Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

Li Changgong’s words prompted his subordinates to shower him with flattery, followed by mocking Zhang Yi’s cowardly fighting style.

”Not daring to face a proper battle, what kind of expert is he!”

”And he’s actually considered the strongest superhuman in the Jiangnan Region?”

”Though... being able to escape from our Supreme Commander’s grasp does show he has some skill.”

Li Changgong frowned slightly. ”It’s actually a bit of a pity. I underestimated this Chaos. I fell for his trick.”

The Earth War God beside him hurriedly asked, ”Commander, what did he do?”

Li Changgong let out a bitter laugh and shook his head. ”He concealed his true strength and then made a bet with me. I thought victory was assured, but I didn’t expect him to trick me.”

”This time, I have to pay him a large amount of supplies as the wager.”

Everyone hearing this wasn’t too concerned. Just paying out some supplies wasn’t a major issue for the Northwest Region.

The entire Northwest Region was Li Changgong’s domain; he could give to whomever he wished.

Li Changgong ordered the Human War God to coordinate and commanded the Northwest Region’s quartermaster to immediately transport a large quantity of supplies to Shengjing.

The Five Pole War Gods naturally didn’t dare voice any objections.

Still, there was some loss this time, which somewhat damaged Li Changgong’s reputation.

The South Pole War God said worriedly, ”I’m just afraid some people in the region will be dissatisfied and spread rumors behind the scenes.”

Li Changgong snorted dismissively, leaning back in the sofa chair and crossing his legs.

”They’re just a bunch of insignificant nobodies. What is there to fear?”

”However,” his gaze turned cold, ”someone in the region definitely betrayed me!”

He wasn’t a fool.

After this battle, he lost, that was a fact, but he would also review the fight.

Thinking it over carefully, he could see that apart from seeming a bit rushed at the start, Zhang Yi hadn’t suffered any real losses. Moreover, all his subsequent countermeasures seemed as if he had long anticipated Li Changgong’s abilities.

This didn’t look like being unprepared at all.

Not many people knew Li Changgong’s abilities; few from other regions knew his exact capabilities.

Only a portion of people in the Northwest Region had seen him in action.

”Once matters here are concluded, I will definitely conduct a thorough investigation! I’ll root out all those who oppose me in the shadows!”

The Sky War God, named Cheng Lanlan, hearing this, immediately smiled knowingly. ”Commander, I have an idea. I wonder if I may speak?”

Li Changgong glanced at her. Cheng Lanlan was his most trusted confidant, not only exceptionally powerful but also very capable at handling affairs, essentially serving as Li Changgong’s strategist.

”Oh? What’s your idea? Speak freely.”

A profound smile appeared at the corner of the Sky War God’s mouth. Her eyes also held a smile, but it was devoid of any warmth, chillingly intimidating.

”This battle, Chaos used tricks to barely manage a draw with you.”

”If it were a battlefield encounter, he definitely wouldn’t be your match. Why not send back word that you defeated Jiangnan Region’s strongest superhuman, Chaos. Use this to intimidate those insignificant troublemakers.”

”As for the transported supplies, they can be explained as needed for the Qinling operation.”

”Once the Qinling matter is resolved and we obtain that ten percent share of the elemental ore, all problems will naturally be solved.”

Li Changgong frowned. ”Is that appropriate?”

Though his words said this, inwardly he was very satisfied.

The Sky War God truly was the worm in his belly, perfectly voicing his inner thoughts.

Even though he lost to Zhang Yi, on the surface, he still had to declare to the Northwest Region that he had won.

Moreover, this kind of news would be spread in an unofficial form.

As long as enough people said it, it would become the consensus of everyone in the Northwest Region.

Even if Zhang Yi or people from other regions discovered it someday, he could dismiss it as rumor; after all, Li Changgong himself never said it.

The Sky War God nodded. ”It’s all for the stability of the region; it’s necessary. Besides, isn’t it only natural that you could defeat Chaos?”

”Zhang Yi opposing you was completely like picking up a rock only to drop it on his own foot.”

After speaking, the Sky War God lowered her head, a flicker of helplessness flashing in her eyes.

Others might not know what happened, but she had already guessed eighty or ninety percent of it.

What kind of proud and arrogant person was Li Changgong?

Upon first arriving in Shengjing City, he used his influence to pressure others, directly going to Zhang Yi’s door to challenge him.

If he had won this time, he definitely wouldn’t be this quiet now.

Adding the requested supplies, the so-called wager payment, thinking about it carefully revealed the truth.

But even if Li Changgong really lost, Li Changgong absolutely could not lose!

He had to win, win big!

He had to let everyone in the Northwest Region know that the commander they trusted was heaven’s favored son, even a god in this apocalypse.

...

A few days later, the supplies from the Northwest Region arrived.

Those supplies were divided up cleanly by the major regions, with Zhang Yi naturally receiving the most.

His Dimensional Space gained another massive batch of supplies.

Nowadays, the household’s supply consumption was growing larger and larger. After all, for superhumans, converting food into energy was the primary method.

Yet even so, Zhang Yi’s vast stockpile of supplies still ensured everyone didn’t have to worry about food.

In Shengjing City, Li Yangyang, acting as a guide, led Zhang Yi and the others around to various sights.

The city was noticeably quieter than Blizzard City because in the Northern Regions, the climate was even colder.

Only people like Zhang Yi and his group could enjoy the highest-grade combat suits, allowing free movement in ultra-low temperatures of minus seventy or eighty degrees Celsius.

Li Yangyang led everyone to the side of a huge ancient well.

She introduced with a beaming smile, ”This is the Lock Dragon Well. It’s said to have been built during the time of Emperor Chengzu of Ming, Zhu Di, by the demonic monk Yao Guangxiao. Two flood dragons are locked beneath it.”

Around the Lock Dragon Well, the snow and ice on the ground had been cleared away very cleanly.

This might not even be achievable in Blizzard City, because operating snowplows daily required massive amounts of energy.

Elemental ore.

This name surfaced in Zhang Yi’s mind. He suddenly realized why Yang Xinxin had insisted he participate in this operation.

If he could really get a share of that ten percent elemental ore, perhaps he could even rebuild Tianhai City.

Thinking of that once incredibly prosperous metropolis, Zhang Yi couldn’t help but feel a pang of emotion.

So, the apocalypse had only arrived a little over a year ago.

Then why did it feel as if a whole century had passed?

Things remained, but people were gone. That was probably it.

Li Yangyang was already there, smiling as she introduced to everyone, ”The common folk of Shengjing come here during festivals, throwing coins into the well to pray for blessings. It’s said to bring good luck!”

Hearing this, the girls in the family immediately brightened up.

Zhang Yi didn’t really understand this, but women seemed to be very keen on these blessing and prayer things—except for Yang Xinxin.

However, the first one to run over was Fatty Xu.

He raised his right hand high. ”Me first! Hehe!”

Zhang Yi looked at Fatty Xu. His face carried a blissful flush, and his eyes seemed brighter than usual.

Maybe it was an illusion, but Zhang Yi even thought this fat otaku had gotten a little bit handsomer recently.

At the very least, after getting up every day, he knew to wash his face with facial cleanser now.

”Is this the power of love?”

Zhang Yi said flatly.

When he looked at the smiling, affable Li Yangyang, his eyebrow twitched.

Just what was this person trying to do?
