Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 521: Chapter 495: Still Want to Charge Money? (Monthly Pass 1550+ Extra)

”I still can’t let you handle it. Let me go, I’ll call your senior sister to come and take care of it.” This is not an ordinary case. Even if Mr. Liu can’t do it himself, he should still have one of his PhD students handle it.

”Will it still be in time by the time Senior Sister arrives? Do you have any students in Q City? Even if she comes, will Hu Meijing trust her? Out of everyone, Hu Meijing has had the most contact with me. Although she doesn’t remember that period, we all know that the subconscious preserves fondness for a person. She won’t reject me.”

Qian has previously interacted with Hu Meijing, and although Hu Meijing doesn’t remember the incident with that personality, she won’t reject Qian.

Qian is indeed the most suitable choice right now, but Mr. Liu is still uneasy. No matter how talented Qian is, she’s still just a child. Without ample clinical experience, children shouldn’t be sent out easily.

Especially in such complex cases.

This is different from the minor psychological issues before; this time, even Mr. Liu doesn’t know what to do.

”Teacher, before I get my license, let’s stick to the old rules. I’ll tell you my thoughts and diagnosis plans, and if you find them suitable, then I’ll go ahead. I’ll keep you informed of any progress, and we can discuss any problems anytime, okay?”

”This...”

”Actually, there’s something I haven’t told you. Do you know why I call you Teacher? Aren’t you curious about why I know so many treatment methods?”

”Yes, it’s indeed strange that, as a child who just got into college, where did you learn all of this? Your clinical experience seems quite extensive, much like my early days.”

A closed-door disciple taught personally; it would be strange if it weren’t the case.

Qian had long thought of a strategy.

”That’s because I once found a notebook filled with case studies. After reading it, I was greatly inspired, opening a door to the mysterious world of psychology. The notes were signed by you, which is why I applied to this school.”

”So, you found it?” Mr. Liu indeed had a habit of taking notes on the go.

Qian also picked up the habit of taking notes, something she learned from her teacher.

”Yes, unfortunately, when I moved, my unreliable brother lost that notebook. However, I remember the clinical cases it mentioned: phobias, mania, anorexia, bulimia, social phobia. You wrote in great detail.”

Qian memorized them, thanks to Mr. Liu’s past teachings.

One day, while organizing materials for her teacher, he suddenly had an epiphany and said he lost a notebook around the millennium that had clinical treatment records of several cases. He asked Qian to submit a case every week and copy related professional course literature if she made mistakes. It nearly tormented Qian to death.

It was because of such a teacher that Qian’s professional foundation was so solid.

”I wondered why, even though I hadn’t taught you, you always had my touch. Looking at it this way, you indeed count as my disciple.”

Mr. Liu unexpectedly felt comforted, feeling that Qian calling him Teacher was completely appropriate.

”I was able to start in this field because of your notes. Now I’m here to handle this issue, and if you find anything amiss, feel free to correct me. Treat me as your eyes, okay?”

Qian thought that this excuse was perfect, virtually flawless.

No one knew about her rebirth, and since her style was so similar to Mr. Liu’s, using this excuse would fend off future doubts. Calling him Teacher became even more justifiable.

”Tell me your plan,” Mr. Liu was somewhat yielding.

”Given the current situation, trying to suppress her memories with the previous methods won’t work. I suspect you used hypnosis to suppress her memories earlier.”

”Was that in my notes?”

”No, your notes were just an introduction. I read a lot of additional books. You know that first-year courses are all theory, and those aren’t as engaging as clinical textbooks.”

”Continue.”

”You’ve heard of ’Gun and Yu’s Flood Control’? Gun tried to control the floods by blocking them, but he failed. Dayu learned from Gun’s failure and changed the approach to channeling the floods instead, achieving great success. I want to use a similar method to treat Hu Meijing.”

”You mean... guiding her to release emotions? No, that’s not feasible; she’ll definitely break down.”

Back then, why did Hu Meijing develop alternate personalities? Because she ignored everyone’s advice and saw Lone Wolf’s body, and furthermore, she took a look at Liu Shuang without anyone noticing, which shattered her after witnessing the tragedy.

Now that she’s pregnant, how can she undergo such trauma again?

”If she doesn’t complete the tasks from years ago, her emotions will always be suppressed, and she still won’t be able to keep the baby. She doesn’t listen to anyone now and greatly resists hypnosis. I’ll guide her to fulfill her wishes, then use conservative methods to bring out her gentle personality.”

Qian spoke with much more confidence than in her past life.

Ever since she discussed with her teacher last time, she had been reflecting. If Shi Touyu sought her treatment again in her past life, would she handle it like Mr. Liu did with Hu Meijing’s case?

Perhaps, but although they are the same illness, specific treatments vary.

Qian also imagined another result: if hypnosis suppression led to a sudden personality awakening in Hu Meijing, what would she do? And it happened as expected.

One personality awakened, while the other fell asleep.

”This is quite risky, as there’s no precedent of such cases.”

”Clinical practice is all about feeling your way across a river by stepping on stones. Isn’t that what’s written on the first page of your notebooks? Each psychological ailment, even if they share symptoms, may require different treatments. Because there are no success stories, we must feel our way across.”

Mr. Hu wrote that same sentence on the first page of every notebook. Qian often helped her organize these, so she knew.

Qian couldn’t claim certainty, but she was determined to try courageously.

Mr. Liu hesitated at first, but seeing Qian’s particularly confident expression and hearing the sobbing of Hu Meijing from the adjacent room, sounding like she was crying herself hoarse, he felt heartache.

She’s a pitiful child, crying aloud when she can, silently shedding tears when she can’t, with sorrow trapped inside. Listening to it is truly heart-wrenching.

”Go ahead, but if you can’t resolve it, come back immediately. Call in your teacher’s advisor; I’ll have him get your senior sister here. If you can’t do it, we’ll have her take over.”

Qian removed Mr. Liu’s glasses again, placing her hands on each side of his face, using the warmth of her palms to comfort her teacher.

”Teacher, you need to have confidence in yourself. How could students taught by you fail? Just rest well, and consider this treatment my voluntary service—I’m not charging you this time—”

”You still want to charge?!”
