Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 165: United Effort, Banquet Card

As a member of Order and a Hai City Game Master, Li Hua, who operated under his real name as a ”player,” naturally had a much better credibility score than Phantom.

And when both of them proposed the same plan simultaneously, their trustworthiness naturally soared.

So, although Robin still couldn’t quite understand why the two wanted her to use the basic ability of the Painter class, she complied anyway.

After using the Painter’s ability to sketch the dessert in front of her, a line of text appeared on the paper.

[Name: Ka’s Handmade Dessert]

[Function: A delicious chocolate dessert paired with three-colored syrup. Eating it brings a pleasant mood and allows you to paint on top of it. The appearance references the career item called ”Blank Canvas.”]

[Additional Note: Redraw what you painted the first time you used your ability on it!]

Normally, when the Painter’s ability is activated, it reveals information about the [item] she painted.

However, this painting depicting the Blank Canvas had an extra ”Additional Note.”

Judging from the content...
It was clearly a deliberate hint left by Ka the Octopus specifically for Robin.

Its purpose was to give Robin a clue about the next step to take after using her basic Painter ability.

Robin looked at Phantom in disbelief.

“How did you know?”

Phantom spread his hands: “I guessed.”

Such an honest answer surprised Robin.

“Guessed… you guessed?!”

Robin didn’t say more, but the look she gave Phantom and Li Hua was clearly filled with gloomy resentment.

Li Hua noticed this silent anger and hurriedly added:

“Cough, cough, sometimes you just have to trust your instincts!”

“And when I agreed with Phantom earlier, I also checked the probabilities... it’s very likely to succeed.”

Li Hua said seriously.

Robin’s expression immediately improved a lot.

“So that’s how it is.”

Lin Yu, who had been quietly thinking about his own matters nearby, couldn’t help but smile seeing their interaction.

“So even the Order guys lie sometimes...”

Although Li Hua’s statement was likely a well-intentioned lie to calm Robin’s mood, a lie is still a lie.

Lin Yu was one hundred percent sure that Li Hua was faking it;he definitely hadn’t used his ability to check the ‘probability.’

However...

Lin Yu agreed with Phantom’s plan.

This dessert phase was related to each person’s advancement item, in other words, their career.

Starting from the career’s ability... although there was definitely some gambling involved, it was somewhat relevant.

Besides, the result turned out well.

And precisely because Phantom guessed correctly, Robin didn’t dwell on it too much.

She looked back at the Blank Canvas.

Seeing Robin hesitate again, Fish couldn’t help but speak.

“Hey, little Painter, you haven’t forgotten what you painted the first time you got your ability, right?”

Robin shook her head.

“No, that painting... I probably will never forget it.”

Then Robin dipped her finger into the three-colored syrup, skillfully blending them in a certain proportion to form a somewhat grayish dark gold color.

She then used the mixed sauce to paint...

A pair of golden scissors.

“This was a tool I encountered in my first dungeon. Almost everyone who joined me in that dungeon died...”

Robin sighed, then pulled out a tissue from her pocket and wiped her finger clean.

“They all died under this pair of scissors.”

After finishing the painting...

The chocolate canvas with the golden scissors seemed to shed a thin film.

That film, stuck to the scissors, floated down and then shrank in the air, quickly turning into a hard-textured card that dropped onto the table with a clack.

Ka the Octopus, seeing this, spoke calmly.

“Oh, congratulations, guest, you have found the little card I hid!”

Saying this, Robin grabbed the card tightly and let out a long breath.

The card was now in her hands!

Next, she just needed to finish eating the chocolate and syrup to succeed!

Robin quickly broke the chocolate into small pieces and dipped them in syrup to eat.

Although the chocolate looked substantial, under the pressure of survival, Robin finished it quite fast.

To prevent “completely enjoying” from not counting, Robin took out a bottle of water and even rinsed the syrup containers clean to finish everything.

After finishing eating, Robin looked up, and Ka the Octopus spoke again.

“Dear guest, you have finished enjoying the [dessert]. How does it taste?”

“Pretty good, very sweet, and rich in chocolate flavor.”

Robin said cautiously.

Hearing the praise, Ka the Octopus happily took back the plate: “Thank you for your recognition!”

This sentence and action clearly showed one thing.

Robin had passed!

She sat in her chair and let out a long sigh.

“Phew... that’s great!”

Robin placed her hand on her chest.

Not only did Robin breathe a sigh of relief, but the others at the table were also happy for her success.

This meant that when it was their turn, they could refer to Robin’s “solution thought process.”

Moreover, it seemed this round was not too difficult!

After recovering, Robin thanked Li Hua and Phantom again: “Thank you both for your help... If it still needs my Painter ability when it’s someone else’s turn... I will still help!”

Although the Painter’s ability had a relatively long cooldown, as Lin Yu had observed before...

Robin seemed to have an ability to refresh or greatly reduce the cooldown of [items] and [skills]!

After Robin finished speaking, Li Hua said:

“We should be the ones thanking you since you were the first to step forward and try. That was already very difficult.”

Master Radish also laughed: “Yeah, when it’s my turn, I’ll rely on your help a lot!”

The others didn’t say much but also didn’t object.

Compared to previous rounds, the atmosphere at this table was relatively harmonious.

After all, by now, everyone seemed to realize that the tone of the dessert phase tended to encourage cooperation.

Taking turns meant the remaining people could help those undergoing the test.

However...

The cheerful atmosphere and optimistic guesses were soon cut short.

Ka the Octopus’s voice twisted the mood at the table again.

“Anyway, before taking the next guest’s order, let me introduce the function of the banquet card that just appeared.”

“The card just now was called [Scissors Card], and its function is...”

“To cut the two ropes on the chairs of any two people at the table!”
