Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Han Shanzuo explained his purpose to Zhang Yi.

He hoped that Zhang Yi could take him along to escape when necessary.

After all, this operation would be deep in the underground abyss.

If danger arose then, escaping would be extremely difficult.

However, for Zhang Yi, whose survival skills were second to none, this wasn’t too big of a problem.

Zhang Yi nodded, ”That’s easy! We’re all allies, it’s only right to help each other out.”

Han Shanzuo nodded with satisfaction. His large face was fair and clean, with a sparse little mustache at the corners of his mouth. He looked simple and honest, possessing the standard appearance of a man from the Northeast.

”I like your attitude! Don’t worry, I won’t let you help for nothing. Once we’re down there, we’ll watch each other’s backs.”

He slapped his thigh, ”To be honest, out of all these people, you’re the one I think most highly of. If you run into trouble down there, I’ll risk my life to keep you safe!”

Zhang Yi’s mind was already rolling its eyes a hundred times over.

If you had that kind of ability, why come to me asking for help to escape?

”Easy, easy, we’re all about mutual assistance.”

Adhering to the principle of not hitting a smiling face, Zhang Yi still gave Han Shanzuo some respect.

Han Shanzuo sat cross-legged beside Zhang Yi, chatting about this and that. At first, Zhang Yi didn’t think much of it.

But gradually, his talk started to change flavor.

”Back in the day when I was hunting in the Changbai Mountains, man, the tigers up there in the Northeast were huge, standing five or six meters tall! Luckily, a big white bear I raised chased it off.”

”You know about big white bears? Not actual bears, dogs, but as big as bears.”

Zhang Yi: ”Heh heh, fascinating, fascinating.”

After bragging to Zhang Yi for a while, Han Shanzuo left contentedly, patting his shoulder on the way out.

”If you need anything, just holler! Your big bro’s got your back.”

Zhang Yi’s eye twitched uncontrollably.

But he was also well-traveled, having met many people from all over the country who came to work in Tianhai City.

In the entire Huaxu Kingdom, when it came to boasting, the men from that Northeastern region were definitely top-tier.

”Probably because the weather’s too cold, lacking outdoor activities, so they’ve trained their mouths to be pretty slick!”

Zhang Yi shook his head with a smile.

He didn’t actually dislike people like Han Shanzuo. On the contrary, back when he worked at the warehouse, he knew a few Northeastern buddies. Having them around while drinking and chatting was always fun.

There was just one thing: whether they were drinking or not, once a topic got going, they’d practically drag it all the way to the cosmos.

As for Han Shanzuo’s abilities, Zhang Yi still didn’t know.

But judging from his behavior, Zhang Yi surmised he probably possessed considerable close-combat strength.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t be so casual and careless about getting close to others.

Take Zhang Yi himself, for example; he was very cautious about maintaining distance from others.

The Fu-37 cut through thick clouds like a steel dragon, swiftly leaving Shengjing and heading towards the Qinling Mountains in the southwest.

They didn’t stay on the plane for too long before arriving at this mountain range.

The Qinling Mountains, stretching across the heart of the Huaxu Kingdom’s land, serve as the geographical north-south dividing line of the country.

Revered as the dragon vein of Huaxia civilization, it connects with another famous dragon vein, the Kunlun Mountains.

Its sprawling, winding form lies across the land like a giant dragon coiled upon the earth. Seen from high above, it was quite spectacular. Even now, blanketed in snow, one could still feel its majestic grandeur.

The plane landed at Snow Dragon City on the eastern side of the Qinling Mountains.

Everyone disembarked one after another. A burly man led a team to welcome them here.

The Garrison Commander of Wuyou Valley, Zhen Yuanzi, Zong Yue.

He wasn’t very tall, just over 1.7 meters, and over forty years old, but his build was as stout as a bulldog.

Seeing the reinforcements arrive, Zong Yue forced a smile onto his face that was almost imperceptible.

”Everyone, welcome. Time is tight, no time to rest. Please follow me to the operations room first!”

After saying this, Zong Yue turned and walked towards a building not far away.

Zhang Yi whispered to Deng Shentong, ”This guy seems a bit rigid.”

Deng Shentong glanced at him, ”That kind of personality is indeed most suited for being posted to the border, guarding a harsh, remote place.”

Zhang Yi couldn’t help but nod.

Indeed, compared to the comfort of Shengjing, the living conditions in Snow Dragon City were clearly much more rudimentary.

A simple interaction, a few monotonous words, was enough to show that Zong Yue was not a smooth or tactful person.

Everyone took this in stride. The three Epsilon-levels followed Zong Yue to the conference room, while the others waited in the hall below.

Fatty Xu had just sat down when Li Yangyang came over to his side. Her fair, slender hand rested on the arm of his chair as she smiled at him.

”There are too many people over where we are. I came over to sit with you all for a bit. You don’t mind, do you?”

Her smile was gentle, the kind that easily made people feel close.

Before Deng Shentong and the others could say anything, Fatty Xu hurriedly replied, ”No, no, not at all! Please, sit wherever you like!”

Deng Shentong and Old You wore mischievous, amused smiles, clearly enjoying the show. Liang Yue couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow, her gaze falling on Li Yangyang with an inscrutable look in her eyes.

Looking over at the dozen or so members of the Thirty-Six Heavenly Champions, they were also watching this side with odd expressions.

Liang Yue thought to herself: She’s really too bold, flirting with Fatty Xu so openly like this.

Li Yangyang was indeed very bold.

She sat next to Fatty Xu, her smile gentle, the tenderness in her eyes like melting spring water, which couldn’t help but make Fatty Xu’s heart flutter.

”I didn’t expect you to come along this time either! That’s wonderful. This way, I won’t feel lonely.”

Li Yangyang said with a smile.

Fatty Xu’s ears turned red. He grinned foolishly, ”It was precisely because I knew you were coming that I resolutely decided to join this mission!”

”That’s truly wonderful. With you here, my heart feels much more at ease.”

Li Yangyang clasped her hands over her heart, her eyes practically sprouting little hearts.

Fatty Xu was incredibly excited. He took Li Yangyang’s hand, his small eyes unusually wide open, and said with a serious expression:

”Don’t worry, I’ll definitely protect you well. I won’t let you suffer any harm!”

”Lei Lei...”

”Yang Yang...”

The people around them felt a wave of disgusted chills. Deng Shentong, Old You, and Liang Yue quickly moved to sit farther away, afraid that getting any closer would make them explode.

At the same time, the Thirty-Six Heavenly Champions sitting on the other side also increased their distance. They were even rubbing their arms, as the two’s sickeningly sweet display had given them goosebumps all over.

Meanwhile, in the conference room upstairs, Zong Yue was earnestly explaining the operation plan to the other three.

”Recently, we have conducted a detailed exploration of the abyss and figured out the behavioral patterns of the Ground Centipede colony.”

”This is a colony with exceptionally strong reproductive capabilities, especially the two Epsilon-level Broodmother and King Worm. They are producing powerful offspring at an astonishing rate.”

”Therefore, we must act swiftly and decisively, aiming for a decapitation strike!”

”Otherwise, if we give them a chance to catch their breath, they will quickly burrow away. By then, the consequences would be endless!”
