Chapter 656: Chapter 545: Then Carry It Through to the End_1

Is something missing?

What’s missing? The foul stench of Rat-men?

Watching the collective effort of everyone’s ideas come to fruition, Huai Shi was still not satisfied. Marvel instinctively wanted to argue. However, he then remembered that Huai Shi wasn’t some amateur who didn’t understand anything and just pointed fingers randomly, so he forcibly restrained himself.

After a long silence, he asked, ”Then, do you have any suggestions?”

”Sorry, I’m not trying to nitpick,” Huai Shi scratched his head, thought for a bit, and said seriously, ”It just feels a bit half-hearted. You see, since we’re after excitement, why not go all the way?”

”Huh?” Marvel was astonished.

They were nearly turning Rat-men into the Abyss Great Muscle Tyrant. How could that not be thorough enough?

”Like, for instance, look at these bones—”

Huai Shi pinched his chin, thought for a while, and said, ”Since we’ve already modified so much, there’s no need to stick to keeping the bones authentic, right? Many Skills are limited by the strength of the bones themselves and cannot be utilized. But why can’t we completely transform the Rat-men’s bones, too? I remember there’s that kind of... that kind of Potion that can turn bones into metal material. What’s it called... Marrow Iron Transposition Solution?”

As a professional Alchemist specializing in Metallography, Huai Shi was all too familiar with this process. ”You see, if we completely transform the bones into metal, there’s actually a lot of room to work in other areas.”

”But, um...” After consulting for quite some time, Marvel turned around and said, ”The Alchemy Potion you mentioned requires coordination with a larger scale of Mystic Ritual and ceremony to achieve high precision. Otherwise, the transformed bones might just become pure Iron Ingots, and even the hematopoietic cells inside the bone marrow and the nerves outside could be killed in the process.”

”Don’t worry about that.”

Huai Shi smiled and raised his hand. In his palm, countless tiny iron pieces grew out like crystals. ”This is my specialty.”

He had been assisting Alchemy experiments with Hand of Confinement for who knows how long. Merely applying a Potion and controlling the extent of steel conversion was a piece of cake. Just a few more directional runes for finer adjustments in the Mystic Ritual, and there would be no issues whatsoever.

”We need to discuss this further.”

Out of scholarly prudence, Marvel didn’t dare agree immediately. He turned to head to the conference room, but after taking a few steps, he turned back to Huai Shi. ”Would you like to join us?”

”Perfect.”

Huai Shi put away the Blueprint, looked up, and revealed a smile. ”I also have many inspirations I’d like to share with everyone.”

On the operating table, the ignorant Rat-man suddenly shuddered, as if it had a premonition of the nightmare to come.

The highly efficient meeting lasted a full four hours.

After four hours, the leader of the Gargoyles suddenly received a signal from Huai Shi to come to the medical room.

Just as the bat-winged Demon finally squeezed through the door of the medical room, it saw a line of Scholars and Alchemists, who had been waiting for a long time, lift their heads in unison, revealing a chilling, unsettling gaze.

As if they were looking at a lab rat.

Something’s off with you lot!

The Gargoyle felt a chill at the base of its skull.

Before it could even go on alert, it saw Huai Shi at the front. He was wearing a white coat and smiling as he looked up and asked, ”You’re here? Interested in a CT scan?”

Yes, yes, absolutely!

The Gargoyle nodded frantically, afraid that any hesitation would lead to it being dragged away for dissection by this bunch.

When it left the medical room trembling in fear an hour later, it had complied with all the bizarre examinations. These included, but were not limited to, CT scans of various parts, ultrasound scans, and even deeper Source Substance sampling.

Sometimes the intimidating looks from the Scholars were scarier than a live dissection, keeping it under extreme mental pressure the whole time. When it was finally told it could leave, it still couldn’t quite believe it.

Only after triple-checking that they wouldn’t perform any weird experiments or dissections on it did it scamper away faster than a rabbit.

The Ivory Tower played too many tricks! If not for contractual obligations, it would have wanted to just run away for good.

Once it had left, the Scholars inside the medical room exchanged their views and finally turned to Huai Shi. ”Your proposal is theoretically possible. It also avoids the need to take various drugs for maintenance within the four-month shelf life. If maintained properly during use, it could even last for more than ten years. However, without trials, we cannot be certain this method is viable.”

”Then let’s test it out. Practice is the true test of knowledge, isn’t it?”

Saying this, Huai Shi looked over the cases of the gravely wounded, then selected the ’Lucky Kid’ who was about to become the first ’New Era Rat-Man’.

I wonder which lucky member of the group it will be? Truly something to look forward to...

Reinforced skeletal structure, three secondary brains, optimized neural architecture, organ transplants, reworked Immune System and circulatory systems, and the implantation of various man-made devices, along with continuous Alchemy Secret Rites throughout the process.

From the inside out, all cumbersome and useless organs were swapped out.

Reproductive system: removed—after all, they weren’t here to breed. Digestive system: removed, replaced by a more advanced Source Supply System...

After completely overhauling every single part of the Rat-man, what emerged was a new creature born from the original Rat-man’s basic form.
