Two of Ying Wuji’s subordinates were nowhere in sight. They were supposedly killed.

Lu Ye was taken aback by such an emergency as well. He didn’t expect to come across such danger in this treasure trove.

When he looked at the creatures running after Ying Wuji and the others, he arched his brow in surprise.

[Fire Spirit Race?] He had seen the record of this Race in one of the books in his Honoured Master’s library.

Presently, Humans and Mutants were the main Races who lived in Jiu Zhou. Besides the two major Races, there were smaller Races like the Five-Element Spirit Races.

Five-Element Spirit Races were gifted as they were born with many amazing Secret Techniques. The Glyphs that Humans had grasped came from their ancestors studying the Secret Techniques of the Five-Element Spirit Races.

That was the reason there was a record of the Five-Element Spirit Races in the book in his Honoured Master’s library.

However, Five-Element Spirit Races were rare. An average cultivator might not even come across one in his lifetime.

Strangely, there were presently more than 100 Fire Spirit Race members running after Ying Wuji and the others.

The environment in this place was unique, so it was only natural that special beings like the Fire Spirit Race existed. Nevertheless, there was something off about their number.

Now, it seemed that the Eight Extremes Demon Sealing Ward was used to seal these Fire Spirit Race members.

If that was indeed the case, there were probably more Fire Spirit Race members than what they saw now.

As the thought turned over in Lu Ye’s mind, he felt suddenly afraid. He instinctively reached for his saber, but there was nothing at his waist.

Seeing that Ying Wuji and the others were coming to him, he could only cast some spells at the creatures behind them, causing them to slow down slightly. Soon enough, they came together.

“Let’s go!” Ying Wuji immediately changed directions and flew towards the entrance. The others followed him closely.

Nonetheless, they soon fell into a despairing situation. As the effect of Eight Extremes Demon Sealing Ward wore off, more and more figures emerged from the ditches of lava as the Fire Spirit Race members revealed themselves.

Of the Five-Element Spirit Races, Fire Spirit Race members were the most ferocious. Moreover, since they had been sealed for countless years, they had lost their sanity. Upon detecting the auras of Lu Ye and the others, they streamed towards them and surrounded them.

Lu Ye and Ying Wuji led the way as the former continuously cast his spells while the latter wielded his machetes as they changed forward.

“Ah!” someone was suddenly heard exclaiming from behind. The person must’ve been attacked. The nearby Fire Spirit Race members swarmed towards him and turned him into blood mist.

The others were furious and afraid, but there was nothing they could do to help.

Lu Ye and Ying Wuji continued to charge forward without turning their heads. More and more Fire Spirit Race members came right at them. They seemed to have realised their intention, so they were blocking their way.

On the one hand, there was a blockade in front of them. On the other hand, the enemies were running after them from behind. They were practically at a dead end.

“Go down!” Ying Wuji instantly made a decision. He growled and took the initiative to descend.

While they were in mid-air, they were surrounded by enemies in all directions. If they were on the ground, they didn’t have to worry about attacks coming from beneath them at the very least.

Several breaths of time later, they landed in the dilapidated city. Many Fire Spirit Race members swarmed towards them like a flood.

There were even more Fire Spirit Race members climbing out of the lava and joining their companions.

More shrieks were heard as the Cloud River Realm Masters who came to this place with Ying Wuji couldn’t fend off such attacks. All of them were soon killed.

Ying Wuji was flabbergasted, not expecting the opportunity to turn into a crisis in such a short time. Life was indeed full of uncertainties.

He was slightly relieved that Niu Meng was indeed powerful as the latter could work wonderfully well with him.

Under normal circumstances, he would’ve realised that something was off. That was because the power that ‘Niu Meng’ showcased would mean there was no way he was an unknown person. His mastery of the Way of Spells was on par with, if not surpassed, Lu Qing from Myriad Spell Pavilion.

Lu Qing was ranked fourth in the Fight for Supremacy, and Niu Meng wasn’t any weaker than him. But in fact, Niu Meng wasn’t even on the ranking of the Fight for Supremacy.

In such a dire situation, they were at risk of getting swamped by Fire Spirit Race members. As such, Ying Wuji didn’t have time to think too deeply about it.

While warding off the attacks, he said loudly, “Hold on, Brother Niu! I’ve sent a message to the Pass. Reinforcements will be here soon.”

Lu Ye remained silent and continued to cast his spells to drive off the enemies.

Most of these Fire Spirit Race members were not powerful. They were equivalent to Spirit Creek Realm Masters and Cloud River Realm Masters. Only a small number of them were in the Real Lake Realm.

However, Lu Ye could clearly feel that there were even more powerful auras regaining their senses as they were ready to climb out of the ditches of lava.

It wasn’t that there were no formidable Fire Spirit Race members. It was just that the effect of Eight Extremes Demon Sealing Ward hadn’t completely worn off, so they were still sealed.

But as time passed, these powerful beings would eventually break free.

As such, the two of them had to get out of there as quickly as they could. It wasn’t a good idea to wait for those from Lone Cloud City Pass to send help.

Lu Ye was especially frustrated at the fact that these Fire Spirit Race members seemed to have natural resistance against Fire-Attribute spells, which made it hard for him to kill them.

Around 30 breaths of time later, Ying Wuji grunted as he was hurt by a Fire Spirit Race member who was equivalent to a Real Lake Realm Master.

Fire Spirit Race members were natural experts in many Fire-Attribute Secret Techniques. All of them were powerful Fire-Attribute Spell Cultivators. However, that didn’t mean they only knew how to cast spells. Some Fire Spirit Race members were burly, so it was apparent that they were good at close-quarters combat.

Although the two of them could rely on each other, they couldn’t possibly defeat so many enemies.

While staggering backwards, Ying Wuji temporarily lost the ability to protect himself. Some Fire-Attribute spells came right at him as he was inundated with a sense of death. He appeared to be despondent.

It had only been a short time since he ascended to the Real Lake Realm, and it was only the beginning of his wonderful life. Much to his surprise, he was going to lose his life here.

When he first started cultivating, the Seniors of Yama Temple told him that a cultivator’s journey was full of obstacles and that he might die at any moment. As such, he should treat every battle as his last and deal with his opponent with determination and courage. That was what he always did.

However, at this point, he wasn’t willing to accept his fate. His great life was just about to begin, so how could he lose his life here?

Unfortunately, there was nothing much he could do about it. He was a Real Lake Realm Master, and there was no way he could use a power that was greater than his own.

Then, he saw a white Saber Light flashing across his eyes. The spells coming at him exploded in mid-air as an air blast swept across the place, impacting Ying Wuji’s body as well as his mind.

He looked dazedly at the familiar figure and saber in front of him, feeling suddenly flustered.

[A Spell Cultivator named Niu Meng who is from Eastern Mound Pass? A cultivator from Thousand Demon Ridge? What a liar!]

The moment Ying Wuji saw this guy a while ago, he had a feeling that this person was Lu Ye. However, after seeing the Battlefield Imprint on the back of his hand, he cast his doubt away.

That was because Battlefield Imprints were granted by the Heavens. There was no way someone from the Grand Sky Coalition had the Battlefield Imprint of Thousand Demon Ridge. For some reason, Lu Ye had it.

There were several times when Ying Wuji felt that the other party wanted to kill him. He initially thought it was only a misperception, but now, that didn’t seem to be the case.

That was his heart telling him that he was in danger. His instincts had told him to run for his life.

[It’s really him! Why is he even here!?] Even in such a perilous situation, Ying Wuji was still flabbergasted by what he saw, and he was too stunned to react.

“Follow me!” Lu Ye used his own voice now as he let out a breath. While the Telekinetic Artifacts flew out of his weapon holder, he wielded his Inviolable Saber and cast waves of attacks at his enemies.

The Inviolable Saber was indeed the most suitable weapon for him. When dealing with enemies like Fire Spirit Race members, spells were less useful. The power of the spells he cast would be cut in half when they struck these Fire Spirit Race members. These guys had natural resistance against Fire-Attribute spells.

With the saber in his hand, Lu Ye seemed to have transformed into a different person. The Spiritual Power around him surged. Wherever he went, the Fire Spirit Race members would collapse to the ground.

Although Ying Wuji was astounded, he knew that if he couldn’t keep pace with Lu Ye, he would be doomed.

He understood why Lu Ye had decided to save his life at the most critical moment. Naturally, it wasn’t because of their time spent together in the Peerless Continent, which was insignificant. It was because, at this point, it was better to have a companion than to fight the enemies on his own. Lu Ye needed someone to ward off the attacks coming from behind him.

Ying Wuji worked perfectly well with Lu Ye, just like how they had joined forces in the Peerless Continent back then.

Presently, the truly powerful Fire Spirit Race members hadn’t broken free from the seal yet. As such, it was the best chance for the two of them to escape. If they were bogged down for a while longer, even Lu Ye wouldn’t be able to leave.

From mid-air, they could see that the massive cave was filled with Fire Spirit Race members. More and more of them were climbing out of the ditches of lava in the dilapidated city.

In this place that was full of Fire Spirit Race members, two figures, one was ahead while the other was at the back, imposingly made their way towards the entrance.

Just as they were 300 metres away from the entrance, the lava in front of them suddenly rose up and turned into a huge palm as it reached for Lu Ye and Ying Wuji.

The palm was forceful. Wherever it went, the Fire Spirit Race members would start seeing Stars upon impact. Some of them even exploded and died.

Lu Ye, who was in front, instantly felt alarmed. He looked at the huge palm and understood that a formidable Fire Spirit Race member had secretly made a move, considering how menacing the huge palm was. Perhaps the person hadn’t broken free yet, but he was already able to cast spells.

He was already so powerful when he was still confined. When he eventually broke free, he could probably use some incredible moves.

In this situation, they could either deal with the palm head-on or dodge the attack.

There were many enemies running after them, so they couldn’t go somewhere else. It had taken them a lot of effort to reach the entrance. If they backed down now, it would be impossible for them to get out of here.

Therefore, Lu Ye dashed towards the huge palm without hesitation.

As a thought turned over in his mind, the Tree of Glyphs was activated as invisible roots grew from his skin. At the same time, he infused his Spiritual Power into his saber. At that moment, flames were seen swirling around Inviolable Saber as though it was really burning.

Following that, Lu Ye forcefully wielded his saber. His relatively small figure was in stark contrast to the colossal palm.

The next instant, the palm overwhelmed Lu Ye and Ying Wuji.
