Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Yang Xinxin walked step by step up the high stairs, then arrived before the main gate of the Earth God Temple.

Two tall female guards stood at the entrance, respectfully opening the tall doors of the main hall for her.

”Miss Yang, please!”

Yang Xinxin’s face showed no expression as she walked step by step into the great hall.

The massive palace was magnificent and empty. The floor beneath her feet was made of the most precious golden bricks, which would produce a metallic sound when struck. It was said each brick was worth no less than its weight in gold.

And as Yang Xinxin raised her head, she saw, in the distant space ahead of her, a girl dressed in black clothes, cold and beautiful, smiling as she looked towards her.

”Yang Xinxin, long time no see.”

Yang Xinxin nodded. ”Long time no see, Guan Longyue.”

Guan Longyue beckoned Yang Xinxin over. Beside her was a small tea table. She had already prepared black tea and pastries for Yang Xinxin.

Yang Xinxin also walked over without ceremony and sat down opposite her.

Two elementary school classmates, not exactly close but not strangers either, sat together again after many years.

”After the Apocalypse, I once searched for those old friends. But most of them vanished without a trace, though a portion did survive.”

”However, the person I’ve been most concerned about in my heart all along is still you.”

Guan Longyue poured a cup of steaming hot black tea for Yang Xinxin.

Yang Xinxin said lightly, ”Oh? Really? But we didn’t seem to have much interaction. I didn’t know I was that important in your heart.”

”The you back then was exceptionally dazzling, someone impossible to forget no matter how much time passed!”

Guan Longyue said with a smile.

Yang Xinxin’s smile was somewhat profound.

”That’s all in the past. Compared to you now, I’m just an ordinary person.”

The corner of Guan Longyue’s mouth lifted almost imperceptibly.

”It’s just fate playing tricks,” she picked up a pastry from the table, gently put it in her mouth, and took a small bite. ”Once upon a time, I never imagined there would be a day like this.”

Yang Xinxin said, ”Yes, now you are one of the top existences in the Huaxu Kingdom.”

Guan Longyue shook her head with a smile. ”Let’s not talk about that. Although I’ve gained many things now, I don’t feel happy.”

As she spoke, she subconsciously rubbed her shoulder.

”The burden on these shoulders sometimes feels too heavy for me.”

Yang Xinxin smiled slightly but did not respond.

Guan Longyue gazed at her exquisitely beautiful, doll-like face.

”Xinxin, have you obtained the happiness you wanted?”

Yang Xinxin thought of Zhang Yi and those family members, a sincere smile appearing at the corner of her mouth.

”I am very happy now.”

Guan Longyue parted her cherry lips, took a deep breath, then looked up at the empty, massive ceiling of the Earth God Temple.

”I wish I could be as carefree as you. Sometimes, the things I want to do, I cannot.”

Yang Xinxin’s eyelids lowered slightly.

”You already possess lofty power and status, and the ability to decide the life and death of others. If you crave even more, wouldn’t that be too greedy?”

Guan Longyue smiled. ”But sometimes, I think being a little greedy isn’t so bad.”

She looked at Yang Xinxin. From the moment Yang Xinxin stepped through the gate, her eyes had never left Yang Xinxin’s figure.

This girl, whom she once looked up to, elegant and proud like a crystal porcelain doll, was the kind of person she had most longed to become over the years.

That kind of flawlessly perfect genius, doted on by everyone.

The self Guan Longyue had once fantasized about.

”Xinxin, it’s so good to see you like this now.”

Yang Xinxin felt nothing about Guan Longyue’s form of address.

She and Guan Longyue weren’t very close to begin with. This intimate form of address merely reflected a certain mindset within Guan Longyue.

Guan Longyue believed she was now powerful enough, so she could obtain everything she wanted.

And the essence of this form of address was a mentality that others could not refuse her friendliness, as if it were a bestowal.

”Did you ask me to come here this time just to reminisce?”

Yang Xinxin asked lightly.

Guan Longyue blinked. ”Can’t I?”

She suddenly covered her mouth with a laugh. ”You, you, are you particularly nervous inside because I wanted to see you?”

”There’s really no need for that. I wanted to see you, simply because I wanted to see you.”

She suddenly rested her cheek on the back of her hand, looking melancholy. ”Ah, when you hold a high position, there truly is a kind of annoyance. Whatever you do will make others conjure up endless speculations.”

”Precisely because of this, I have no friends by my side. Only subordinates.”

”Xinxin, can you understand this pain?”

Yang Xinxin said plainly, ”I cannot.”

Guan Longyue sighed softly. ”That’s true, I suppose.”

Yang Xinxin fell silent again.

Although she had anticipated Guan Longyue’s purpose in seeking her out, she wasn’t accustomed to flattering others.

Seeing this, Guan Longyue slightly pursed her lips, then suddenly leaned forward, bringing her face close to Yang Xinxin’s.

This action made Yang Xinxin frown slightly and lean back a little.

”Xinxin, I have no friends by my side now. Why don’t you come and accompany me?”

”In this place, whatever you want, I can give it to you.”

”You are a genius. You shouldn’t bury your talent.”

Yang Xinxin stared at Guan Longyue, saying politely, ”Thank you for your kindness. But I am with everyone now, and I am very happy. So I haven’t considered leaving them.”

Guan Longyue countered, ”But I’ve heard that in Tianhai City, you are merely an appendage of that guy named Zhang Yi.”

”He has many people around him, and you are just one of his appendages. Isn’t that burying your talent?”

She narrowed her eyes, her gaze carrying a hint of laziness, yet also a fleeting sharpness.

”Others might not understand you, but I know you.”

”You possess a terrifying talent. If you are willing, you can become an extremely powerful existence.”

”Just like me.”

Yang Xinxin took a sip of black tea. She showed no sign of being moved by Guan Longyue’s words. Instead, leaning back in her chair, a blissful smile appeared on her face.

”Guan Longyue, you and I are different.”

”As for me, as long as I can see my brother continuously grow stronger, my heart is very satisfied!”

Her smile grew increasingly intense. Thinking of the time spent with Zhang Yi, thinking of watching Zhang Yi grow stronger step by step, her expression became more and more infatuated and morbid.

”I have no interest in becoming powerful myself.”

”I, you see, am fond of the raising type.”
