Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 161: The Victor and the Loser

As Lin Yuʼs two items began to take effect within the arena, it was clear that White Drace and Pitian had both lost any chance of winning this match.

In the end...

The Shadow-Type Pseudohuman devoured every last bit of food on the field.

Finally, the entire area within its domain was completely empty.

After the Shadow-Type Pseudohuman finished eating,

the voice in the sky sounded once again.

”The final victor has emerged—congratulations, you may leave this place!”

Then, black voids appeared beneath White Drace and Pitianʼs feet, and they fell into them.

Directly above the Shadow-Type Pseudohumanʼs head, a gentle and bright white light appeared.

Bathed in this white light, it slowly ascended, flying towards the sky.
Although it was impossible to tell if the Shadow-Type Pseudohuman had any emotions, at this moment the image on the screen looked as if it was flying towards freedom and happiness, inspiring awe.

As this scene unfolded...

Ka the Octopus also spoke.

”Alright, everyone—so the victors and losers at this dining table have now been decided!”

Just as Lin Yu promised, he led Robin to win this round!

”So, how about it? I told you... youʼd win.”

Lin Yu looked at Robin with a light smile.

Robin lowered her head, pursed her lips, and shook her head. ”You owe me one...”

”However, you didnʼt tell me the whole plan.”

The girl spoke with a hint of dissatisfaction.

”Ahahaha... no choice, because I was worried your acting skills were too bad to fool them.”

Lin Yu rested his cheek on one hand and said.

As he expected, Robinʼs acting was indeed terrible—just as bad as everyone else Lin Yu had seen.

So keeping her in the dark to produce a “genuine reaction” could better confuse the others.

Before Robin could defend herself, Lin Yu looked toward Ka the Octopus.

”Alright, head chef—what about our main course?”

Ka the Octopus answered politely when asked:

”Please remain patient, two victors. Before I prepare the main course ʼA Victor’s Blood Runs Ever Sweetʼ for you two honored guests... I must first complete the punishment for the remaining five guests.”

”Everyone—banquet game, honor the bet and accept the consequences.”

Ka the Octopus said with a smile, then pulled out a new button from the pool.

Then, he slammed it down heavily.

*Boom!*

*Snap snap snap...*

The continuous sound of ropes breaking rang out. Everyone except Robin and Lin Yu had their chairs suddenly tilt!

The two broken ropes were those closest to the dining table in front—undoubtedly the worst breakage possible!

The five players punished by broken chair ropes swayed and nearly fell!

However, they were all prepared.

These top-tier players, famous in the Death Game player community, were not about to die so easily.

Phantom snapped his fingers, summoning his assistant rabbit, which hopped onto the chair back and grabbed Phantom’s collar with one hand.

Then, like a character from a comedic cartoon, its other hand pulled out an exaggeratedly large iron chain from its bosom.

The rabbit’s iron chain wrapped under Phantom’s ribs, binding him to the chair back and locking the chainʼs end.

”Heh heh—my favorite escape magic... but I guess you don’t want to escape now, do you?”

”Thank you, Teacher Ribbit, I definitely don’t want to.”

Phantom, tied to the chair and swaying with it, replied politely.

On the other side, Mosin-Nagant had a similar plan to Phantom’s. The moment his chair lost balance, he sent his osprey flying underneath to prop it up.

Then, Mosin-Nagant took out two pieces of steel wire rope and fashioned a diagonal cable structure on the two remaining connected ropes, straightening the chair again.

Li Hua’s method was much simpler—he didn’t even use any items.

He directly braced both hands on the chair back, leapt upward, and sat on the highest tilted part of the chair.

Although it looked the most unstable, Li Hua sat quite steadily.

”Don’t you find it uncomfortable on your butt?”

Lin Yu asked curiously.

Li Hua pushed up his glasses. ”Better than nothing.”

The three players who had just lost two ropes were in a messy situation but still manageable.

Radish and Fish looked much more desperate.

With one rope already broken, both of their chairs were now hanging by only a single rope.

Old Radish made a quick decision, pulling out a seed and tossing it into the air.

The seed quickly sprouted and grew into a sturdy vine, forming a net-like trap around the chair, preventing Radish from falling.

Judging by the old farmer’s pained expression, this life-saving item must be extremely precious.

As for Fish...

She grabbed the single rope and pulled out three silver-white spherical robots, each about the size of an eyeball. Once released, the robots unfolded two transparent wings that vibrated rapidly, then flew beneath Fish’s feet.

The three robots supported the chair legs like fulcrums, helping Fish sit steadily again.

But no one knew how long these little robots could hold out.

Watching the five struggling players, Lin Yu rubbed his chin.

”Hmm... sure enough, these ʼexpertsʼ have all sorts of survival tricks and strange functional items. Each one is hard to kill.”

Luckily, for now, he didn’t have to deal with any of them.

Ka the Octopus smiled as he observed the players’ self-rescue attempts. ”You guests truly each possess unique skills. I knew these ʼpunishmentsʼ wouldn’t faze you.”

”But... be careful. If even one rope breaks, the situation becomes very bad—because then you have to worry about more than just the ʼropeʼ.”

”All ropes breaking means you are an unwelcome guest... so besides trying to stay ʼup in the sky,ʼ you need to think about...”

”How to prevent me from forcibly ejecting you.”

Ka the Octopus added with a smile.

The five guests with broken ropes all looked grim.

Lin Yu understood immediately.

”As expected...”

He had already guessed that if all the ropes broke, besides falling, there would be other extremely unfavorable conditions.

Although he couldn’t imagine how to save himself in that case, Lin Yu trusted those “experts” would have some method.

After Ka the Octopus finished his “supplementary explanation,” he once again looked at Lin Yu and Robin.

”Thank you both for waiting. The ingredients for the main course have arrived. I will prepare them for you immediately!”

The white light from the screen shone into Ka the Octopus’s pool, and then...

The previous victor, one of the three contestants—the Shadow-Type Pseudohuman—fell from the white light, landing in front of Ka the Octopus.

The moment the Shadow-Type Pseudohuman appeared, before it could even move, Ka the Octopus tightly wrapped it with seven tentacles, pinning it to the iron plate in front of him.

Then, the Shadow-Type Pseudohuman struggled violently...

But in Ka the Octopus’s tentacles, it was like a child with a toy.

Its resistance had no effect whatsoever.

Humming a lively jazz tune, Ka the Octopus then pulled out a kitchen knife with his free tentacle.

*Scratch!*

The sharp kitchen knife plunged into the Shadow-Type Pseudohuman’s chest, causing it to tremble violently.

Then...

There was no more movement or life.
