Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2389: Chapter 2384: Companions

The earlier statement was correct, the Academy truly is thriving these days.

Several academic projects have borne fruit, and everyone is more forgiving of the detours encountered in exploration... Of course, the most impactful change is the continuous emergence of High Tier individuals.

It may still be far from the glorious days of old, but there’s a faint sense of revival— And now, I am also about to set out for the exploration of the Sea of Ashes, similar to the actions taken during the height of prosperity followed by decline.

From this perspective, it seems somewhat ominous.

”Thank you again. If there are any findings here, I will communicate with you, Professor Fu, in a timely manner.”

And amidst Fu Qian’s reflections, Ah Kai, who had somewhat reassured himself, did not take up more time and decisively bade farewell.

On one hand, Professor Fu was busy with affairs, and on the other, his own digestion work was proceeding hastily, clearly needing to return for consolidation.

This even included emotions.

After all, for Professor Ah Kai, the experiences of this ”day” were excessively turbulent and dramatic.

”Congratulations.”

Fully understanding this, Fu Qian did not persist in trying to keep him, gently nodding as he offered his blessings.

Hehe!

The protagonist, having slightly eased his mind, expressed the joy of upgrading between relaxed expressions.

...

The work at the Academy is nearly complete, and the scientific expedition becomes more anticipated.

What exactly were the crystal blessings that Kaldora and the others encountered in the past?

As Professor Ah Kai departed, Fu Qian was simultaneously feeling both omens of bad luck and heightened enthusiasm for the upcoming activities.

If the broader conspiracy theories hold true, then irrespective of what the power of the cursed gods is, this consistency is hard not to associate with the concept of the crystal.

Let’s not forget, just like those curses, things like crystals have been seen in more than one place.

The nameless cemetery pool on Ye Island, on the body of the Apocalypse Knight Kaldora, and even in the scene where the Holy Infant Star drew disasters from history...

This, to date, even represents a form of power that is a bit ambiguous between good and evil, and it’s hard not to imagine its position in the entire Transcendent World—along with the dangers that might come with touching it.

Not just annihilating a heap of High Tier individuals, even the event of annihilating a heap of High Tier individuals has been forcefully suppressed to this extent.

It had been judged before that the Night Watchman was almost certainly not uninformed, and making the Academy cooperate in such a domineering silence almost couldn’t happen without their intent.

It’s a pity that the Academy’s fateful banquet is still lined up after the scientific expedition, making it impossible to seek more guidance now.

Of course, a little comforting is the fact that since the Academy’s exploration team was able to get involved back then, in theory, as long as I find the right place, there’s a good chance it won’t escape me either.

”Professor Lisa?”

While envisioning beautiful prospects, at a certain moment, Fu Qian blinked as he watched a figure push open the half-closed door.

Is it too lively? The legendary bustling scene, nothing less?

I thought after Professor Ah Kai’s farewell, I could steal half a day of leisure.

Fu Qian certainly wouldn’t shut the door on guests but just sighed over the diligence and zeal.

Especially when looking past Professor Lisa’s shoulder, he could also see Cass following behind her.

...

Compared to earlier, Professor Lisa’s mood seemed slightly downcast?

Cass was always smiling from ear to ear, and this time was no exception.

When he greeted him, Fu Qian easily noticed Lisa’s unusual demeanor.

Even though she wasn’t too happy in the morning, it seemed more like she just didn’t want to work.

After a while, her expression was somewhat calm, yet one could still feel a hint of seriousness beneath.

So much so that it made people more suspicious of their purpose in coming.

”Please sit.”

Of course, Professor Fu’s reputation for steadiness continued, inviting them to sit with the familiar gesture.

”Hmm... I can’t quite remember the last time I came here, but the current appearance indeed seems more pleasing to the eye.”

Even Cass seemed more talkative, comfortably sitting down and glancing around, highly praising Professor Fu’s lab layout.

”It’s all thanks to everyone’s efforts, I just put forward some troublesome requests.”

But Fu Qian refused to take credit, waving dismissively with modesty.

So you know your requests are unreasonable?

Even though it was just polite talk, it apparently stirred quite a reaction from Professor Lisa.

For a moment, though she didn’t say anything, her gaze clearly conveyed a message.

”What’s the matter?”

Instead of just exchanging glances, Fu Qian actively engaged her in casual conversation.

”... I remember the candlestick wasn’t like this, what did you do with the original one?”

She was somewhat absent-minded, and with Cass looking on with a watching-the-show attitude not intending to participate, she looked around randomly before asking.

...

Well, at least she didn’t focus on the chairs this time.

Although it sounded like someone was inventorying the loss of fixed assets, at that moment Fu Qian was pleasantly surprised by Lisa’s performance, nodding approvingly.

”You observe very carefully. I’ll secretly tell you, it was taken to make equipment.”

And he was quite honest, revealing the whereabouts of a candlestick straightforwardly.

Making equipment...

Professor Lisa’s look at that moment grew more peculiar.

”Are you sure? I can hardly imagine you all decked out in gold and glimmer.”

Looking Fu Qian up and down, her furrowed brows indicated Lisa’s disapproval of certain aesthetic styles.

”Why not? Such a vulgar yet adorable color, once I have some time, I even plan to fashion another into a necklace to hang around my neck.”

To this, Fu Qian only snorted softly, very insistent on his taste.

Er...

But considering that the person already wore something, Lisa quickly touched her own neck.

”I respect your taste, though I’d prefer having this...”

This ostensibly serious prop for her felt somewhat odd when referred to in such a manner, making her tone difficult to remain grave at that moment.

”Earlier, Lisa came over to discuss the preparation of the archive room with me, and she particularly mentioned the help you provided in it, thanks for all your hard work.”

Watching the interaction between Fu Qian and Lisa, Cass laughed and explained why he accompanied Lisa this time.

”Additionally, I heard something else from Lisa. After seeing her today, you mentioned that she seemed to have not rested well?”

Before Fu Qian could say a few polite words, Cass had already continued, even glancing at the accessory on Lisa’s neck.
