The yellow glow showed that Lu Ye was a first lieutenant. That way, when members of Bing Zhou Watch came across each other in the wilderness, they could produce their military tokens and confirm each other’s military ranks. During an emergency, it would be easy for them to come together and make a move.

The item had to be kept inside one’s clothes, not a Storage Bag. That was because many orders were given through the military tokens. If they were kept inside Storage Bags, the cultivators couldn’t contact each other. It was the same case for transmission stones.

Just as Lu Ye was ready to keep the military token in his clothes, he suddenly detected something and sank his soul into it.

There was a simple message that stated that he had to report for duty at Blue Flame Mountain Pass in three days.

He couldn’t help but frown, for the order was odd. A new soldier like him would usually go to one of the 12 Canyons before being assigned to a Pass.

As such, it was odd that he was told to directly head to a Pass without going through a Canyon first. Anyway, he didn’t think too deeply about it. Now that he was a member of Bing Zhou Watch, all he had to do was obey orders.

The order stated that he had to report for duty at Blue Flame Mountain Pass in three days, so he had to be there on time. If he couldn’t do that, he would be punished.

He fished out a ten-point map and took a look before realising that Blue Flame Mountain Pass wasn’t far away from Grand Sky City. Considering his speed, he could arrive at his destination in one day.

Since he had three days to spare, there wasn’t a need to set off in a hurry. Now that it was nighttime, he could get some rest and leave the city the next day.

There were many empty rooms in Grand Sky City that were meant for cultivators to get some rest. Moreover, these rooms didn’t charge a fee. Any cultivator of Bing Zhou Watch could use their military token and choose a room.

Lu Ye found a nearby room and unlocked it with his military token before entering it. It was a small room with simple decorations, but it was good enough for one person to get some shut-eye.

After spending the night there, he was energetic again. At the break of dawn, he set off on his journey to Blue Flame Mountain Pass according to the directions found on the ten-point map.

Nothing much happened during his journey. He came across several cultivators who were patrolling, and they let him go as soon as he produced his military token.

When dusk came, a mountain range in the distance came into his sight. The environment was rather humid.

This was Blue Flame Mountain which spanned across thousands of kilometres, and Blue Flame Mountain Pass was located there.

While referring to the ten-point map, Lu Ye soon found the exact location of Blue Flame Mountain Pass.

From afar, the Pass looked like a city in the mountains. The walls were tall, and many defences were seen on the walls. Although the defences were not as great as those of Grand Sky City, they would be immensely useful if those of Thousand Demon Ridge launched an attack against them.

However, Lu Ye was puzzled as to why there was no one on the walls, and the city-like Pass wasn’t covered in any Grand Ward either. Something was obviously not right.

Lu Ye felt his heart sinking, instinctively thinking that the Pass had been occupied by those of Thousand Demon Ridge. Otherwise, he should’ve seen some people moving around.

He hurriedly concealed his presence and kept Amber inside the Spirit Beast Bag before inching forward stealthily. When he was close enough, he was even more perplexed.

There were no traces of an epic battle at the Pass, nor did a metallic tang fill the air. Moreover, the buildings there seemed dilapidated.

After he entered the city, he looked into the buildings and found dust everywhere. This showed that these buildings had been vacant for a long time.

[What’s going on with Blue Flame Mountain Pass?] Lu Ye was bewildered.

He didn’t think he was the only Human in this place. Perhaps other new soldiers were on their way.

While he was doubtful, he suddenly detected something and turned round, only to see a figure standing on the roof of a nearby house. The Moonlight behind her glowed on her, making her look gorgeous.

Lu Ye’s pupils dilated because he realised the other party was staring straight at him even though he had concealed his presence.

His forehead was beaded with sweat. He tightened his grip around the hilt of the Inviolable Saber, but he wouldn’t dare make a move.

Although he didn’t know how powerful the woman was, she was probably a Divine Ocean Realm Master since she was able to detect his presence. As for whether she was a friend or a foe, it was hard to tell.

“Why are you acting like a thief? What are you looking for?” the woman suddenly said. Her voice was as icy as the Moonlight that glowed on her.

Lu Ye didn’t think she was an enemy. If she had malicious intentions, she would’ve harmed him long ago. Since she wasn’t an enemy, she was most likely a member of Bing Zhou Watch as well.

At the thought of this, he dispelled his concealment and cupped his fists. “I’m a new soldier of Bing Zhou Watch, Lu Ye. I’m here to report for duty!”

“Alright,” the woman replied impassively and extended her hand, after which Lu Ye’s military token flew to her. She grabbed it and did something as a glint flashed across the military token. Then, she tossed it back at Lu Ye.

“It’s done,” she said dispassionately. “You’re a member of Blue Flame Mountain Pass from now on.”

Lu Ye quickly looked into his Battlefield Imprint and realised there was a new piece of information. Initially, his identity only showed that he was a disciple of the Crimson Blood Sect, but now, he was also a first lieutenant in charge of Blue Flame Mountain Pass under Great Moon Canyon.

Blue Flame Mountain Pass was one of the dozens of Passes under Great Moon Canyon, and it was shown that Lu Ye was a first lieutenant in charge of this Pass.

As for what he was supposed to do, he could figure it out just by looking at his military title.

The woman could easily change the information in his military token. It showed that she wasn’t only a member of Bing Zhou Watch but also someone who held an important position in Blue Flame Mountain Pass.

“Senior, may I ask…”

“There are no Seniors and Juniors in a Zhou Watch. There are only leaders and their subordinates. You can call me Madam, Leader, or even Colonel. Whatever. However, don’t ever call me Senior.”

There was no doubt she was the leader of this Pass, and the colonel was her military rank.

Only then did Lu Ye realise that the woman was the leader of Blue Flame Mountain Pass.

“I know what you’re wondering. There’s no need to keep looking. Only you and I are here.”

Upon hearing that, Lu Ye was flabbergasted. Although he knew little about the frontline, he had heard about it from Shui Yuan. There were a total of 12 Canyons in Bing Zhou, and every Canyon had many Passes, which were heavily guarded by lots of cultivators.

Lu Ye wondered what was going on with Blue Flame Mountain Pass that only he and the leader were there. Furthermore, he was new there, so the woman had probably been on her own before his arrival.

“Just look for a place and settle in. There isn’t much fighting here, so you can do whatever you want. If there’s any issue, you can contact me through your military token, but you’d better not bother me with trivial matters,” the woman said and flew away.

Lu Ye hurriedly asked, “What’s your name, Madam?”

From afar, a dispassionate voice was heard saying, “Nian Yuexian.”

Lu Ye memorised her name. He was still in a dazed state long after the woman was gone. His current situation was different from what he had thought.

Initially, he thought that once he joined Bing Zhou Watch and came to the frontline, he would come into contact with many cultivators from different Sects and fight the enemies from Thousand Demon Ridge.

Nevertheless, once he was in Blue Flame Mountain Pass, he discovered that only he and Nian Yuexian were there. There were no other members of Bing Zhou Watch. It was a wonder why there was such a unique Pass in Bing Zhou.

Since Lu Ye was new here, it was pointless for him to worry too much. He decided to look for a place to settle in first. Fortunately, this city was quite big, and there were many houses. Although many of them were dilapidated, some of them were still inhabitable.

He found a house in decent condition and cleaned everything up before getting some rest. The night went by in silence.

The next day, he flew to a nearby Spirit Peak and looked around, feeling lost.

Although this place was the frontline where the two sides fought each other, he felt it was serene for some reason.

For a very long time, he had been contending with those of Thousand Demon Ridge on the Spirit Creek Battlefield, and it was the same on the Cloud River Battlefield. It could be said that he had always felt tense. Now that he was suddenly in such a tranquil place, he had no idea what he could do.

After giving it some thought, he decided to build a house here. Although he could live in the big city, the place was void of people. He felt strange that he and Nian Yuexian were the only people living there. As such, he decided to build a bamboo house on this Spirit Peak.

He quickly put his idea into action. It wasn’t his first time building a bamboo house, so he was pretty skilful. In just half a day, a three-storey bamboo house was completed.

He had also built several Wards around the building to protect himself. Only then was he done with everything.

Now that he had a residence, he had to do something meaningful. Since he was now a member of Bing Zhou Watch, he had a duty to protect Bing Zhou. He tried to contact Nian Yuexian to see if she had any tasks for him. Unfortunately, the woman didn’t reply to him. It was a wonder where she was.

Anyway, if a Divine Ocean Realm Master like her wanted to conceal her presence, there was no way Lu Ye could find out her whereabouts. Considering how he had been treated, he knew that Nian Yuexian probably wouldn’t want to talk to him.

In that case, he could only cultivate his power. He was only one step away from the Real Lake Realm, and he had more than enough Golden Amulets. If he never received an order from Grand Sky City, he would’ve made it to the Real Lake Realm long ago.

A cultivator had to always prioritise his cultivation. When he was powerful enough, he could do anything as he pleased.

On the third floor of the bamboo house, Lu Ye was seated cross-legged while Yi Yi was beside him.

After forming several Spirit Gathering Funnels, he crushed a Golden Amulet to pieces.

Immense Spiritual Qi emerged and was absorbed by Lu Ye. He had ascended to the Ninth-Order Cloud River Realm not long ago, and now, his power was increasing rapidly.
