Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game

When she saw him just now, he was holding that woman with an indifferent look on his face, a trace of a wicked smile on his lips.

She thought he must be the kind of playboy easy to get close to, but she didn’t expect that when he stared at her just now, his eyes were as terrifying as if they could devour someone. Moreover, when he pulled her hair, she felt such pain as if her entire scalp was about to be torn off, and the fear made her shiver and cry.

The elevator reached the hall, and everyone had already returned to their rooms. Joshua Hughes dragged the nurse out of the elevator and viciously threw her onto the floor without a trace of compassion.

The housekeeper, who heard the scream from the fifth floor, hastily changed clothes and rushed out. Nothing had happened at the Hughes Family lately, so why did such a commotion occur as soon as the young master returned today?

”Go get everyone out, including that woman.”

Joshua Hughes sat on the sofa, speaking coldly. If he was in a bad mood, then no one would have a pleasant night.

The housekeeper glanced at the little nurse sitting on the ground in disarray, her face as white as the snow outside. What kind of trouble did she cause to make the young master so angry?

Thinking this, he dared not say more and lowered his head to gather everyone in the front hall. It seemed the young master was in a particularly bad mood tonight.

Evelyn Yates was lying in her room, biting her teeth hard. The image of Joshua Hughes holding Avery Jane upon his return replayed in her mind like a movie. She was unwilling, utterly unwilling.

Why was it Avery Jane who caught his attention?

Tossing and turning with indignation, unable to sleep, someone gently knocked on the door outside.

”Miss Yates, the young master requests your presence.”

The housekeeper’s tone was calm, but the voice was loud enough for her to hear. Evelyn’s heart started pounding. Anything related to this man, any news, was enough to make her heart race.

Tonight seemed especially cold. Evelyn walked to the cloakroom, picked up a long fur cloak, and draped it over her shoulders.

The luxurious fur was flawless, and wearing it, she appeared as regal as a queen. Even at home, even so late, she wanted to maintain her best appearance in front of him.

Evelyn combed her long curly hair, tidied up briefly, and then went out.

Walking into the hall, all the servants were already standing neatly, heads down, hands gently crossed in front, in a uniform standard posture.

And Joshua Hughes sat in the center sofa, coldly watching the snowflakes falling outside. The little nurse sat on the floor, her hair disheveled and crying. What on earth had happened?

Evelyn walked over with the demeanor of the mistress, and indeed, in her subconscious, she’d always considered herself the mistress.

”Joshua, what happened?” she asked softly, sitting down beside him.

”If the servants aren’t doing their job well, just talk to them. If that doesn’t work, we can replace them. No need to get upset.”

As she spoke, she turned to instruct the housekeeper: ”Go get the young master a cup of tea.”

But after she spoke, she noticed the housekeeper didn’t move at all, still slightly bowing his head, maintaining his previous posture, as if he hadn’t heard her.

”Hurry up.” Evelyn’s expression changed slightly, feeling a bit embarrassed.

The hint of anger in her tone revealed her inner insecurity. The housekeeper at the Hughes Manor didn’t take her seriously. If he didn’t go to fetch that cup of tea today, where would her dignity go?

Unmoved, the housekeeper heard Joshua Hughes’s icy voice echo in the large living room: ”Was it you who sent her to my room?”

No trace of emotion, no fluctuation in the tone of his voice, cold and calm like a frozen lake.

”Joshua, I just thought you’d be hungry coming back so late. I wanted her to bring you some supper.”

A sense of foreboding began to surface in Evelyn’s heart.

No one was allowed into his room. Once, she had tried to sneak in but was stopped by the housekeeper.

At night, after everyone had returned to their rooms, she instructed Little Emma to bring him a midnight snack because the sight of him holding Avery Jane as he went upstairs had really upset her.

There was a bit of spite in her actions, and she hoped that a young girl like Little Emma might catch his eye, at least distract him somewhat, as she didn’t want Joshua Hughes’s entire attention on Avery Jane.
