Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

”Serves her right. She’s a psycho,” Ge Yan said, shaking her head, speechless.

Honestly... whoever was on her team was bound to have bad luck, weren’t they?

How could such a ridiculous woman even exist?

She was still hung up on who owned the Mutated Parrot?

Captain Xie had tamed that parrot a long time ago. Otherwise, how could it have commanded its minions to grab the Gold Pearls and drop them onto the battlefield?

No one knew what went on in her head, still obsessed with the Mutated Bird.

The Mutated Bird was powerful, sure, but that kid from their Swift Leopard Team was definitely not cut out for taming it!

Li Dawei rolled his eyes at the sky. ”I was just wondering when Xie Ning got so gentle. This woman’s been running her mouth for ages, and Xie Ning still hasn’t done anything.”

Xie Ning didn’t just use her hands. She used her feet, too.

As if one slap wasn’t satisfying enough, Xie Ning started kicking Xu Yu several times, cursing as she did, ”Yeah, that’s right! I stole something from your kid. I stole it, so what? What are you going to do about it?”

Everyone: ...

”Xu Yu, let me tell you, you have officially pissed me off. In the past, you’d avoid me, and I could just treat you like air. But starting today, I’ll remember you.”

”From now on, you’d better hope I don’t run into you on a mission. Let me tell you, if I see your team, I’ll wipe you all out. I’ll make it my mission to target your team and steal from you. I’ll take whatever I see, whatever you have, whatever I want. Don’t even dream of getting a single damn thing. Mission objectives? Contribution Points? Pah! You won’t get a single one.”

”I’m making it clear right now: from now on, anyone on good terms with your team is someone the Starfire Team will refuse to associate with.”

The color instantly drained from Xu Yu’s face.

She never expected things to escalate to this point.

A Sixth-rank Superpower User had personally declared herself an enemy of their Swift Leopard Team. From now on, their lives were going to be difficult.

Tears instantly flooded Xu Yu’s eyes as if a dam had broken. SPLASH! They streamed down her face. She sobbed, her body wracked with tremors. ”You... you’re... you’re bullying me! You’re just using your strength to oppress the weak! This is robbery!”

”That’s right!” Xie Ning swatted away Gu Chen’s hand and pointed at Xu Yu, her voice like steel. ”I *am* bullying you, oppressing you, and using my strength to humiliate you! And you brought it all on yourself!”

”If anyone else on the Swift Leopard Team had half a brain, they’d stay far, far away from a jinx like you.”

Gu Chen pulled his fuming girlfriend back and soothed her gently. ”I’m fine. Don’t work yourself up so much.”

Xie Ning punched his chest in frustration. ”She’s a psycho! Thinks the whole world owes her something. Coming up and cursing you out of nowhere... What for? What right does she have to yell at you?”

”You’re right, you’re right. Don’t be angry, Ningning. We’ll just ignore her. Come on, let’s go. I’ll take you over. The entrance is a little narrow, so everyone line up.”

Everyone scrambled to form an orderly line, not daring to make a peep at a time like this.

A Gold Ability User pushed Li Xiang’s wheelchair, falling in right behind Xie Ning and Gu Chen.

As everyone lined up, they unanimously left Xu Yu, Zhuang Lei, and their little group standing outside the line.

Zhuang Lei’s face was grim; he felt utterly humiliated.

Tears streamed down Xu Yu’s face as she hugged the listless Lin Yiyi. ”What did I do wrong?” she cried. ”I was just worried about the child!”

”How could Xie Ning treat me like this? How can all of them treat me like this?”

The few team members behind Zhuang Lei gave Xu Yu an unreadable look before glancing back at Zhuang Lei.

”Sorry, Captain. We originally wanted to follow you, but now...”

’A fucking Sixth-rank Superpower User just declared herself an enemy of the Swift Leopard Team. How are we supposed to follow him now?’

’Aren’t we just asking for trouble?’

The group ran over to Zhuang Jia and Luo Yanan and quietly joined the back of the line.

”Zhuang Jia,” Zhuang Lei called out.

”Brother,” Zhuang Jia said with a sigh, shaking her head. ”Let’s just leave it at this. We should split up the team.”

”Zhuang Jia, what do you mean? You really want to dissolve the team with your own brother?” Zhuang Lei’s face was thunderous, veins popping on his forehead.

Xu Yu started to panic. She followed Zhuang Lei, still holding Lin Yiyi. ”Zhuang Jia, don’t be angry with your brother. He’s your own flesh and blood, how can you do this to him?”

”Shut your mouth, you bitch,” Zhuang Jia sneered. ”Who gave you the right to speak? I’ve been putting up with your bullshit for over a year! Thank fuck I can finally be done with you. We’re finally free.”

Luo Yanan glanced at Zhuang Lei’s furious face and quickly stepped forward to grab his wife’s hand. ”Jia.”

”You stay out of this! I’ve had more than enough of her. In the past, I let things go for my brother’s sake. She’s a ’white lotus’... no, that’s not it! She’s a ’green tea’ Holy Mother bitch.”

”How can someone as disgusting as you even exist? It was bad enough that you were always taking our team’s resources to play the generous, kindhearted benefactor everywhere. But since it was supposedly ’a good deed to help people,’ the guys didn’t argue with you. I had to hold my own husband back, and we just gritted our teeth and endured it!”

”Did you think we did it because you’re so important? It was all for my brother! If it weren’t for him, we would’ve fucking kicked you out of the team ages ago to let you fend for your damn self!”

”Water Ability Users in other teams are all at the Third or Fourth Rank after a year of training! And you? The water you produce is barely more than a fucking trickle of piss!”

”You’ve always been this useless, and you’re even proud of it.”

”When people play games, they level up! They go from Level 1 or 2 to 17 or 18, and they can at least kill some mobs. But you? Bitch! The second you see a zombie, you fucking hide in the back and scream! What the hell are you screaming about?! It’s like the other women on our team aren’t women at all! Like you’re the only ’real’ woman, the only one who’s fragile and delicate and needs protecting!”

Xie Ning’s group paused, and everyone turned to watch the argument.

The fight was just too good. Unable to resist, they all stopped in their tracks, entering full-on spectator mode amid the swirling sand.

When Gu Chen turned his head, he saw one of his subordinates making strange faces and wiggling his eyebrows at him.

”Is your eye having a seizure?” Gu Chen shot back, his face expressionless.

”Captain, she was worried about you, wasn’t she?” ’Damn, the captain’s lady is amazing!’

’When can I find a wife this powerful to lean on, too? *Sniffle, sniffle...*’

The corners of Gu Chen’s mouth quirked up. He couldn’t help but shoot his subordinate a smug look, followed by a glare that clearly said, ”Get lost.”

Meanwhile, Zhuang Lei was so furious he looked like smoke was about to pour from his ears.

He was a man who had always cared deeply about his pride. To have the woman under his protection be viciously cursed out by his own sister—worse than a dog—in front of so many outsiders made him even more furious than Xu Yu herself.

”Zhuang Jia!”

Luo Yanan couldn’t pull his wife back in time. He could only look at her helplessly before turning to Zhuang Lei with a nod. ”Brother, maybe this is for the best. After we split up, you and Xu Yu can live your lives however you want. No one will have to accommodate anyone else. It’ll be better this way.”

”Let’s make it a clean break.”
