Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

In the distance, his phone was vibrating. He gently kissed her smooth, jade-like forehead, then helped her pull up the blanket and tiptoed off the bed.

He might not have realized it himself, but all his actions were done with care and tenderness.

”Eldest Young Master, the Second Young Master just came out of room 999’s supreme suite, what do you think?”

The club manager, following Joshua Hughes’s instructions, watched the whole night and, upon seeing Luis Hughes emerge from the room, called Joshua to report.

”Hmm.”

Without saying much, just a faint acknowledgment to show understanding, he hung up the phone.

Looking at the woman on the bed, beautiful like a begonia in spring sleep, a smile curled at his lips; this game was indeed incredibly fun.

Avery Jane slept in a daze, sore all over. She opened her eyes and everything in the room was consistent — rustic elegance emanated from the wooden room.

She was still wearing the long, plain nightgown. The pillow on the other side of the bed was clean and tidy, showing no sign of having been used.

Yet something felt odd about all this; she seemed to have gone out yesterday with Evelyn?

The wooden door knocked twice: ”Miss, if you’re awake now, please come down for breakfast.”

The voice of the peculiar old woman at the door was calm, without a trace of emotion.

”Got it, thank you.”

Her throat felt dry and hoarse, her mind muddled with blurry images moving like slow-motion film.

The man’s robust physique intertwined with her soft, supple form; her legs tightly wrapped around his waist. She stood a bit weakly from the bed, with vague memories of these things, yet couldn’t recall them completely.

Just standing on the ground, she felt that sticky and ambiguous warmth begin to flow.

After washing, she went downstairs filled with questions.

The dining table was prepared with a variety of delicacies, with small portions but a wide array, exuding tempting aromas.

Avery glanced at the peculiar old woman about to leave: ”Could you please tell me, did Mr. Hughes return yesterday?”

Her mind was tangled with questions concerning yesterday, which felt like an unsolvable mystery.

”Young lady can call me Nanny Collins. I can’t bear the title ’you,’ dearie. Last night, Mr. was home reading, then returned in the early hours, but left early this morning. You slept soundly, might not have noticed.”

Nanny Collins coldly answered Avery’s question and disappeared from the dining area, leaving behind Avery and a table of delicious food.

That pervert, he must have returned yesterday and done that while she was asleep.

But she clearly intended to handle business for Arthur Yates yesterday, and Evelyn was supposedly waiting outside. Yet now she remembers nothing that happened afterward, did she fall asleep on the job?

This is truly bad.

Avery ate a little, recalling the medicine bottle Arthur Yates had given her, with three pills inside. She checked if any were missing.

With urgency, she hurried upstairs, finding her coat hanging on the rack. From the pocket, she retrieved the small medicine bottle, trembling as she unscrewed the lid, pouring out those pink pills. The three pills lay quietly in her palm, none missing.

Avery sighed with relief, unsure why she felt relieved that Joshua Hughes hadn’t had that kind of relationship with Evelyn again.

Picking up her phone revealed it was already afternoon, yet no calls.

A bitter smile surfaced on Avery’s lips; she was completely useless at M.C Headquarters now, devoid of ad shoots. Even though Grant’s advertisement was highly successful, she was like a fleeting meteor across the sky, disappearing without leaving her rightful glow.

Skipping work went unnoticed, no one asked after her, not even Angela Scott, usually her closest friend. Probably busy with newcomers.

And herself, like a wandering ghost in this picturesque little building, awaiting the nighttime man to indulge his phenomenal physical strength.

All life she envisioned — sunlight, children’s smiles, a family happily eating together, a man watching the shifting clouds with her day after day — all became grand fantasies.

After Joshua Hughes, would any man still want her? She had long lost her direction on the path to happiness...

Waking up similarly, Evelyn Yates painfully adjusted her body, feeling as if there wasn’t an inch of good skin anywhere. Her fair skin was covered with crisscrossed fingerprints, her long legs adorned with bite marks, some wounds even bleeding, dried and looking cruel and terrifying.

That drug was truly potent; yesterday he was so violent.

Recalling yesterday, Evelyn carried a proud smile on her haggard face. If all went well, she had successfully obtained his essence.

Surely this time she’d be successful, right?

Despite the pain from all over her body, she shivered and donned her clothes slowly and gracefully.

Before long, she could make that little slut Avery Jane disappear.

Though the little mansion she stayed in was far less comfortable than Hughes Castle, it was a decent choice for ensuring a healthy pregnancy.

Avery was only fit for lowly work, cooking various dishes under her command, and enticing Joshua Hughes while she was pregnant. Once she smoothly delivered the baby, it’d spell the end for Avery.

The Hughes Family heir was always only one, and Hughes’s household rule had the eldest son inheriting all estates. Then she’d rise to nobility as mother, imagining this brought a proud smile to Evelyn’s face.

”Father, it’s settled. I’m heading back to Hughes Castle.”

She picked up the phone to call Arthur Yates, waiting anxiously at home for news, realizing the ginger was truly spicier the older it got; she would truly need to rely heavily on her father moving forward.

Evelyn exited the room; here lay Hughes’s private club, naturally opulent beyond description.

All this would belong to her; Evelyn gently stroked her belly, thinking ten months later, all this would be hers.

”Miss, you’re up now. Young Master Hughes left early, instructing me to send a car for you.”

The manager bent over, greeting her with diligence; Second Young Master Hughes was long gone, Eldest Young Master Hughes ordered someone to escort her.

At the time, Eldest Young Master Hughes wore a joyful smile, saying, ”Have someone send her off. Luis must’ve given her a tough time.”

Those sentiments were proving true; Second Young Master Hughes’s antics with women were no short-lived caprice.

The manager lowered his head, ever since entering this clubhouse he’d never stood straight, among so many dignitaries.

”Then why don’t you hurry up?”

Impatiently Evelyn eyed the manager, truly lacking wit.

She was Joshua Hughes’s woman, equating her to the lady of the place now; realizing this her tone transformed.

She didn’t notice outside the window, clouds were slowly gathering in the afternoon sky...

No matter how sly Arthur Yates was, encountering someone like Joshua Hughes felt akin to facing a fierce, precise hunter.

Joshua Hughes’s intention was merely to continue playing; he could strip this so-called old fox of his hide and tendons in mere moments otherwise.

The Yates Family thought of rescuing their declining fortunes with a child, but hadn’t seriously considered whether Joshua Hughes was a man they could truly play with.

The men spending that night at the club each led unique lives.

Take Alexander King, who routinely visited the woman he kept, though the sentiment seemed to have started changing.

Could it be the marital status began restricting him, curbing previously untethered freedom?

He clearly wasn’t the type to be restrained.

Why did Nora Thompson marry him?

Warm water rinsed over Alexander’s body, cleansing alongside it endless questions.

However, this wife was not too bad, never interfering with his whereabouts, never causing trouble, at times nearly negligible apart from her presence in the air.

This wasn’t terribly different from bachelorhood; he could seek women or indulge in drinks with good friends.

Yet somewhere was an error, a subtle imbalance persisting it seemed.

Morning air held a slight chill as he rose and picked up a clay pot, crushing soaked rice into a finer texture, boiling it into thick porridge, accompanied by light side dishes. Nora observed the prepared breakfast on the table; it seemed he overslept a bit.

He typically awoke by this time, considering whether to rouse him when the room door swung open, perfectly tailored handmade suit fitting his frame.

”Good morning.” Alexander softly kissed her cheek.
