Apocalypse Escape: Day One of Survival

Xie Ning focused her full attention, weaving together a Spirit Net.

She immediately felt the spiritual power of the others flowing endlessly toward the massive net she had woven, converging upon it.

”Can you feel the spiritual connection now?”

”Yes!”

”We can!”

The voices that suddenly rang out in their minds invigorated the many Spiritual Ability Users who had hesitated for a moment.

’So Spiritual Abilities have such a wonderful use?’

”Can you see the map in the spirit world?”

”Yes!”

”We can!”

It was so magical. Each of the Spiritual Ability Users was as excited as if they were on steroids.

With their eyes wide open, they could still see the swarm of birds blanketing the sky above.

But within the net that Captain Xie had constructed in the spirit world, they could all clearly see small red dots, a dense and endless stream surging from all directions toward the center of the map.

”Very good. I’m now assigning numbers to the nine of you. Can you see the numbers above your heads on the Spirit Net?”

”Yes!!”

”We can! Wow.”

After blurting out in surprise, a slightly younger Spiritual Ability User quickly shut his mouth and obediently listened to Xie Ning continue.

”This proves that every one of you has excellent talent for the Spiritual System,” Xie Ning said encouragingly. ”I can see that Number 4’s Spiritual Ability is the strongest among you.”

”So, will you lead the charge?”

”Yes!” Number 4, the Spiritual Ability User, was the very same young man who had just exclaimed, ”Wow.”

The moment the young man heard Xie Ning praise his exceptional talent, his blood rushed to his head, and he agreed in a heartbeat.

”Now, take Number 1, Number 2, and Number 3 to the very center and sense the strongest Spiritual System fluctuation.”

”Remember, you must act together. I’ll give you all a push from behind.”

”Number 5.”

”Number 5 here!”

”Number 5, along with Numbers 6, 7, and 8, you will now form a Spiritual Barrier. At the critical moment, use it to protect Number 1 and the others, giving them enough time to retreat.” Xie Ning’s voice in the spirit world was exceptionally crisp and clear.

The moment she spoke, she could instantly capture the full attention of all nine Spiritual Ability Users.

”Number 9 will stay with me for now.”

”Okay!”

”Okay!”

”This Spiritual-type Mutated Bird’s Spiritual Rank should be quite high. The fact that it could gather so many Mutated Birds proves it has already developed a degree of intelligence.”

”Now, on my command. Get ready!”

Everyone focused their full attention.

”Number 4, begin!”

On the massive spirit map, everyone else could see the small green dot with a number ”4” above it, sputtering as it shot straight ahead at incredible speed.

Xie Ning gave a continuous stream of commands, telling the small green dot whether to go straight, turn left, or turn right.

She had an instinct, a premonition that she was getting closer and closer to that mutated Spiritual Zombie!

The small green dot ”4” charged ahead, with ”1,” ”2,” and ”3” following closely on its flanks, their hopping pace not slow either.

They might have been hopping along cheerfully at the front, a seemingly comical and amusing sight, but Xie Ning couldn’t relax for even a second.

About ten minutes later, Xie Ning’s gaze sharpened.

’Found you!’

”Number 4, it’s directly in front of you. A little farther. Everyone else, get ready. Form the Spiritual Barrier.”

”Captain, I see it! The color is different! It’s red with black in it—a red-skinned, black-hearted Mutated Bird!” Number 4 suddenly cried out.

At the same time, Xie Ning’s spiritual power transformed into a sharp blade and shot forward, striking the very center of the small red dot.

”CAW—CAW CAW.” The furious, guttural cries of the Mutated Bird flock echoed from the sky.

Xie Ning issued a command, ”Retreat!”

Then her body was in motion.

All the Spiritual Ability Users, panting slightly with pale faces, withdrew their spiritual power. They looked up just in time to see Captain Xie taking the lead, charging fearlessly upward on a set of transparent stairs.

”You all head down,” Xie Ning commanded again.

None of the Spiritual Ability Users moved, craning their necks to watch the sky.

Gu Chen rushed up with Wang Bingwu, Xue Feng, and the others. He repeated the order to the Spiritual Ability Users who were standing on the transparent steps, gawking. ”All of you, get down and replenish your energy.”

’Look at them, faces as pale as ghosts. Who are they trying to scare to death in the middle of the night?’

”Yes, sir!” A few members of the base’s Superpower Team One snapped to attention and replied. Not daring to linger, they quickly led the other Superpower Users down.

”Little guy, you’ve been caught in my Spirit Lock. Where do you think you can run!”

Xie Ning ran swiftly up into the sky. As she neared the dark, dense clusters of birds, a smile touched her lips, and her pace actually slowed.

”You think I can’t find you just because you’re hiding in this pile of Mutated Birds?”

’Too naive!’

Xie Ning stood her ground and sent several Spiritual Blades slashing horizontally through the air.

The few birds that were touched by her Spiritual Attack all shrieked tragically and plummeted toward the ground.

Before they could even flutter twice, they were smashed and beaten to death by the various Superpower Users who had given chase.

A long Gold Lock Chain appeared in Xie Ning’s hand. She flung it straight into the sky, where it spun and carved an arc through the air.

Several bolts of lightning shot up from behind her, CRACKLING loudly.

The two powers merged, swinging perfectly into the flock and knocking down swathes of Mutated Birds.

”You’ve advanced in rank!” Xie Ning exclaimed in surprise.

’This guy’s advancement speed is barely any slower than mine.’

’I have the unique advantage of being able to extract the purest energy from Crystal Cores to make my own Energy Balls, which makes advancing effortless.’

’Is this guy just exceptionally talented?’

”You’re messing around. Why didn’t you call me in the middle of the night?” Gu Chen flew to her side and launched countless millstone-sized Thunder Balls at the surrounding bird flock.

Smashing into the flock, they triggered a chain reaction of the Thunderbolt system.

The scene was truly spectacular, filled with a great CRACKLE POP from the sky above.

”After you advanced, the electric current can stick to an enemy’s body and quickly conduct to those around it!”

Gu Chen rubbed her head firmly. ”Girlfriend, don’t change the subject!”

Xie Ning turned her head and smiled at him. ”Don’t worry, I know my limits.”

She had a limitless supply of Energy Water to replenish her superpower energy.

Even if she couldn’t replenish with Energy Water in time, in an emergency, she could draw on the energy within her Energy Balls.

And frankly, using her self-made Energy Balls to replenish her superpower energy was the most direct method. Even if it couldn’t provide a 100% recharge, it could guarantee about 80%.

It was... a must-have item for brawls and fights.

This was something she hadn’t told anyone explicitly; it was a secret she kept to herself.

”Captain! That Fusion Technique you and Miss Xie have is incredible!” Wang Bingwu shouted boisterously, slapping his bald head with a coarse voice.

It was truly a feast for the eyes.

Just watching the flock of Mutated Birds caw as they dropped from the sky was a shocking enough sight!

”Boyfriend, I’ve found the little guy hiding in the flock. Let’s go play with it.”

With a gentle flick of her wrist, Xie Ning sent the overwhelming chains soaring into the clouds and plunging into the flock of birds.

Following behind Gu Chen, Wang Bingwu and the others all stared with their mouths agape, their faces filled with shock.
