Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2378: Chapter 2373: Hidden Snow

The time is almost up.

The scroll unfolds, not deceiving me.

The time for learning is always short, and in the blink of an eye, the Burial Scroll is nearing its cooldown completion.

Although I wouldn’t mind observing everyone’s intriguing ideas for a while longer, and indeed, Lisa’s situation is quite special.

But it seems more urgent over at Professor Ah Kai’s side, so Fu Qian decided to take his leave.

”...Thank you for your hard work.”

Lisa’s expression was somewhat complex.

As mentioned earlier, she was always skeptical about the purpose of Professor Fu’s visit, doubting he would be so diligent.

As a result, after their inexplicable conversation earlier, her posture remained somewhat stiff.

However, surprisingly, Professor Fu’s volunteer work seemed genuinely diligent, beyond reproach.

Just as this confusion continued to brew, the volunteer suddenly announced his departure, leaving Lisa somewhat at a loss for how to react.

”It’s not hard work.”

Fu Qian naturally wouldn’t be too demanding, after all, young people still need more experience.

Smiling politely, he even specifically greeted Riet before getting up to leave.

...

The weather today doesn’t seem as nice; is it going to snow again?

Outside the laboratory, it wasn’t too early by now.

Looking out with narrowed eyes, I could see that today’s clear skies were somewhat unimpressive compared to before.

The clouds weren’t thick, but they still completely blocked the sun, casting a shadow over the lively Academy.

And while silently sensing, Fu Qian’s destination was extremely clear, heading straight for the battle-worn Benevolence Institute.

Exploring the world has never been just standing in the sunlight, has it?

Humans who have persisted through the Long Nights to this day ought to have this awareness... like Professor Ah Kai.

In Fu Qian’s view, although that young man’s achievements are incomparable to Lady Nepheli, the latter has more of a first-mover advantage.

In the realm of miracles, the winner-takes-all characteristic is still too severe.

If truly placed on the same starting line, Professor Ah Kai, whether in terms of intuition or courage, is considered outstanding within the Academy.

So although theoretically, things could be pushed away, Fu Qian still believes there’s some value in expecting what he might accomplish with the trouble he’s stirred up.

Even now, considerable results have been collected—it’s actually snowing?

At a certain moment, when Fu Qian was not far from the Benevolence Institute, he slowed his steps and gazed at the still majestic building.

Climbing upon its aged facade were shocking cracks, painting a scene of low pressure; yet, upon closer inspection, a visibly chilling aura was indeed emanating outward.

Something was enveloping it, and although the drifting whiteness was not visible, Fu Qian assessed from the atmosphere that it truly felt like invisible cold continually falling.

...

Invisible snow?

Although somewhat coincidental, when considering the ongoing activities inside by several tutors from the Benevolence Institute, it didn’t seem strange anymore.

After all, he had witnessed various strange and bizarre miracles before, just unsure what effects besides subtly altering the weather might exist.

The next moment, Fu Qian had already stepped into that coldness, extending his hand—yes, there’s a beauty in the absence of material.

In his hand, it actually felt like a coolness.

No matter the size, temperature, or even heat transformation, it was so classic, as if truly catching a snowflake with his hand.

Except, it was still invisible, and absorbing heat yet not melting into water.

Moreover, even with a ceiling overhead, it didn’t hinder falling onto him.

”Professor Fu, you came? I was just about to find you.”

While feeling the surroundings, hurried footsteps approached, followed by Luo Bu’s voice, filled with surprise and delight.

Looking up, he could see two unfamiliar faces behind Luo Bu, presumably the supporting forces from the Benevolence Institute.

”Any discoveries?”

Nodding slightly towards the few of them, Fu Qian didn’t waste any time, diving straight into the main issue.

”Yes... but we still can’t confirm if it’s related to Ah Kai’s matter; it was discovered by Professor Boyd.”

Indeed, Luo Bu had delivered good news, and in the next moment, he introduced someone behind him.

”Oh? Through this invisible snow?”

Fu Qian glanced over while flipping his hand.

As one of the two unfamiliar faces, he discovered an older mentor with unusually bright brown eyes and a noble and elegant appearance.

”Yes, this miracle itself doesn’t possess significant lethality, but its advantage lies in its extensive range... it’s not just about cooling the surroundings; the invisible cold chills invisible things, making some entities harder to conceal under its shroud.”

It was clear that, although they hadn’t met before, for the refined and poised Professor Boyd, the presence of Professor Fu before him was undoubtedly more than just an unfamiliar face, and his demeanor was remarkably respectful.

This was a characteristic of the supernatural community, where innate strength spoke for itself.

And despite the different factions, the ranking levels were universally recognized.

Facing a high-level extraordinary only known by reputation, even though he seemed amiable and had proactively come to aid the Benevolence Institute, Boyd’s demeanor remained exceptionally formal, softly explaining the ”snow” before them.

”Good thought, what did you discover?”

Everyone has different personalities, and Fu Qian had no intention of breaking the ice, choosing to focus on confirming the most critical issue.

...

”Something has contaminated this place, and I’m not sure if it’s a remnant from the last incident.”

It turned out that talking technicalities was indeed the best way to communicate with technical personnel; Boyd’s attention instantly returned to exploration and discovery, quickly explaining.

”A very subtle effect, difficult to specifically grasp or even describe. So far, it doesn’t seem to cause any harm and shows no reaction to most tests.

”The reason for its hypothesized existence is because the snow seems to fall more heavily than usual.”

The situation Boyd shared was undeniably abstract, and as he spoke, he even extended his hand, receiving the invisible cold.

”Is this the only finding so far?”

Fu Qian nodded, asking without revealing his emotions.

”Well... yes, our intention is to let the snow fall for a while longer to see if this anomaly becomes more apparent. As for traces of Ah Kai, we still haven’t found any...”

This time it was Luo Bu speaking, sounding somewhat embarrassed, yet it was evident that he cooperated rather well with the tutors, having even had in-depth exchanges on operational concepts.

”It’s already quite good; let’s check Ah Kai’s office next.”

Surprisingly, in the next moment, Professor Fu immediately shifted his tone, giving a high evaluation.

Liking the idea, while watching another unfamiliar face rushing over, Fu Qian signaled they didn’t need to gather there for a report and suggested they return to continue their work.

And as he spoke, he reached into his robe, letting a drop of blood fall onto the Burial Scroll.
