Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 177: Meeting with the God of Revelry

After Li Hua awoke, the voice of the deity sounded again.

”You added ʼleisureʼ to ʼcalmʼ... barely passable.”

”I grant you one rope as reward.”

Then, the others gradually woke up one after another.

The deityʼs voice continued to sound.

Among them, Phantom, Robin, and Fish each received two ropes like before.

Mosin-Nagant received one rope like Li Hua.

And Elder Radish once again demonstrated his good fortune, receiving a full three ropes.

After everyone finished their drinks...

The God of Revelry spoke again.
”Alright, honored guests... this banquet has now concluded.”

”I will shortly send you all off—and provide corresponding souvenirs.”

”The value of these souvenirs depends on how many ropes each of you possesses.”

After the God of Revelry finished speaking, most people showed expressions of relief.

”Finally over...”

Elder Radish said with lingering fear.

Robin also nodded: ”Indeed...”

Without doubt, even for these experts...

This dungeon had been extremely perilous.

In fact, given their strength and extensive experience, it had likely been a long time since they encountered a dungeon where their ”lives hung by a thread.”

But this time...

They had truly almost died—just moments ago, they had nearly fallen into an abyss of eternal damnation.

So...

When the deity himself declared the game was ending and drawing to a close.

They even felt an unreal sensation.

”Is it really over?”

This thought inevitably arose in everyoneʼs mind.

However...

No matter what, having this messy and dangerous dungeon end here was still a good thing!

Of course, everyone present clearly understood...

Aside from the dungeon itself involving a deity and being extremely difficult, there was another reason for their disheveled state.

”Fluoxetine.”

Li Hua looked at the young woman sitting beside him, chin resting on one hand, and called her name.

The Gamblerʼs expression was extremely serious.

”After we leave, I will definitely come to Jiangcheng to find you.”

”I hope you wonʼt stand me up.”

Lin Yu looked at Li Huaʼs serious expression and smiled radiantly.

”Then Iʼll be looking forward to it!”

After Lin Yu and Li Hua finished speaking...

”Whoosh—”

Li Huaʼs chair and his two ropes were suddenly lifted, his entire figure disappearing.

Mosin-Nagant vanished at the same time.

Next, the figures of Phantom, Robin, and Fish also disappeared.

Finally Elder Radish.

Within mere seconds, only Lin Yu remained among the players.

Then the deityʼs voice sounded again.

”So... have you considered what we discussed earlier?”

A new chair slowly descended, upon which sat a miniature version of the God of Revelry using a knife and fork to cut steak.

He speared a piece of steak into his mouth while looking at Lin Yu.

”I deliberately saved you for last—now no one will disturb our conversation.”

Lin Yu looked at the God of Revelry, stroking his chin as he asked.

”Iʼm considering it, and... I have some questions for you, may I?”

”Of course,” the God of Revelry said while spearing half a potato, ”though I may not answer questions beyond the banquetʼs scope—after all, Iʼm not the God of Wisdom.”

”You currently have eight ropes—Iʼll allow you to ask me two questions.”

Lin Yu nodded.

”Two questions... that should suffice.”

”My questions are also related to the ʼbanquet,ʼ even specifically to this very banquet.”

”First question—I want to know what that octopus would have served me if I had chosen to eat [dessert] earlier.”

The God of Revelry looked toward Ka the Octopus who was washing dishes in the pool.

”Ka, our guest is asking you a question?”

Hearing this, Ka quickly raised his head.

”Oh, well... I was planning to make a dessert called [Narrative Trick], which would look roughly like a quill pen.”

Hearing Kaʼs words, Lin Yu couldnʼt help but feel fortunate about his wise decision to refuse dessert earlier.

Thank goodness he hadnʼt accepted.

Otherwise, if this [Narrative Trick] had been served, Lin Yu truly wouldnʼt have known how to explain himself.

Of course...

Now with no one else around, Lin Yu could ask freely.

After all, this was equivalent to getting a preview of what one of his [Promotion] items might look like—not without its benefits.

It also helped confirm something...

”So the disguise of [False Face] canʼt fool deities and their agents after all.”

Lin Yu sighed.

The God of Revelry interjected: ”No, that thing altering your appearance on your face—neither Ka nor I can see through it.”

”In fact, even during the ʼdaydreamʼ earlier, I couldnʼt discern your true appearance.”

”Even now, I can only vaguely perceive your identity—an existence equal to myself has obscured your information... I can only deduce from your banquet performance and dream content that your [Profession] is likely related to ʼperformance.ʼ”

As the God of Revelry spoke, Lin Yu looked at him in surprise.

This deity didnʼt seem to be lying.

Rather... deities like the God of Change who take pleasure in deceiving mortals are probably rare exceptions.

Moreover, Lin Yu clearly knew who was likely helping conceal his identity.

The crow mark on his wrist told him everything.

So Lin Yu chose to believe what the God of Revelry said.

”Your guess is correct, both regarding profession and ʼdeityʼ matters...”

”So my second question is...”

”You said I was an uninvited guest—what did you mean?”

The God of Revelry set down his knife and fork, wiping his mouth with a napkin.

”Because the other six all received my personal invitations to attend... unlike other games theyʼve participated in. What they saw was probably something like this.”

The God of Revelry waved his hand, and a line of squirming blood text appeared:

[ʼA special dungeon awaits your participation. Do you accept the invitation?ʼ]

”This dungeon was originally my preliminary test for selecting an agent. Those six were all players Iʼve observed with some potential... Compared to them right now, your ʼrankʼ is slightly lower, so you wouldnʼt understand.”

”This banquet was actually greatly beneficial for their next step—once youʼve experienced the same number of [Promotions] as them, youʼll understand.”

”Of course, thatʼs beside the point... back to you.”

”Aside from inviting these six I personally selected, I reserved one random spot to be determined by ʼfate.ʼ”

”And what surprised me yet didnʼt surprise me...”

”Was that fateʼs chosen guest turned out to be the most suitable one.”

”Although youʼve only recently entered this game, I believe...”

”You are the most fitting candidate to be my ʼmortal world agentʼ!”

The God of Revelry spoke with absolute certainty.

Lin Yu looked at him and smiled as he replied:

”Iʼm honored by your high regard. My questions are finished.”

”Then what is your decision?”

The God of Revelry asked eagerly.

Lin Yuʼs smile widened as he gave his answer.

”My decision is...”
