Lu Ye inspected the stone houses and occasionally picked up some stuff.

He had no idea who lived in the city in the past, but they seemed to have a habit of making furniture with Fire Spirit Stones. Stools, tables, and things he didn’t know the uses of were crafted with Fire Spirit Stones.

They had been left there for thousands of years, and the Fire Spiritual Power in this place was ample and active, causing these items to be of high purity and quality.

Ying Wuji and the others were busy collecting the Fire Spirit Stones. Unbeknownst to them, the real treasures were hidden in the dilapidated city.

Rather than strenuously collecting the Fire Spirit Stones, it was definitely much easier to pick up things that were already available.

Considering how expansive the city was, it was inefficient for a person to search around. Although Lu Ye could move swiftly, it wasn’t easy for him to look through the entire city.

After giving it some thought, he released Amber from the Spirit Beast Bag and summoned Yi Yi.

“Where’s this place, Lu Ye?” Since Amber had been kept inside the Spirit Beast Bag, Yi Yi naturally couldn’t come out either. Now that she suddenly appeared in such a strange place, she was puzzled as to what was going on.

“It’s a treasure trove.” Lu Ye briefly explained to her the current situation.

Upon hearing that, Yi Yi nodded. “I got it.”

The man wanted her to help look for the hidden Fire Spirit Stones in the city.

“Be careful. There are some cultivators from Thousand Demon Ridge here. Ying Wuji is their leader. Don’t let him discover you.”

“Alright.” Yi Yi dipped her head and disappeared, after which Amber followed her.

With Yi Yi’s help, they would be more efficient at finding treasures. There was no doubt Lu Ye would gain a lot of rewards.

The search continued as every stone house was looked into. Lu Ye would even inspect the collapsed houses, and he would discover something useful from time to time.

About two hours later, Lu Ye held a disc made from a Fire Spirit Stone and studied it. It was a palm-sized disc. Just like the furniture he had picked up, it was apparently made by Humans.

Certainly, it wasn’t a piece of furniture. It looked more like a plate. The rim of the plate was too low, so it couldn’t really hold anything.

What concerned Lu Ye was that there were many complicated patterns on the surface. At first glance, it looked like a Glyph, but due to the fact that it was an ancient item, the patterns were damaged, so he was unable to identify the Glyph.

A moment later, Lu Ye decided to infuse his Spiritual Power into it and followed the traces in an attempt to repair the damaged parts.

It wasn’t a difficult thing to do for him. It was just like the challenges he had taken on in Hundred Wards Tower.

Whether he could repair the Glyph depended on his luck. After all, there were many damaged parts, so he couldn’t tell what the Glyph originally looked like.

A while later, he donned an awkward expression. That was because as he repaired the damaged parts, he finally had a rough idea of what the Glyph was. It seemed to him that the Explosion Glyph had been carved on the plate.

It was roughly the same as the one he had learned, but the internal structure was slightly different.

The structure of a Glyph wasn’t immutable.

Take the Glyphs that Lu Ye had acquired from the Tree of Glyphs as an example. They were different from the Glyphs that he had learned from books. He had tried comparing the outcomes brought about by the differences, and he came to a conclusion.

For the same Glyph, if he built it using the method he had found on the Tree of Glyphs, it would be 10 to 20 per cent more powerful than the method he had learned from the books. That was a considerable improvement.

As Lu Ye repaired the damaged parts, he could confirm that the patterns on the plate were the Explosion Glyph, but the method of building it was slightly different from what he had grasped.

Fire-Attribute power was known to be violent, and Fire Spirit Stones contained pure Fire Spiritual Power. Of all the Spirit Stones with an Attribute, Fire Spirit Stones were the most unstable. Under normal circumstances, one had to pick up a Fire Spirit Stone with care. If it wasn’t handled carefully, the internal Spiritual Power might descend into chaos, and the stone might explode.

What would happen if it was carved with the Explosion Glyph?

An idea flashed across Lu Ye’s mind. He was about to fully repair the Glyph found on the plate.

When the last primary element was built and the Explosion Glyph took shape, Lu Ye suddenly came to the realisation that he wasn’t just holding a Fire Spirit Stone. It was also a dangerous item that might explode at any moment.

With the blessing of Explosion Glyph, the already violent Fire Spiritual Power seemed to be getting out of control.

Even though Lu Ye was a Real Lake Realm Master, he still felt anxious.

The feeling made him realise that if this thing exploded in his hands, it would cause him some serious damage.

All of a sudden, Lu Ye realised that the disc was a lethal weapon. The residents of the city would use these items to kill the enemies back then.

It was no wonder many collapsed buildings showed signs of destruction. He initially thought that the buildings had collapsed due to old age and disrepair, but now, it seemed that it was because the lethal weapons had exploded.

Who were the people who used to live in this city? Not only could they build a city in such a hostile environment, but they could also make such lethal weapons. There was no doubt it wasn’t easy to deal with them.

Lu Ye retracted his Spiritual Power and dispelled the Explosion Glyph. The sense of anxiety dissipated as well.

Then, he kept the disc and sent a message to Yi Yi, telling her to be careful if she found similar items. She mustn’t accidentally hit the items against anything.

Lu Ye went on to search around and found quite a number of such lethal weapons.

It went to show that the residents of this ancient city had grasped the method to craft lethal weapons made from Fire Spirit Stones.

Time went by slowly. Half a day after Lu Ye entered the city, he had acquired many things.

Fire Spirit Stones were immensely useful to him. Not only could he use them for his cultivation, but the Tree of Glyphs could also absorb the Spiritual Power from the Fire Spirit Stones to ignite the leaves.

In that case, he didn’t have to worry about finding fuel for the Tree of Glyphs for quite a while.

Although half a day had passed, Lu Ye had only searched ten per cent of the city, which went to show how expansive this place was.

It was a rare chance, and this place contained many treasures. Naturally, he wouldn’t want to miss this chance.

Just as Lu Ye was ready to keep on looking around, he suddenly felt the fluctuations of Spiritual Powers coming from the distance.

He lifted his head and saw lights flickering in that direction as Spiritual Powers surged. That direction was where Ying Wuji and his team were located.

[Have they been ambushed?] Lu Ye furrowed his brows. He and Yi Yi had been roaming around the city for half a day, but they had yet to see anyone. What could Ying Wuji and his subordinates possibly come across? There was no way those from the Grand Sky Coalition had come to attack them.

This place was the territory of Lone Cloud City Pass, which belonged to Thousand Demon Ridge. The nearest Pass that belonged to the Grand Sky Coalition was Blue Flame Mountain Pass, which was guarded only by Lu Ye and Nian Yuexian.

As a Divine Ocean Realm Master, Nian Yuexian naturally wouldn’t come all the way here to kill a group of Cloud River Realm Masters.

Lu Ye had no idea what was going on over there, so he was shocked and doubtful. He quickly sent a message to Yi Yi to ask where she was before heading to her location.

When he found Yi Yi and Amber a moment later, he hurriedly kept the tiger inside the Spirit Beast Bag.

Just as he was ready to go to Ying Wuji and his team, some loud noise was suddenly heard. Then, the ground started shaking, and rocks fell from above.

Lu Ye hovered in mid-air and looked down at the dilapidated city. The lava in the ditches that crisscrossed each other seemed to be boiling. Bubbles burst and the lava scattered everywhere.

Many stone houses had collapsed. It was as though doomsday was right here.

As Lu Ye looked at the crisscrossed ditches, he suddenly realised something was off. He quickly flew to a higher spot and looked around before his pupils dilated.

At such a height, he finally discovered what was wrong.

The ditches that connected with each other in this underground city were apparently a Grand Ward. The innumerable ditches were the foundation on which the Grand Ward was built. The lava that flowed in the ditches was the source of energy for the Grand Ward.

He didn’t discover it previously because the city was too massive, so it was difficult to see the complete layout of the city.

Moreover, no one could’ve expected that a Grand Ward was hidden in such a city.

[What kind of Grand Ward is this?] Lu Ye looked intently and tried to recall what he had learned about the Way of Wards. Soon, the name of a Grand Ward sprang into his mind.

[Eight Extremes Demon Sealing Ward!]

The Grand Ward hidden in this underground city was similar to Eight Extremes Demon Sealing Ward. However, considering how ancient it was and the changes in the Way of Wards over the years, the Grand Ward was supposed to be the ancient version of Eight Extremes Demon Sealing Ward.

It was extremely difficult to set up the Ward. Lu Ye had never tried to build it before because he didn’t need to use it.

The Ward’s name suggested that it was meant to seal something. [But what is it that the Ward has to seal?]

Considering the current situation, even though many years had passed, the Ward was still running. That was because the flowing lava continuously provided energy for the Ward.

Regardless of what the Ward was meant to seal, things were not looking good for them.

Perhaps the Ward was in a state of disrepair. Or, perhaps their actions upon their arrival had caused the Ward to show signs of falling apart. Regardless of what the Ward was supposed to seal, once it came apart, those things would be freed.

[What have Ying Wuji and the others come across?] Without any time to ponder, Lu Ye immediately flew towards the entrance.

This was a dangerous place, so they weren’t supposed to stay there any longer.

However, the moment he made a move, the lava beneath him suddenly exploded. A lava column rose up for about 300 metres.

The entrance was no longer visible as it was covered by the rising lava.

“Brother Niu!” Ying Wuji was heard calling out to him from a distance. His voice sounded flustered.

Lu Ye turned his head and saw Ying Wuji and several people flying towards him while looking battered. They were followed by some Human-shaped creatures.

These Human-shaped creatures were aflame as their figures squirmed and shifted. While running after Ying Wuji and the others, they cast fireballs at them, causing them to be in a difficult situation.

They were supposed to be the ones who had exchanged moves with Ying Wuji and the others earlier.
