Chapter 675: Chapter 558: Rainwater_1

Accompanied by roaring, the earth shook, and dust flew into the air amidst the loud bangs.

”PTUI!”

Under the sickly yellow sunset that made one’s stomach turn, Augustine crouched behind cover, spat out the dust in his mouth, and looked up at his companion carrying the massive communication equipment, ”Isn’t it ready yet?”

Amidst the roaring, the Scholar in charge of communication was lying on the ground, his ear pressed against the speaker. After a long time, he looked up and shouted, ”The Director of Affairs says it’ll be soon.”

”How soon is ’soon,’ damn it! He’s fooling you and you believe it!” August’s eyes widened. ”I suspect he’s had Parkinson’s since I was eight years old; he just loves to fool people!”

”He says it’s on the way!”

”That means at least another damn hour—”

After catching his breath, August wiped the sweat from his face and said, ”Can the Undead Army get into the action? Coordinate with the Faceless One, and let’s charge again! Gargoyles, get ready to take to the skies shortly—”

”The Faceless One still needs a quarter of an hour to prepare.”

”Then I’ll charge first!”

The elder raised his hand. The resting Snake-men behind the barricade silently drew their Curved Knives and mounted the huge War Lizards.

Among them, some still had wounds bursting through their bandages, and others had even lost eyes and arms. As if completely numb to pain, under the elder’s command, the Snake-man army operated like a machine.

Behind the temporary wartime fortifications, an intense killing intent had already begun to spread.

When the Legion’s Firepower, coming from the Colonel, paused for a moment, August seized the opportunity. Roaring, he flipped over the barricade. Fierce frost spread beneath his feet, freezing a layer of ice over the yellow earth and shattered stone slabs.

As he charged forward, his form grew larger.

A layer of sharp ice-iron Armor had formed on his imposing frame, and two winding horns unfurled from atop the Armor. In his hands, what had initially been an ordinary walking stick rapidly became covered in frost, sprouting a sharp Sword Blade.

Drawing the majority of the Firepower, he seemed to be heading to his doom as he threw himself into the most fiercely bombarded center of the battlefield.

But then, his body flashed out of sight.

He had bypassed the converging Firepower and leaped hundreds of meters, appearing amidst the Colonel’s Legion, his bizarre Sword Blade sweeping across.

In a spray of blood, several front-line soldiers were cut in half at the waist.

The Frost Giant of the Path of Dusk’s Third Stage, in combination with the Traveler’s Wand that enabled spatial jumps, inflicted heavy casualties in a single encounter.

But after causing a disturbance, August didn’t dare linger. He used all his strength to cast a wave of spreading chill before quickly retreating, reappearing in the distance.

Depleted of Source Substance, he was nearly exhausted.

Behind him, the Ice Crown Star left by the Frost Giant slowly spread, freezing everything in its path, including the air itself. But the dreadful cold was quickly dissipated without a trace by the high-temperature burning.

Hundreds of Salamanders ascended into the sky.

After drawing a massive amount of fuel for temporary enhancement, these Salamanders’ flames blazed twice as high as a person, their silhouettes almost solidified into forms, leaving a trail of burning flame wherever they went.

At great expense, the Ivy League had hired all four Salamander settlements affiliated with the Eye of Nightmare, but so far, only two settlements had taken the field.

As the main assault force, they had already caused significant damage to the Ivory Tower from the start, breaking through many of the outer defensive installations with their fierce assaults.

After using a large amount of fuel and Alien Fire for catalysis, all the Salamanders had entered a rare incineration phase, where the presence of more individuals translated into even more astonishing burning temperatures.

Now, two full settlements of Salamanders had turned the entire battlefield into a furnace.

The long-planned counter-assault by the Snake-man Undead Army was futile against their defense. The Gargoyles who took to the skies later only managed to scout the situation briefly. Before they could disrupt the rear lines, they were forced to retreat to the Ruined Temple where the Control Center was located.

Even the most good-tempered person would start to get angry after being suppressed for two hours.

Especially as time slowly passed and nightfall was rapidly approaching.

If they could take the Control Center and leave, they wouldn’t have allowed the situation to become this troublesome, but the problem was... with their current Ability, they simply couldn’t move it.

Not just them, the Iron Crystal Throne would be unable to move it either.

Because the Control Center was this very Ruined Temple itself.

Including the foundation, broken walls, and altar, everything was an extension of the Control Center!

Stretching down dozens of meters into the foundations below!

This meant that August and his group, despite having seized the Control Center first, were still unable to gain any advantage and instead fell into a passive position.

To spit out meat that was already in the mouth? That would be too frustrating.

August leaned against the barricade at the entrance, raising his hand and letting others bandage him. ”Rush the Iron Crystal Throne! Isn’t it ready over there?!”

Although he knew that even if they were preparing, it couldn’t be ready so quickly, he still had to ensure he kept in touch. He needed to make sure that old bastard, Old Turtle, the Director of Affairs, wouldn’t stand him up.

He had delayed for long enough already.
