Lu Ye indeed didn’t remember exactly how many battle points he had acquired before, but he had a rough idea.

For his entire stay on the Spirit Creek Battlefield, he had never come into contact with battle points. It wasn’t until he arrived at the Cloud River Battlefield and entered Myriad Beast Domain that he acquired his first battle points.

However, in Myriad Beast Domain, he had only obtained around 30,000 battle points, which wasn’t a lot. That was mainly because too many people had taken part in the final battle, so the benefits were divided.

During his trip to the Lost City of Xianyuan, he obtained around 300,000 battle points, which were all traded for Soul Cleansing Water. As for his trip to Soaring Dragon Boundary, he had acquired roughly 280,000 battle points. When he was in the Peerless Continent, he had gotten approximately 180,000 battle points.

All in all, he had amassed around 800,000 battle points so far.

To any Cloud River Realm Master or even Real Lake Realm Master, it was a staggering number.

Take Le Shan as an example. He had only acquired 300,000 battle points so far, which was more than two times less than what Lu Ye had obtained.

The battle points a cultivator had obtained would directly determine his military rank and status in Bing Zhou Watch.

Considering Lu Ye’s achievement, he would become a first lieutenant right from the beginning, which was unprecedented.

One had to know that Le Shan was only a second lieutenant, one rank lower than Lu Ye’s title. If they were at the frontline during an emergency, he had to obey Lu Ye’s orders. Even though he was more powerful than Lu Ye, he couldn’t resist his orders.

That said, he wasn’t Lu Ye’s subordinate, so he could choose to disobey the latter’s orders and let the Ministry of Laws deal with the case.

The Ministry of Recruitment could determine the military ranks of new soldiers. However, since their founding, they had never seen any new soldier with such a high military rank right from the start.

Under normal circumstances, when Ninth-Order Cloud River Realm Masters like Lu Ye joined Bing Zhou Watch, they would either become a team leader or a squad leader. A small number of them could make it to the military rank of second lieutenant.

No one had ever directly become a first lieutenant until Lu Ye came along. Moreover, considering how vivid the glow on the Battle Point Disc was, it was about to turn into the next colour.

After the second lieutenant, it was the captain. Only some experienced Real Lake Realm Masters could hold that position.

It could be said that it was beyond their power to deal with this matter.

Le Shan rubbed his temple as this was giving him a headache. He didn’t expect such a preposterous incident to happen right before his eyes. After giving it some thought, he said, “Give me a second, Lu Yi Ye.”

Then, he tapped on his Battlefield Imprint and sent a message. It was apparent that he was trying to tell someone to come over.

While waiting, he asked curiously, “What have you done to amass so many battle points?”

Supposedly, Hidden Realms that Cloud River Realm Masters could go to wouldn’t have such massive rewards.

“I came across some opportunities,” Lu Ye replied calmly. The Hidden Realms he had gone to were too dangerous for most people. While he was grateful for the opportunities, he had also risked his life to acquire those massive rewards. In the Peerless Continent, he almost lost his life in the final battle against the Golden Corpse King. In Soaring Dragon Boundary, if not for the fact that he was given the broken Source of that world in the end, he would’ve gone to Hell.

As for the Lost City of Xianyuan, he probably had exclusive access to that place.

“Senior Brother Le Shan, can you explain to me the different military ranks?” Lu Ye asked.

When he was in the Crimson Blood Sect, Shui Yuan told him much about Bing Zhou Watch, but she didn’t elaborate on military ranks. Perhaps she felt that Lu Ye would quickly figure everything out upon his arrival.

As such, Lu Ye didn’t even know that a cultivator’s record of battle points would determine his initial military rank.

Since it wasn’t a secret, Le Shan explained, “Since Bing Zhou Watch is run like an army, there are naturally different ranks. There are nine ranks in total, which are sentries, team leaders, squad leaders, second lieutenants, first lieutenants, captains, majors, colonels, and generals. There are 12 Canyons in Bing Zhou Watch, so there are 12 generals as well. They are all Peak Divine Ocean Realm Masters. They are generals as well as the leaders of the 12 Canyons. They’re stationed at the frontline all year round to protect Bing Zhou’s safety.”

After a pause, he continued, “The military rank of a new soldier is determined by the battle points he has acquired and his cultivation, but battle points are more important. The colour shown on the Battle Point Disc will correspond to the military rank he’ll get. Certainly, there’ll be deliberate interference sometimes. For example, if a Real Lake Realm Master joins Bing Zhou Watch, even if he has zero battle points, he’ll still be a squad leader at the very least. That’s because he’s powerful enough. We can’t let a Real Lake Realm Master be a sentry. That’ll be inappropriate.”

Upon hearing his explanation, Lu Ye said, “In other words, the military rank determined by battle points cannot be changed, but if one is powerful enough, his rank can be promoted accordingly.”

“That’s right.” Le Shan gave him a look of approval. “This kind of promotion is not within our job scope. It’ll be the responsibility of the Ministry of Appointments.”

Lu Ye nodded. “What about my situation?”

Le Shan spread his palms. “We’ve never seen anything like it before. Your initial military rank is too high, so we can’t handle this matter. I’ve sent a message to Elder Shi. I suppose he’ll take you to the Ministry of Appointments. Only they have the right to grant titles above the second lieutenant. Remember, if you’re getting a promotion in the future, you’ll have to go to the Ministry of Appointments as well.”

“Got it.” Lu Ye dipped his head.

As they spoke, a short old man with a red nose suddenly appeared and sized up Lu Ye. “Is this brat the one you told me about?”

Le Shan and the others hurriedly saluted him. “Elder Shi!”

Lu Ye saluted him as well. “Greetings, Senior. I’m Lu Ye from Crimson Blood Sect.”

Although the red-nosed old man was short, he must be a Divine Ocean Realm Master, considering how much Le Shan and the others respected him.

“Crimson Blood Sect…” Elder Shi stroked his chin and grinned. “Always produces some freaks. How strange is that? Anyway, come with me.”

With that, he turned around and left. Lu Ye quickly followed him.

After leaving the Ministry of Recruitment, Elder Shi shot into the sky. Besides that, he also engulfed Lu Ye with his Spiritual Power. At that moment, Lu Ye realised what it felt like to move at the speed of wind.

Even if he fully activated his power, coupled with the blessings of Soar and Windwalk, he was still significantly slower than the old man.

About ten breaths of time later, Elder Shi brought him to a palace.

This was the Ministry of Appointments in Grand Sky City. Le Shan had said it was where cultivators had their military ranks promoted.

There was no doubt the atmosphere in this place was livelier than in the Ministry of Recruitment. The hall was full of people who had the right to get their military ranks promoted.

It was a spacious hall with simple decorations. Many cultivators were seated behind the desks with Battle Point Discs on top. Cultivators who were there for promotions lined up to hand in their nameplates and tapped their Battlefield Imprints on the discs. Then, people from the Ministry of Appointments would look at the colours and determine their new military ranks before changing the contents of the nameplates. They were pretty efficient.

Elder Shi apparently didn’t have the intention of queueing up. After entering the hall, he headed straight to a smaller room and pushed the door open.

A woman had been waiting for them. She glanced at them and asked, “Is he the one?”

Elder Shi nodded. “Yes, it’s him. Let’s see what to do about it.” He then took a seat and fished out a smoking pipe to start smoking.

The woman glared at him before saying to Lu Ye, “Let’s see how many battle points you have.”

Lu Ye stepped forward and placed his hand on the Battle Point Disc.

Just like what had happened in the Ministry of Recruitment, the disc kept changing colours. It turned from white to cyan to blue to green to a very vivid yellow colour in the end.

Although Elder Shi already knew the outcome, he still couldn’t help but lament, “Despite your age, you’ve already killed so many people. Young people these days are pretty incredible, eh?”

The woman said, “There’s nothing wrong with his battle points, but his cultivation is too low.” No Cloud River Realm Master had ever made the Battle Point Disc go through such a transformation before.

“What’s your decision, then?” Elder Shi asked.

“Well, what else can I do? I can only follow the rules,” the woman replied with a smile.

Elder Shi bowed his head.

Then, the woman fished out a nameplate and activated her Divine Ego and Spiritual Power at the same time. When she was done with everything, she tossed the nameplate at Lu Ye. “It’s your military token as well as the symbol of your status. Keep it with you at all times. Don’t ever lose it.”

“Yes.” Lu Ye took the token from her.

Everyone in Bing Zhou Watch had their own military token. Although a Battlefield Imprint contained all of the cultivator’s information, it would disappear when the cultivator passed away.

It would be different to have a military token. At the very least, a cultivator’s identity could be confirmed even if he was killed.

Also, members of Bing Zhou Watch could use these military tokens to communicate with each other to be better mobilised. Battlefield Imprints were not as convenient. Cultivators needed to exchange Brands in order to communicate with each other.

Seeing that Lu Ye had no intention of leaving, Elder Shi asked, “Why are you standing there like a fool?”

“Where should I go?”

“You can go anywhere you want as long as you’re not leaving Grand Sky City.” Elder Shi waved his hand. “When the time comes, you’ll be informed of where you’ll go.”

With that, Lu Ye turned around and left.

After he was gone, the woman let out a sigh. “Many years have passed, but she still isn’t willing to let Crimson Blood Sect off. That’s outrageous.”

Obviously, she had heard of some news.

Elder Shi said, “There’s nothing much we can do. Tang Yi Feng doesn’t want to stay in Grand Sky City to manage the affairs here, so he can’t blame anyone that the disciple of his Sect is bullied.”

“If he goes to Heavenly Gate Canyon…” The woman was worried.

“Why are you even worried?” Elder Shi let out some smoke. “Have you never thought about why Qian Wudang even released that brat?”

The woman seemed to realise something. “You mean…”

Elder Shi snorted. “You’re fully aware of the relationship between Qian Wudang and Fan Xiangyi, and Fan Xiangyi and the woman from Crimson Blood Sect are best friends. Since a disciple from the Crimson Blood Sect is here, there’s no way they won’t take care of him. Imprisoning that brat previously was their trick. They must’ve intended to wait for everyone to leave before making an arrangement for that brat. Unfortunately, he was still targeted. Although I have no idea what they’re up to, it won’t be easy for that crazy woman to bring him to Heavenly Gate Canyon.”

Upon hearing his explanation, the woman said, “I see. You’re so insightful.”
