he might just die from anger. Ordinary doctors charge only a few dozen per hour, or even less. Liao Fugui was definitely right saying she was disrupting market prices.

But what can anyone do when his aunt needs help? No one else but Qian can do it. The pricing of psychologists is different from that of hospitals, and there’s a lack of proper regulation in the market. Even if it’s high, there’s nowhere to complain to.

Anyone able to find Qian isn’t short on money and really doesn’t care how much she charges, especially once they see it’s worth the cost. Plus, psychologists hold their absolute secrets, and no one dares to take legal action.

Under immense pressure, his aunt gritted her teeth in anger but didn’t dare to confront Qian. Mrs. Yu, although thinking the price was high, didn’t stop it given what his aunt has done.

His uncle didn’t care at all; he was willing to spend any amount if it meant his child could get better.

”I’ll pay you!” his uncle said to Qian, but she shook her head and pointed at his aunt.

”I have this quirk. If I say it’s her money, it has to be her money. If she doesn’t pay, I won’t treat him.”

”I... I’ll pay!” his aunt said, painfully.

She has a savings account and a house. In the face of health, money means nothing. For her son, she had to swallow her pride.

”If during the treatment I need your cooperation, you must comply unconditionally. Do you understand?” The compensation had already achieved its purpose. Qian now needed his aunt to concede, branding her as the hunted and herself as the hunter. Once a hierarchy was established, there was no fear his aunt would misbehave in the future.

”...Alright, can you see Li Zhen now? He’s deteriorating again...”

”There’s no rush. Go, help my aunt in the kitchen. Cook a meal together.”

”Li Zhen is deteriorating, and you still want me to cook?!” His aunt hadn’t been in the kitchen for years.

Even when she was a young lady, she never helped around the house. Later, at the family of Mr. Yu, she also did nothing after meals other than wipe her mouth and leave. After marrying Mr. Li, she led a pampered life, hiring two maids at home and never worrying about anything.

”This is part of the treatment. You can choose to do it or not, it’s up to you.”

When she heard it was treatment, his aunt dared not delay and immediately headed to the kitchen, while Mrs. Yu was quite surprised.

”Where did that sun rise from, I have to go in and make sure my kitchen doesn’t get burned...”

By the time Qian brought the meal to see Li Zhen, three hours had passed, and no one else was allowed in the ward. Qian was alone with Li Zhen.

”How are you feeling?” Qian asked Li Zhen, placing the lunchbox on the bedside.

”Alright... Are my parents very worried? Did I overdo my act just now?”

Before she left, Qian and Yu Minglang came in with a request for Li Zhen.

If his parents sought out Qian, he would time it and pretend to be sick, convulsing or crying in pain however he wished. The purpose was singular.

To make the helpless doctor believe he was deteriorating, which meant the call his aunt made to beg on her knees was actually because Li Zhen was faking illness.

”A little white lie can sometimes be helpful for your family. Here, try this, your mother and my future mother-in-law made it together.”

Qian opened the lunchbox and took out the soup, looking up to see Li Zhen’s eyes slightly red.

”Hey, you’re not going to cry, are you? Hold it in. A real man doesn’t shed tears for nothing.”

”She hasn’t cooked in ages. It probably doesn’t taste good.”

Li Zhen was genuinely touched. He knows the kind of person his mother is, and it’s extremely rare for her to cook, especially with his aunt.

”Stick a straw in and drink it yourself. From now on, I’m your psychologist and you have to listen to me. Physical and mental health are inseparable. To treat mental illness, one must first be physically healthy. Drink some soup to regain your strength, and then I’ll start your treatment.”

”I’m not very hungry.”

”Oh, it’s okay, you don’t have to eat. I forgot to tell you, my treatment is billed by the hour, starting from when I walked in. Twenty thousand an hour, three hundred thirty-three a minute, 5.55 a second. You’ve already wasted quite a bit, though of course, you can choose not to drink it. I’m in no rush, I’ll just wait for you to finish before we start. This money came from your mother’s secret stash. Who knows if she has enough? If not, she might have to sell the house. If you continue to be uncooperative, I’ll have her sell a kidney to pay off the debt—hey, slow down, don’t choke.”

In the monitoring room, Mrs. Yu and his aunt were so excited when they saw Li Zhen eating they clasped hands together. Qian really had a way!

But after clasping hands, they felt something was off, and both let go at the same time, turning away.

”Your daughter-in-law really knows how to do business, charging by the second...” His aunt thought that spending money didn’t matter as long as her son got better, but when she sobered up a bit and did the math, she felt heartbroken again.

An hour and a designer bag was gone!

”Haven’t you had enough of kneeling?” Mrs. Yu glanced at her, and his aunt didn’t dare to speak.

This time, she truly learned her lesson. Qian held all the advantageous cards, and no one around his aunt was on her side. She dared not show off, and having spent the money, it was unnecessary to offend Qian. Actually, she was now really looking forward to Qian curing Li Zhen.

Li Zhen took a few more sips and really couldn’t drink any more.

”Chen, the skinner, can you start now? I really can’t drink anymore...”

”You must call me Mr Chen!”

What the heck is ’Chen the skinner.’”

”A bloodsucking vampire who charges by the second... My mom doesn’t have much money, why do you charge so much—wait, you’re not going to make me undergo like dozens of hours of treatment all at once, are you? Then I’d rather just die.”

”If you dare question my medical skills again, I’ll raise the price on the spot. That’s something I can totally do.”

Not only could she do it, she could do it with ease.

”...Are you an angel or a devil?” Li Zhen found it really hard to give Qian an accurate evaluation.

She did those things to get back at Jianren, like taking photos and sending dishes, making people’s hearts tremble with fear. Her fee for consultations was sky-high.

But calling her bad didn’t seem right either; she lent him a helping hand and pulled him back from the jaws of death.

”My teacher taught me not to be someone without medical ethics—if I see a sick person, I need to treat them. But I’m also someone who treats myself very well. Some people, like your mother, genuinely annoy me. To deal with such people, I can’t betray my teacher’s teachings while staying true to myself. So this is how it is~”

”Hey!”
