Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 2374: Chapter 2369: I Am Melia

The ring he’s holding is indeed the one he crafted with his own hands in the Abandoned Prison.

Although the core purpose at that time was to create a key to reach the Abandoned Prison, Fu Qian asserted that he didn’t compromise on the pursuit of art and technology.

To fully embody the theme of the Mechanical Remake, he put quite a bit of effort into creating this complex and continually functioning structure—just like a clock.

That’s right, Fu Qian’s purpose in fiddling with it right now is actually quite simple. Just earlier, he mentioned a good way to counter Engraving Wisdom, which is to carry a timing device.

But honestly, considering the wear rate of his clothes, wristwatches and pocket watches aren’t stable or reliable enough.

So, Fu Qian immediately thought of making slight adjustments to the ring in his hand, integrating this function onto it.

There was no need to actually engrave a dial, just to have a way to represent time, so it wasn’t too difficult.

And as of now, it’s basically complete; even if laid out in plain sight, Professor Lanaya wouldn’t be able to notice it.

”Your research result?”

Indeed, the latter barely glanced at it before furrowing her brows, and, unable to suppress her curiosity, seemed to finally realize that Professor Fu was actually of the same sort as those unruly people.

”Yes.”

Fu Qian admitted proudly.

”...So you’re planning to use this thing to search for Ah Kai’s whereabouts?”

Somewhat unable to bear the expression, Lanaya furrowed her brow even tighter, cautiously guessing Fu Qian’s purpose.

”No, although it may seem impressive, it’s actually just a clock.”

Unexpectedly, Fu Qian continued shaking his head, rubbing the ”Tyrant’s Mechanical Fist,” and explained straightforwardly.

...

”In any case, you must have some thoughts on Professor Ah Kai’s situation, right? I don’t believe you would just leave those people to wander about recklessly.”

Taking a deep breath, Lanaya forced herself to look away from that thing and gritted her teeth.

It was clear from so much interaction that, no matter the demeanor of the person in front, she and Professor Luo Bu shared the same view in certain respects—that is, reliability.

Faced with such unexpected developments, she also felt that things were not simple and didn’t believe Fu Qian would propose such a simple solution and then leave it at that.

”There are some immature ideas, still pending verification.”

Fu Qian didn’t bother to deny it, nodding to indicate he did have thoughts.

”But that’s tomorrow’s concern. Now it’s time to rest.”

At this sudden change, Lanaya’s expression visibly relaxed for a moment, relieved that he wasn’t shirking responsibility.

However, before she could take a breath, Fu Qian followed up with a remark, successfully re-stiffening the atmosphere.

”Are you really going to sleep?”

Seeing Fu Qian even put away the ring while speaking, Lanaya, exasperated by his unpredictable behavior, spoke with a tone of helplessness.

”Indeed, but feel free to come find me if there’s any progress. I said the same to Professor Luo Bu.”

Fu Qian not only confirmed her remark but was obviously sending her off.

Hmm... why are you saying it so boldly? That’s supposed to be my line, isn’t it? Is it so difficult to enjoy a quiet evening?

She got the idea, but regarding Professor Fu’s actions, it was evident that Lanaya had complaints.

However, based on her ample experience dealing with him, she knew very well that moral condemnation had no effect on the person in front of her.

Soon Lanaya didn’t waste the effort, withdrew her gaze, and sighed with the weight of time.

In any case, as long as he doesn’t abandon his duties, it’s fine.

...

There are indeed plans, but also a plan to rest.

Watching another visitor leave, Fu Qian finally stood up, even stretching lazily.

Everything said earlier could be regarded as truth; there was no intention of deceiving the head of the Punishment Department.

Professor Ah Kai’s situation is not promising, even in Fu Qian’s view. He is trying to develop a new Miracle, which might be related to Meria.

Yes, Meria—the non-existent ancient Superior Being.

The form of power known as Miracle may be bizarre, but Fu Qian never liked to engage in overly mysterious speculation, complicating matters.

The reasons for making the previous judgments are not only simple but also not singular—

First, don’t forget, Professor Ah Kai was once a member of the ark Exploration Team and even after a successful return voyage, bore some negative effects.

And one of the conclusions from earlier investigations was that the ark likely appeared underground at the Benevolence Institute due to some special geographical concept, corresponding to the later connection between Meria and the Academy at this place.

So is there a reason to suspect that the ark is also linked to that mysterious Superior Being?

Furthermore, Professor Ah Kai might have an increased possibility of being adversely influenced due to negative effects.

Secondly, it’s even more direct—Ah Kai specifically sought out Luo Bu for a mushroom and explicitly used it in subsequent tests.

And just moments ago, Fu Qian, through deliberately ingesting the mushroom to test poison, after a series of operations, arrived at a conjecture—that the possibility cannot be ruled out that Fungus Emperor and Meria are the same entity.

Thus, it is still possible to connect with Meria.

Lastly, Professor Ah Kai mysteriously disappeared and couldn’t be found—just like Lord Meria.

It’s so classic and direct that one cannot ignore this similarity at all.

To the extent that Fu Qian believes that if people can be found later, it might be a good breakthrough point for understanding those ancient secrets.

All in all, the action has remained focused, circumstances are becoming clear.

As for why after returning, there’s actually time to adjust the clock here, and even now, really preparing to sleep?

Of course, it’s not because of a severed train of thought; on the contrary, it’s because the subsequent course of action has already become clear—Burial Scroll.

Miracles are inherently bizarre, now related to an especially mysterious ancient Superior Being. At first glance, there seems no starting point, but don’t forget his Heart Demon.

The Jade Soul Master is indeed Meria, who once personally demonstrated it to him.

If rounded up, could he be Meria himself?

The unique form of power of the Jade Soul Master theoretically provides him an opportunity to address Professor Ah Kai’s dilemmas through operations and attempts.

The only issue is that he can only connect to the Heart Demon by opening the Burial Scroll.

Considering the cooldown time, at least until dawn.

Since earlier, he had just educated Miss Liushuang and Miss Wen about balancing work and rest, why not take this opportunity to set an example for them?

And of course, don’t forget one more thing—

Fu Qian lowered his head, staring at the constantly moving ring.

No problem, time is flowing normally.

Professor Lanaya just moments ago, was indeed the responsible individual herself.
