As soon as the thought turned over in Lu Ye’s mind, he saw Qian Wudang looking at him with a smile. The distance between them soon shortened.

Left with no choice, Lu Ye could only go over and cup his fists. “Greetings, Sir!”

Qian Wudang placed one hand behind his back and hovered several metres away from Lu Ye. Then, he sized him up and nodded. “Not bad. You’re a Real Lake Realm Master now. Why are you here?”

“I have some personal matters to attend to.” Lu Ye didn’t explain anything to him.

Qian Wudang didn’t mind it as he said with a smile, “When you go back to Blue Flame Mountain Pass, pass on my greetings to your Pass Leader. She came and left in a hurry a month ago. I didn’t even get to see her.”

“A month ago?” Lu Ye was startled.

There was a meaningful smile on Qian Wudang’s face. “It was during the time you were in jail. Why do you think you could go to Blue Flame Mountain Pass?”

Lu Ye had no idea that it happened.

Qian Wudang didn’t have the intention of explaining much, so he bid Lu Ye farewell and left.

Lu Ye hovered in mid-air and fell deep in thought.

Judging from Qian Wudang’s words, Lu Ye could go to Blue Flame Mountain Pass because Nian Yuexian had come to Grand Sky City previously.

It seemed that Nian Yuexian had taken him on as a subordinate from the Ministry of Recruitment.

It was no wonder that even though there were so many Passes at the frontlines of Bing Zhou, Lu Ye was sent to a place as special as Blue Flame Mountain Pass. Before his arrival, Nian Yuexian had been guarding the place on her own for decades.

It must have something to do with Shui Yuan as well.

The two ladies were on good terms. The Crimson Blood Sect didn’t have any disciples at the frontlines, so no one could take care of Lu Ye. As such, Nian Yuexian, who had some connections with the Crimson Blood Sect, was asked to take Lu Ye to her Pass.

Lu Ye figured everything out in a short time, but unbeknownst to him, to snatch him away, Nian Yuexian had offended another Divine Ocean Realm Master. She had even beaten the person up in public.

Many people were seen moving around in the Ministry of Appointments. They were cultivators who had returned from their Passes. Just like Lu Ye, they wanted to get a promotion quickly so that they could enjoy a higher salary sooner.

At the frontlines, battle points were usually accumulated over a long time. The conflicts and battles against Thousand Demon Ridge were less frequent than others thought.

That said, there were some exceptions. The battles at some Passes were intense as both sides had to continuously recruit more people. In those places, cultivators could get a lot of battle points in a short time, but there were also many casualties.

After Lu Ye waited in the Ministry of Appointments for a bit, it was his turn. He stepped forward and passed his military token to a petite woman with a chubby face.

Every day, the female cultivator had to deal with many cultivators who were there to get a promotion, so she was experienced in what she did. After taking the military token, she asked Lu Ye about his identity and background. Then, she looked into the military token and confirmed that the information was correct before telling Lu Ye to place his hand on the Battle Point Disc to find out the number of battle points he had accumulated in his Battlefield Imprint.

Just like the previous time, the colours of the Battle Point Disc kept changing as a myriad of expressions came over the female cultivator.

Finally, she exclaimed, “Purple!”

In the previous test, the Battle Point Disc radiated a yellow glow, which corresponded to the first lieutenant. It was purple this time, which corresponded to the captain.

It seemed that Lu Ye’s calculations were right. He had accumulated enough battle points to get a promotion.

When he lifted his gaze, he realised the female cultivator’s eyes were filled with shock and admiration.

Within the Grand Sky Coalition, there were many captains. She had been helping people get a promotion for a long time, so she had even seen some people with a higher military rank such as the majors.

However, no captain was as young as Lu Ye.

He had always been on the move and had a lot of experience in battles, so he looked older than his real age. That said, he only looked like he was 20 years old.

A 20-year-old captain was unheard of before. Moreover, he was only a First-Order Real Lake Realm Master.

Usually, only Real Lake Realm Masters in the later stage could become captains. Higher military ranks such as majors and colonels were exclusive to Divine Ocean Realm Masters. No Real Lake Realm Master had ever managed to become a major.

That was because to attain those military titles, battle points were only one of the criteria. It also depended on how many contributions the cultivators had made.

Some Real Lake Realm Masters might accumulate enough battle points through their monthly salaries, but if they hadn’t made enough contributions, they wouldn’t be promoted to the ranks of majors and colonels.

The female cultivator had been doing this job for years, but it was her first time seeing a First-Order Real Lake Realm Master around 20 years old who managed to become a captain. As she looked at Lu Ye, she was shocked and puzzled.

She wondered what Lu Ye had done that helped him accumulate so many battle points.

Seeing that the woman was beside herself, Lu Ye called out, “What’s wrong, Senior Sister?”

The female cultivator came to her senses and said apologetically, “It’ll be ready soon.”

With that, she picked up Lu Ye’s military token and worked on it before passing it back to him. “Have a look and make sure everything is correct, Junior Brother Lu.”

Lu Ye took the military token and infused his Spiritual Power into it. Upon confirming that it radiated a purple glow, he kept it and smiled at the female cultivator. “Thanks, Senior Sister.”

The other cultivators watched in shock as Lu Ye left the place.

After he was gone, the female cultivator suddenly appeared frustrated. She was too shocked just now, so she had forgotten to exchange Brands with Lu Ye. He was such a brilliant young man. If the Junior Sisters in her Sect could come into contact with him, one of them might win his heart.

As for herself, she was married to a man she loved, so she had no romantic feelings for Lu Ye.

Since darkness had descended, Lu Ye decided to stay in the city.

He had taken a day off, and Nian Yuexian had told him there wasn’t a need to go back in a hurry. There was usually no war at Blue Flame Mountain Pass, so he could stay in Grand Sky City for several days or even go back to the Crimson Blood Sect.

Grand Sky City wasn’t just the headquarters of the Grand Sky Coalition. There were all sorts of restaurants and shops in the city so that cultivators could get some rest and shop around.

Moreover, the things in this city were affordable. They were usually 50 per cent cheaper than the goods in other places.

Although Lu Ye had stayed in the city for several days previously, he spent most of his time in jail. Since he hadn’t walked around the city before, he decided to do that under the bright Moonlight.

Amber crouched down on his shoulder as the two of them took a stroll around the city.

A moment later, Lu Ye stopped in front of a store that sold the meat of Spirit Beasts.

The two Flood Dragons in the Hall of Battle Points were big eaters. Lu Ye would need to spend around 10,000 to 20,000 Contribution points to buy meat every time he visited the place. As such, he decided to purchase some meat here. He and Amber would need the meat sometimes, and he could also bring it to the Flood Dragons.

He rarely used Spirit Stones, so he had a lot of them in his Storage Sphere.

After spending around 100,000 Middle-Grade Spirit Stones, Lu Ye almost purchased everything in the store. Only then did he leave in satisfaction, and the storekeeper was left there looking dejected.

Then, he entered a restaurant and ordered a lot of food. Seated near a window, he pigged out on the food.

After he finished eating, he continued to take a stroll. When he passed by a Spirit Artifact store, he entered it.

His experience earlier that day made him understand that he needed another saber as a temporary replacement while his Inviolable Saber was being repaired.

Although the Inviolable Saber would be ready soon, if he came across some enemies during this period, he might not be able to fully activate his power without a proper weapon.

That was what happened earlier that day. If his saber hadn’t come apart suddenly, the other party wouldn’t have had a chance to take a breather.

In the future, there might be times when his Inviolable Saber wouldn’t be by his side, so he needed a replacement in case he came across his enemies.

However, he was now a Real Lake Realm Master, so Spirit Artifacts were no longer suitable for him. He had to get a Spell Artifact.

Naturally, a weapon of this level was not cheap.

After looking around the shop, he found several sabers that were Spell Artifacts, but only one could meet some of his requirements.

As such, he spent a lot of Spirit Stones to purchase the weapon.

Compared with the Inviolable Saber, this weapon was sharp but not hefty enough. Lu Ye found it slightly difficult to use it smoothly. Moreover, the Inviolable Saber had been with him for a long time, so they were inseparable. No other weapon could ever replace the Inviolable Saber.

Even if this saber was just as good as the Inviolable Saber, Lu Ye could only activate 90 per cent of his power when wielding it.

Combat cultivators were heavily reliant on their weapons. It was a weakness they couldn’t deny.

After purchasing meat of Spirit Beasts and a Spell Artifact, Lu Ye was no longer in the mood to keep shopping around. He was worried he would go on buying more things.

Although he was wealthy, he couldn’t afford to purchase things endlessly.

He found a vacant house nearby and unlocked the enchantment with his military token before getting some rest inside.

Finally, Yi Yi could come out and breathe in some fresh air.

A moment later, the three of them sat down together. As a thought flashed across Lu Ye’s mind, they cultivated their powers with the help of the Heavens. At the same time, he activated the Tree of Glyphs to absorb the power of the Fire Spirit Stone.

The transformation of the Tree of Glyphs wasn’t completed yet. It was a wonder how much power was needed. Anyway, whenever Lu Ye had some time, he would fish out a Fire Spirit Stone and let the Tree of Glyphs absorb its power.

The night went by peacefully. The next day, Lu Ye got out of bed and packed up his stuff. Then, he pushed the door open, ready to return to Blue Flame Mountain Pass.

But the next second, a person descended from the sky and landed right in front of him.

The person was a burly man with a beard. Despite his ordinary appearance, he seemed to be a straightforward person.

As their eyes met, the man asked, “Are you carrying out any military duty, Junior Brother?”

Lu Ye shook his head. “No.”

The man immediately showed Lu Ye his military token. “I’m Geng Wuwang, the leader of Team A3 of Law Enforcement Hall under the Ministry of Laws. Now, I’m enlisting you to come with me to carry out a mission. If you don’t have other military duties, you’re not allowed to disobey my order!”

Upon finishing his words, he infused his Spiritual Power into his military token, which radiated a rich yellow glow. At the same time, he activated his power, which showed that he was a Ninth-Order Real Lake Realm Master.

Lu Ye was startled for a moment before coming to his senses. It seemed that he had been enlisted out of nowhere.

However, he wasn’t sure if this was even lawful.

Worried that there might be a misunderstanding, Geng Wuwang said, “Don’t worry, Junior Brother. The mission isn’t risky, and it won’t take you a lot of time. We’ll complete it in three to five days so that you won’t be held up for long. Moreover, if you come with us to finish the task, you’ll get battle points as well.”
