Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 197: Assessment Begins, Lin Yu’s Observation

Although the Marauders are a large organization, advancing within it is relatively simple.

Whoever is strong can become the leader.

Most player organizations tend to have this kind of inclination to some extent.

But only the Marauders use strength almost exclusively as the criterion to determine internal status.

This is why Fish, such a young girl who clearly has little experience leading an organization, can hold the position of Deputy Chief at the Yanjing Headquarters.

Because she is a Unique Class, and a Third Tier Unique Class at that.

Once the standard and consensus that “strength determines status” spread throughout the Marauders, other matters inside the organization besides status were often ultimately resolved by “fists.”

Whether it was disagreements between members or the distribution of benefits, it could all be settled by “you two fight it out.”

Today was no exception.

Inside the ship’s cabin, Fish half-reclined on the sofa, announcing the upcoming selection rules.
“Although I’m glad you all came, this operation involves a lot… The Order has already started moving;I expect everyone will come to grab a share… In short, the situation is very complicated!”

“I don’t want any dead weight in such a critical operation, so a necessary selection must be conducted.”

“Of course, rest assured, I’m not expecting you to duel one-on-one… that would be too inefficient.”

Fish snapped her fingers.

“Assessments will be handled by my capable subordinate, my most trusted right hand—Sea Cucumber!”

“Come on, Sea Cucumber, show them what’s up!”

A tall, skinny young man with a trendy tin-foil perm hairstyle stood up.

“Damn, let’s go!”

He flipped sideways into the air, letting out a wild yell as he jumped directly onto the half-meter-high stage.

Then, the young man named Sea Cucumber stood firm on the stage and stretched his joints.

He then raised his head and spoke.

“Everyone, my name is Sea Cucumber, from Yanjing Headquarters, Second Tier, profession: Enforcer!”

“Next, I will be responsible for assessing you… Don’t worry, this isn’t about life-or-death fighting with me.”

“You just need to come up, go through three moves under my hand, and land one attack on me.”

“I will hold back—after all, if I injure you, I’ll have to treat you.”

“At the same time, you’re free to use any items, but I’ll only use one or two.”

Sea Cucumber said as he circled the crowd.

“Who’s first?”

Although Sea Cucumber’s aura and status as a Second Tier Enforcer were intimidating, most Marauders weren’t easily scared;they were often quite fierce.

So many eagerly prepared to step forward.

Sea Cucumber casually picked one.

“You, you’re up!”

A Marauders member from Jiangcheng took the stage.

“My profession is Corporate Drone. Pleased to meet you.”

After a brief greeting, Sea Cucumber nodded.

“Then I’ll start!”

Seeing the opponent get into position, Sea Cucumber immediately surged forward.

Lin Yu watched this scene and raised an eyebrow.

“A martial artist, huh…”

Sea Cucumber’s footwork was very professional, clearly trained in Sanda.

The Corporate Drone took two steps back to create distance, then pulled out a telescopic baton from his pocket.

Seeing the baton, Lin Yu couldn’t quite hold back a twitch at the corner of his mouth.

That was one he had sold before.

For some unknown reason, it had ended up in the hands of a Marauders member.

Whether it was resold to him or he robbed some unlucky buyer, no one knew.

In any case, the Corporate Drone wildly swung the baton up and down, trying to hit Sea Cucumber.

But to Sea Cucumber…

The moves were way too amateurish!

Fish’s trusted right hand easily dodged the chaotic swings, then sidestepped and punched the Corporate Drone in the liver.

“One!”

Sea Cucumber shouted loudly.

Then he pulled back again;the Corporate Drone’s face twisted fiercely but he managed to stay on his feet.

After stabilizing his stance, the Corporate Drone attacked Sea Cucumber again.

Seeing the opponent move again, Sea Cucumber resumed his footwork.

Again, two dodges, body swaying lightly—this time a side kick sweeping low.

“Bang!”

Sea Cucumber kicked the Corporate Drone’s calf;the Corporate Drone lost balance and fell to the ground.

Seeing the opponent fall, Sea Cucumber stepped back.

“Two!”

He raised two fingers.

The Corporate Drone shakily got up.

Once he was steady, Sea Cucumber didn’t wait for him to move first and charged forward with a stabbing punch.

“Three!”

“Bang!”

Sea Cucumber struck, causing the Corporate Drone’s nose to bleed.

The Corporate Drone covered his nose, grimacing fiercely.

“Definitely strong!”

He looked at Sea Cucumber with admiration.

This guy was among the stronger Second Tiers.

But Sea Cucumber beckoned with a finger.

“Come on, your turn to hit me—this time I won’t interfere, use your full strength.”

The Corporate Drone nodded and pulled out something like a spray from his pocket, inhaling from it.

After using it, he seemed to forget pain, standing upright with blood-red eyes.

Obviously, he used some kind of buff item!

He shook the baton in his hand and whispered,

“Watch out!”

Then, like an arrow released from a bow, the Corporate Drone charged at Sea Cucumber.

The baton slammed down with a heavy “thud!”

At some point, Sea Cucumber had a shield in his hand that looked like a giant konjac—very elastic.

The baton struck the shield, its force completely absorbed, causing the konjac shield’s surface to wobble nonstop.

Even so, Sea Cucumber was pushed back two steps.

Sea Cucumber’s eyes showed approval.

“That thing just now was not bad. If you can use it again tomorrow, I’ll consider you passed!”

“Of course I can. I wouldn’t waste a one-time or long cooldown item just for a test.”

The Corporate Drone put away the baton, panting heavily.

“Then you passed!”

Sea Cucumber announced confidently.

This made Lin Yu think deeply.

“Hmm, it seems that even if you look a bit clumsy, as long as you seem ‘useful,’ you can pass.”

The Corporate Drone was almost toyed with during the “fight” segment, but that final attack seemed vicious enough to pass.

Perhaps the reason why the opponent was allowed to use items was precisely this.

“In other words, the assessment standard isn’t as strict as imagined.”

Thinking this, Lin Yu temporarily left the stage front and sat down near the bar.

Then, he continued observing the following candidates!

After the Corporate Drone’s performance, everyone had a better understanding of Sea Cucumber’s “assessment process.”

Therefore, those stepping onto the stage became more enthusiastic and eager!
